Great video, as always! However, I don't really like the change of how the info on the games shows up at the bottom on the screen, making the picture wider / narrower. Due to the fact that it happens 60 times throughout the video it gets a bit annoying. Or is just me?

Agreed. The game info as a layover would work a tad better than a fly in box. The main video while we can see them fully changing dimensions is not a very standard convention . Think tv news, talk shows , the overlay doesn't change the other video feed
Really enjoyed Zee's description of Neuroshima Hex. The only game from any of these lists which I have, it was an uncannily accurate representation of play in one of my favorite games, also. (I purchased my copy earlier last year based on the Dice Tower review and never regretted it.)

Love Commands and Colors. I like the wooden blocks with pictures better than little plastic men; the blocks just look more fitting for Ancients and Napoleonics. The gameplay of the CnC games feel more nuanced than the others in the system, whilst still being simple.
so which of these will end up being a DTE that's on Tom's list? and on the 'on the underground' i would rarely choose to switch trains if i could stay on the same one in the DC subway system.
Tom, I would suggest you look into the Battles of Westeros game if you haven't already. It does some great stuff with commanders as well as being primarily melee based. Its my favorite in the whole command and colors system genre (although it is certainly heavier that all of the predecessors I've played).

nice video! 2 suggestions to make future videos even better: use less saturated and lighter colors to not take away focus from the video and make the text easier to read. the black text on purple background was hard to read. also don't reduce the height of the filmed stuff when you slide in the text-graphic, it gives a slightly nauseating feeling. great work otherwise, though!
I recommend you watch the TV show before reading the book. The book is a huge time investment, the TV show is 10 episodes. Plus, it has some big name stars in it! Donald Sutherland, as well as Hayley Atwell, and Eddie Redmayne.
I went to check Top list of games published on 2006 on BGG and i knew right away what was Zee's number 1 :D Also, although i haven't played Pillars, but if it is true what he is talking about, then i'm 100% with him on that. It is just a glorified turn marker and is kind of silly (though also cool gimmick) and it can't be compared with marking building you have built in the game with a 3D object. And i thought previously that you are building the cathedral for real, like investing in some part of it and building it. If you just do it at some point of game to mark the next turn, then Pillars lost a lot in my eyes :)

That and the balance issues regarding Sue Storm kind of tanked the game at release. and it's a shame Nexus didn't get the chance to correct and expand the game before the went under / lost the Marvel license.

I have played Thurn and Taxis like 5-6 times on Yucata (i've seen it live when i had an opportunity to buy it of second hand and i didn't). And i agree with Tom, it's not a Spiel winner for me. It's dry. It's ok, like 6-7 out of 10 for me. But man. It came out after the Ticket to Ride, but it looks like it came out in 1990.. It looks so dull.

Those blocks in CC Ancients are so much more practical and less fiddly to move, than the miniatures in memoir 44. Awesome game.
For next year's Kickstarter, there should be a stretch goal that Tom, Zee and Sam must read and/or watch The Pillars of the Earth.

+mgk2020 It's our "go to" Worker Placement game for 5 players. Not many play well with 5, but Pillars + expansion works extremely well for it.

The overlays look good for me but PLEASE change the black on purple. Very difficult to read.

In 2006, only unplugged game I was still seriously playing was MTG. :)
