I asked my therapist the same question she told me that it is because if they acknowledge you as a child it means that they have failed as a parent and they are all so scared to get in trouble because they can also go to jail believe it or not these parents are selfish and their first thought is holy shit I might go to jail let me keep me out of trouble and just forget what my child said and hopefully they forget to so it’s selfish that’s why they don’t say anything because they’re thinking about their own ass not about their children

Parents, PLEASE teach your child about consent. Not in relation to sex, not until they're old enough for that conversation, but in relation to ANY kind of touch. Teach them that they can say "no" to physical contact. Teach them the places on their body they should NEVER be touched by anyone who isn't you (during cleaning) or a healthcare professional. And for the love of god, take them seriously if they come to you saying someone is abusing them. Even if the person they are accusing is a loved one, someone you trust, or someone with high standing in your community, TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY.

Its almost always someone close or a loved one that ends up hurting a child, my grandparents on my mothers side protected their son (my uncle) after he raped 2 of my aunts and my mother when they were young. He went on to hurt my cousin at family getherings and then my own sister.
And then finally he gets in trouble for only my cousin, and didn't even spend a year in jail. Its garbage and the system does nothing.
I never understood why many parents teach their kids that affection can be bought (aunt ida that you’ve only seen once before gave you $20- go give her a kiss thank you) and that they are required to show/accept affection from people they know, even if they don’t really know them or feel comfortable with them(uncle Bob will be sad if you don’t give him a hug and kiss). Kids should be allowed to say no to affection, even from and toward parents.
it's corny but ever since having to share the kids with their dad [who has come a long way but at the time was toxic and abusive] I taught them these few things:
"secrets secrets are no fun, secrets secrets hurt someone"
"your body, your choice. my body, my choice"
"no means no"
"always speak up"
and "love yourself"
if we can't teach them autonomy, self respect and agency... then they're not as safe and empowered as they SHOULD be.
It really angers me when parents don't believe their children when they tell them they're being abused, physically or sexually. It's already so damaging and makes you feel worthless when this is happening to you, but I can't imagine how much worse it would make a child feel when their parents tell them to shut up and that they don't believe them. Kids don't make shit like that up, I'm so glad my mom actually believed me when I told her.
I had this happen to me. My uncle touched me inappropriately at a party (I wasn't a minor anymore, but it's still wrong!) I told my mother about it and she just shrugged it off and said that it's probably just a misunderstanding. My uncle then did the same to my younger sister, my mum and another family member.
In my family it was the opposite. My cuz didn’t even know what happened was wrong until she nonchalantly said something about it. I believe most kids would try to shrug it off as nothing. If a child felt they needed to go to you, you should assume they are telling the truth.
I’m not a parent, just an uncle for now, but if any child told me their teacher was touching, abusing, or assaulting them in anyway you better believe I’d never shrug it off. Even if the father or mother shrugged it off, I would do something myself. No child should be put thru that & then not believed.
I'm very protective of my niece and nephews. I'm not ready to be mummy yet, I'll stick to being the fun aunty who spoils them and never says no, so of course they walk all over me lol but if any of them ever said someone touched them I would end up doing a life sentence. Yes I understand that such disgusting things done to children may be *taboo* in their community but if your child is telling you something that horrific has been done to them, even if you don’t 100% believe your child it should still be looked into no matter what! That is what a parents job is- protect your child at all cost.
I simply can’t believe someone would not believe their child in such a situation, especially one so young. I know some just feel denial because they feel they’ve failed their kid if they believe it’s true, or some fear going to jail for “allowing” it to happen. But, that thread detailed the phycological reasons many parents do shove their kids off: Lack of care being the least common. In most cases, it’s personal guilt and feelings of failure as a parent or caretaker that usually takes hold at that point. Parents put DEEP trust in institutions they frequent, especially religious ones, which is why much of the abuse from the Catholic Church goes unheard. No one THAT blindly faithful wants to doubt those that tell them they are of god. So they refuse the validity, say they were making it up, exposed to some media of sex that made them parrot things... it’s a sad reality but the moral of the story is ALWAYS assume a victim is correct until they are BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT found wrong

i had a buddy who worked in a prison as an guard, and he told me when the so called ,,justice,, against pedos, and sex offenders is done, most guards look the other way, and sometimes inform the inmates about new prisoners about their history
I was a guard and I used to also dish out justice… I believed it was my duty. Ironically I got fired and almost went to prison for two years because of it.

@HardJust1ceIt's extremely rare for kids to make things up, as they don't generally have the language to describe sexual acts. The majority of kids who falsely claim to be abused are coached by parents in custody battles.

In those cases, it's very easy to tell, because when questioned closely, they can't accurately describe what happened because they have no personal experience of the acts they claim happened. In general, kids don't claim abuse that hasn't happened, because the stigma is huge.

I'm pretty sure there is a saying in Cambodia when they have a baby girl that they will always be okay and if they run into financial trouble they will have they're golden ticket...basically the reason that paodophiles go to Cambodia and surrounding areas such as the Philippines and Vietnam is because it's common for very poor families to pimp there own children (specifically the girls) out for money, so I wasn't surprised when I heard he went there...it's such a shame it's a beautiful place and the people are really lovely...it's such a sad truth that it happens there
@Msvna my sister lived in Cambodia for years and when I went to visit her I genuinely fell in love with Cambodia and the people, at the time I didn't actually know that happened there and it was a good thing too because it would have altered my first experience I found it to be a really cool place with really cool people I loved the fact the Cambodian people where hanging round with back packer and the ex pat community, there was a really great atmosphere, I'd go back in a heart beat.... I feel really sad for the officers who had to watch hundreds of hours of his videos to search for clues to find him. They must have needed counseling after being subjected to that.

As a survivor i plead (often to deaf ears) that therapy should be free and widespread, get all those with this paraphilia to have access to professional help no questions asked. If they dont find help in society, they will find their kindred on the underbelly and soon the "curious" will start to offend. I know everyone wishes them death, and again as a survivor it's hard not to wish vengeance, but education and therapy is key.

I am 53 and being raped by an adult man when I was 5 has continued to plague me as an adult. I had full recognition in 2014. I was 46 and living in Canada. My personal and sexual interactions have been affected.
Personally my sex life wasn't impacted from my past but I find myself sometimes thinking about the 2 years of my life wasted as a child due to being molested, I can't remember much about my younger life except for that and a couple of other things, mostly shitty things, other things good but it's still hard to comprehend to this day. It might also play a part in why I feel as though physical discipline is wrong and other aspects of my life where I feel I have improved my thought process, but for something bad like that to make me a "better person" because in truth, bad things happening to make a better person is a lie.
This is something that happened to a lot of people. You hear about it more with women which doesn't make it right !

I have trust issues and I will park at the end of the supermarket because I don't like you. I also have a sexual issue that prevents me from orgasm due to trust. I have gone for 2 hours, but normal people want 8 minutes.

The fact that he made a comment about how having *** with a 3 year old was boring honestly is just sickening… children aren’t meant to be doing those things people abuse their status as care giver, parent, guardian whatever etc. it’s just heart breaking that he spent years pleasuring himself whilst the children suffered.
