How the holy fk are these lot still in government?
Oh don't ask me. I was sick of them years ago.
You keep voting them in!
@@gabe4565They literally weren't voted in...
The self interest just oozes out of number 10.
Hi James
Happy 2024
How can ANYONE apologise for
SUGGESTING YOU SEDATE YOUR WIFE TO KEEP HER
SUBMISSIVE and
SUBSERVIENT and
REPRESSED in order to prevent her from her own
CHOICES
Thinking it’s ok to tell as a
JOKE
Especially when they are the
HOME SECRETARY in charge of lawmaking
sounds like they should not be married..
@@bepitanCalls into question why she said "yes" in the first place... Was it voluntarily or were other "substances" involved...
Absolutely agree! I wonder how many people would think about the Home Secretary's personal principle of attitude towards the opposite gender. Based on what he said, I would think that deep down he is misogynistic and dehumanizes females. What do you think?
@@Nice0n3 ..perhaps she changed her mind after making a promise .
@@Nice0n3 ..but i never called into question why ..you are bullying the debate by putting words into my mouth .. please stop being a bully.
Someone should've told James Cleverly that a Joke is suppose to actually be a Joke. 😑
He learned everything he knows about jokes from Boris Johnson, can you really blame him
James Cleverly, MP for Braintree. Just seeing it written down makes me laugh at the levels of irony contained in one little sentence.
I'm not far from braintree and they shan't be forgiven for electing him
Wonder if anyone has suggested that Cleverly change it's name
Hello James.
Regarding the 1st hour topic. Another interesting aspect is that a bitter substance could be added to these products. Why doesn't this happen? Well, the industry that uses this substance has complained that it would take an extra production step to remove the bitter substance. That's why no bitter substance is added. Absolutely mind blowing.
Love your show.
With love from Germany, Eva
What's even more depressing is that adding bitter substances is done for decades for cleaning alcohol. It was just made a law and the industry had to follow. Why did it work then? Maybe because the state gets big amounts of money from the alcohol taxes?
I get what you are saying but it's not worse. It just add on to the shitshow
James O'brien for Prime Minister!
It is a bit rich of the PM to believe he has cleverly dealt with the fireable offence with his "the matter is now closed" without setting a date for this offensive man to leave his post. Please forgive my massacre of Puns.😉
Truss is deluded. She probably genuinely thinks she was the best PM ever even in private
The best new Years resolution improvement for 2024 is to clone yourself and bring your doppelganger to Canada !
2024 is your opportunity to vote these scumbags out of office. Vote for change!
True on both sides of the Atlantic. Hope both our nations get it right. Just say no to the Conservatives in 2024!
They keep Fing around. About time they all Found Out.
If i ever make it to England..im taking a selfie with Mr. Obrien!
Unless just for a holiday, don't waste time and money coming here. It's a horrible place...
You'd have to go to a white middle class area, cause O'Brein won't live near blacks and Asians. 😊
@@dooda77penn19 that's a strong accusation, do you have anything at all to back it up?
@alexharrison2743 ,Yes, He used in live on Chiswick, 95 per white middle class area, he's now moved out of London to a similar demographic . A big avacote of open borders but won't live near them..Fact.
@@dooda77penn19 that does not mean he refuses to live near people of other ethnicities. There are multitudes of factors that go into where someone lives - proximity to schools, family, work, etc, and it's more likely that non-white people are often priced out of those areas. Your comments would suggest you're unaware that correlation does not mean causation.
Your use of "them" in 'won't live near them' is very Othering language, so unless you have an actual statement from O'Brien, you seem to be projecting.
Somewhat unfortunate title for this episode isn't it.
They'll be glad of that capital C!
Very interesting content James. I always enjoy hearing your perspective on today's issues, mainly because you deliver with such grace. Thank you for that. Sincerely.
If you're going to hold police officers (rightly) to account for the things they say, then you HAVE to hold their (effectively) boss to account too, and that is Sunak' job.
Tory Humor...as Funny as a Funeral. ⚰️
This actually made me laugh out loud.

Where has the British humour gone, can't make a joke without constant trouble makers spewing their bile 😊 lighten up 😊
Where has the British humour gone, can't make a joke without constant trouble makers spewing their bile 😊 lighten up 😊
The last segment about people staying together because they can't afford to separate reminds me of stories about people who stay together for the children. It's a toxic and disgusting environment for the adults, the children as well as any new lovers with whom the parent or parents decide to pursue an affair.
Highly informative channel. I learn a lot. Thanks.
"I learn a lot. Thanks." That's it? You learn a lot?
@@juliet3827 are you deliberately being sarcastic? Or foolish?
I doubt the not so cleverly has a caring bone in his body after the new policy on spousal visas was announced, a policy which forces people to decide weather they can live in the country of there birth or have to leave to be with the person they love.
He probably heard that you can joke about anything if you do it cleverly.
Very Clever 😂
He cleverly copied Boris Johnsons style of impunity with his words
That first text for idiots corner completely misses the point that Corbyn or anyone else on the left et al wouldn't make a joke like that so would never have the opportunity to be forgiven.
Cleverly should be in jail for his comments .How a mimister can say such a thing and still have a job .sack him and no payment or pension
Yes he should be put in jail for such comments straight after Boris Johnson is incarcetated, but not before boris!
It is his WIFE I feel for divorce is on the cards .
@@enawilson3210 his wife knows he was actually being very flattering to her, trust she knows!
i've been spiked, it's not funny, luckily my partner was there and got me home safely
I'm sorry to see that.
It's crazy to learn how many people (generally women) have had an experience like this. From my immediate circle, I *know* of two cases.
I'm only surprised that Cleverly didn't come out with the "locker room talk" defence.
Cleverly's a father to 2 sons it doesn't bare thinking about the disrespect he's teaching his sons!!!!!
It has become very obvious that Cleverly is a really unpleasant person who seems to be unable to control what comes out of his mouth.
Being unpleasant and can't control what comes out ones mouth doesn't stop you from being voted in by the British public to be their leader. Boris Johnson can testify!
Cleverly gets away with it because no one challenges him!! No one demands his dismissal!
Not very clever.
I'd think Mrs Cleverly might have a few words on the issue.
Not much she's been out for hours. Wonder why.
I teach adolescents whose 'humor' occasionally sinks so low. One strategy that is useful is to ask the joker to explain why their joke was funny.
This will not likely get the joker to change their mind, but it is remarkably revealing to those around them.
Would like to know about Cleverly’s relationship to a family member who seems to have some connection to large scale financial scamming in the US.
welcome back!
James: it's not just family and partners that worry about people getting home safe from a night out. Dunno about anyone else, but me and my female friends have always done that, right back to the late 90s. It used to be either ringing round at the end of the night, or when mobiles came in, texting at the end of the night. It was normal and I suspect it still is.
Completely agree with you re not so cleverly, not sure if you appreciate comments here...my room for improvement for 2024 would be not to focus so much on how Brexit affects the UK so terribly but how it has affected all of us ex-pats in EU countries.....so little is said about it, and it needs to be adressed, willing to speak/colleagues about it, thanks again for your great content and best wishes for 2024
Are British immigrants in the EU struggling?
I didn’t know British immigrants to other EU countries were having difficulties due to Brexit. Tell us more!
conservatives, authoritarians... have all the forgiveness and leniency for their peers and for themselves. Just not for others outside their circle.
That is my experience.
Are there any serious politician left in the Tory party
Nope!
The tory party represents the majority of normal every day UK residents, that who voted them in for the last 14 years.
Blame the silent majority who keep voting for them, theyre just as non serious
I bet Cleverly didn't earn those medals he was wearing at the state funeral of the Queen too...... Sleazeball
it’s his job as a “man” to recognise how inappropriate the “joke” was let alone his position?! it makes all women feel utterly vulnerable
The backdrop needs improving😅. How about a nice brick wall with some artsy bits and warm lighting. The show is great.
The TORIES take no responsibility for anything, it is the way they work now. We’ll have to witness if the public are willing to accept this.
Considering the previous comments about transfolk this almost seems like a logical extension to that lack of responsibility.
The Crime Survey for England and Wales estimated that 2.1 million people aged 16 years and over experienced domestic abuse in the year ending March 2023 - of these 751,000 were male and 1,400,000 female. As a sitting mp Cleverly should know this. Each year the numbers increase. It is no laughing matter.
Back to the Real World .
James it more common that you think, people just don't put their business out there like that, I raised my son under the same roof with his dad, it was very hard but I made the decision to do so for financial reason and for my son's well-being
Huh. I did not know that unassailable fact about the Earl of Dartmouth's archers inventing darts.
What has been his wife's reaction to Cleverly's joke?
I have contacted my MP...everyone should do so.....for me the matter is NOT closed
Happy new (election) year, JOB!
Cleverly, MP for Braintree - is that a double oxymoron?
Tell his qife to lawyer up and, to quote zsa zsa gabor, "dont get mad, get everything"
Cleverly thinks he's Dave Chappelle.
Remember when you couldn't see behind the curtain. Leaving yourself doubting your instincts, instincts that screamed the opposite of what the official consensus was but you were simply labelled cynical and dismissed. Now they don't ever draw the curtains and they leave the lights on 24/7 .
Sudafed caffine and aspirin
James, you are all in all complete.
I do condemn the “joke” by the person in charge of the law and criminal conduct policy. I can say that this is dark humour that may only be funny in Scotland. However, this is actually the most disgusting gross misconduct by a lawmaker.
My Friend said that he had worked with the mp that lineker was goin on aba on housin or stn like that an he said the tory mp would suggest getting escorts n madness they proper seedy people them mps
I feel sick for this poor lady
The hypocrisy is mind blowing
Now go and listen to Ferrari's jokes with Cleverly. Diagusting people
I read it as if James (O'Brien) was cleverly joking. Came as a bit of a shock.
JHaha same
Cleverly, totally unclever.
James needs to go turkey, his head top is in trouble! 😂
Not being funny but how many lords are there now? Is it just a never ending list that goes on and on of unelected retirees that WE the tax payer have to keep PAYING FOR!!!
Patel, Braverman, Cleverly, who next? 30p Anderson?
Our government want nurses and doctors to leave for the private sector which is why they won't give them decent pay. The more who leave the faster the downward trajectory of the NHS. This is a deliberate strategy that makes privatisation of the NHS inevitable. Lots of our MPs don't work for us; they are there to benefit themselves. Their rewards are gained through the revolving door to reward them for political decisions that benefitted corporations and private healthcare companies.
Privatisation isn't a solution to the breakdown of the NHS it's just a gateway to a two tier health service. In America patients receiving private care are just as unhappy with their treatment as people in the UK and they are paying a lot for it if they don't have cover through their job. So get ready in future to pay a lot more for healthcare in future but h expect it to become a luxury service.
Is it for UK liability reasons that everyone's accepting Cleverly's line that "it was a joke"? Has anyone checked his browser history? He's sure looking like a duck, and quacking like a duck.
Usually a joke used in casual gestures ,really his some thing they have done in the past .because jokes are usually something you've done in the past.
Jim dim is supposed to be one of the adults.
😬 and I thought Jesse Watters admitting that he slashed his coworkers tires so he had an excuse to lure her into his car was bad.
Cleverly's joke is a thought that would not even form in my mind.
However, even if it WERE to form, I'd recognise it as one of those weird thoughts you know to acknowledge and then just let fade away again. I'd be weirded out by the strange way the brain works and then continue on.
If I WERE to share that thought with people, I'd share it as a "this weird thing happened to me" story. Then a close friend and I would muse on how our brains can be weird sometimes.
If I WERE to share that thought with a large group of people in the form of a joke... I'd be either having a weird dream of cosplaying James Cleverly or I would find myself participating in a strange James Cleverly biopic. That is to say it would not ever happen.
I like dark humour, but... dark humour still has some logic to it and it still needs to obey rules about timing and context. Dark humour is also not an obvious tool for a public servant.
LBC leaving journalism alone.
Just a boy in a job, then
Rooney next job is England manager
I think that this ought to be kier stamer? first question in the coming pmq s why is cleverly still in government?
Gta online has Ai policing words now
2 maggots on the phone
Keep rambling on.
Now you know why the Tories are so keen oon immigrants , they're looking for tips to abuse women
you say that the public are now dissatisfied with the nhs ..but what you always fail to conveniently ignore is how happy the shareholders are .. lets tell the whole story.
I'd give Cleverly a pass.
I could almost guarantee that we've all made an inappropriate comment at some stage in our lives that was meant to be humourous and didn't work.
Most of the high profile tories are contemptible people but this really is a storm in a teacup and certainly not a sacking offence. If it was, most of the world's modern comedians would be working in a McDonalds Drive Thru.
Except when you're in the government, you have even more of a responsibility to choose your words wisely, especially because your comments can cause a wave of increased attacks or aggression on different groups in the society. Brexit campaign times come to mind, with hate crimes on Eastern European minorities as a shining example.
Why pay them to do a job with so much power, while not expecting more of them, than you'd actually expect of yourself?
If it's not a big deal, then what is the problem in Sunak addressing it? So far this government has been avoiding crucial issues, while focusing on their passion projects, such as limiting UK citizens' rights to protest.
Also if it is not a big deal to you, it may be because you don't feel it concerns you, or that you are at any risk of being drugged against your will and/or abused in any way.
Crumbs for thought.
There's a huge difference between a comedian and a government minister, although it's forgivable that you're mixing the two up given where we are politically.
He's not a comedian (even if he was, what even is the joke he's trying to say? It's not funny. It's just weird). He's not just some guy down the pub. He's the Home Secretary speaking in the House of Commons. Have some standards for the people who run the country.
Boris said all sorts but never once did sacking him come to anyone mind, it's only because cleverly isn't a person of NO colour why he can't get a pass
The amount of people that need to blab about themselves is astounding!!!
James could you update your 20 year old photo on TH-cam?😉😄❤️
Thank you for your support James. As a British Muslim I believe that the UK would benefit from Sharia Law. Currently we are around 7% of the population and we expect to be at around 30% of the population by the end of this century, at which time we will be able to make Sharia Law legal, hopefully.
Pretty epic attempt at trolling, I'm just here to see who bites, ignore me
@@SolidGoat I'm confused by your comment. Please explain brother.
Not too sophisticated an attempt to troll.
I expected this to be funny
I think men have had enough help from women a lot of young men have committed suicide because of their masculinity being taken away from them. That is something of great importance that needs discussing .
Nobody is taking away anybody's masculinity, unless you speak of trans people not being able to live the way they wish to.
@@InsoIence trans people can live the way they want for the most part. Not exactly treated like second class citizens.
How has ANYONE taken away a man's masculinity? Please... talk me through the process?
I am genuinely interested to learn what you mean by men having their masculinity taken away. I'm a man and I cannot relate to this feeling, so I wonder what it is that apparently people are keen to take away from me.
I also wonder by what means this is taken away from men.
If you meant to talk about domestic abuse also affecting men, then it was a weird way to phrase it.
@@TheAArmstrong That's funny, where did the 'gender wars' go all of the sudden then?
Honestly, at this point you have the internet at your finger tips. And listen I don't blame you for not knowing how to do your research, the space has been flooded with sponsored ads and AI websites, it's hard to dig anything out.
However you are definitely responsible for trying to figure it out, asking how to do it and generally striving to be smarter.
Use AI to find actual research, if you must. Just don't stay uninformed. It's easier to manipulate you.
Poor taste joke buts james really be clutching the pearls here.
James are you sure you are asking members of the establishment to be exposed or punished, empires do not work like that.
