Literally my situation just makes this authentication shit a pain in the ass. I can't sign into my Steam account, that I was just signed into, because of the steam guard authenticator. Some genius at valve literally thought lets make it so you can't use the authenticator without having an authenticator code. That's like locking your keys inside your car and asking somebody to provide the car keys to open the door! On top of that I can't just resort to using my email as a backup since for some reason it makes my old phone number the go to code generator. So that's out of the window. Now it's asking me for some "recovery code"? Fucking why? What happened to just "verify your email", "we'll just send your code to your email"? This shit is stupid and whoever develop this idea at valve should get fired cause there's so many loopholes in this fucking guard system.
I had to reset my phone to factory settings and lost all my apps, including steam app. Today I tried to play some csgo and when I was asked for the authentication code I just remembered I don't have the steam app anymore. I go on play store, download steam and when I try to login... suprise! I need a authentication code to login. Now WHAT THE FUCK steam?! How should I get my authentication code if you don't let me login the app that is supposed to give me that code? Now I have to wait for them to respond to my email. Some bullshit this is....
I got rid of steam because I didn’t play any games on it anymore and when I went to redownload it so I could buy Rainbow Six Siege it asked for the authentication code. I had no idea what it was so I tried to get it back. I tried to get a verification code and it said that it didn’t go through and when I went to send another one it said that I had sent too many. What an amazing experience 10/10

On step when you need to enter your email or phone number to prove you're the owner of the account, the steam verification code doesn't send to email or phone number, I can only see an error message "try again in 5 minutes" and this ticket is in steam support and nobody answers there... There are similar examples on forums on the internet and people lost their accounts forever...
For everybody who seem to struggle with the pop up window not showing here is something you may try to fix the problem - Update drivers for all devices in your computer... - Update your directx installation (download the redist pack, not the webinstaller)... - Make sure you don't have pending Windows Updates - Backup your steamapps folder and uninstall Steam. After i put in the code from the email it ask me what i want to reset. password, mobile guard, or remove my phone number. When i select the mobile guard it requires that R code (which previously i said i didnt have like 2 steps ago) and requires password. Welcome to steam give us money!
I'm not sure if this is still how the account recovery system works on steam now, I think they may of subtlety changed this system to instead not present the proof of ownership page shown at 2:09 and now shows this at the very end of the help wizard and it seems more like you are entering a request that is going to just be read by steam support at some time and you have little control of when that is. also the removing of the steam mobile authenticator shown at 2:45 doesn't seem to be available in the current steam support system as it instead asks for your steam recovery code (which i don't have).

@@satadeepnath8846 I told them, the general personal information: email, name of the account and also some of the persona name that I've used in the past, and the phone number even not having access to it right now, also when asked about a credit card that has been used, I didn't remember the numbers and security code but, I wrote down the name of the owner cause being my father I obviously remembered. And the part that I think help the most is that on the part that asks for a cd key used in the past, not remembering the exact code I wrote down 2 games, that in the past, I've added to my account by this feature. Thereafter since I still has access to the email account, they simply send me a code to connect after it was all solved. And also, one thing that may have helped (inmyparticularcase) is that I'm not sure about the overall time it takes to them answer such a request, but I imagine that if I had made this request to the Brazil steam support, maybe it would take longer.

If you don't have access to your phone number; and you've not removed the phone number before losing access to it, you'll have to either a) contact your carrier and ask for a new SIM -card with the old number, or b) contact Steam Support with proof of ownership. There used to be a way to remove the phone number with the recovery code / backup codes, but that hasn't been possible for ages.

You can still do such a thing. You only have to do it in a browser and there should be an option to remove authenticatior even if you don't have your phone by yourself.

The new recovery takes 3hrs before they remove the authenticator and the mobile number. If you lost your phone
not working anymore, I think they removed the option to disable steam guard by password. Now I can't recover my account.

check your using the correct app, i just woke up found steam was locked needed the app i opened the steam chat app thinking where the F is steam guard? wrong app! ive got 2 apps a steam app and steam chat app just needed the steam app.

You can still do such a thing. You only have to do it in a browser and there should be an option to remove authenticatior even if you don't have your phone by yourself.
When i type in my steam name it pup up a site there you need to put in your email and phone number and shit but i dont have my phone number

its pretty hard to change your phone number if you dont have the phone number and it askes for your phone number

You wanna know whats crap? My father father made my acc. So i dont have the recovery Code. I also dont have access to my steam guard and I also dont have access to the registered Phone Number. Im just hoping there is a way Steam is able to help me recover my acc without them thinking im a scammer. This is outdated, now it requires your email and a whole process, and you just can't use your steam recovery code anymore.

It's ok. Thank you for replying and making this video since it helped people before steam changed its system to recover their accounts. It's steam's fault for this awful system. I would change the title to add a parenthesis saying outdated but I can' t control you and it's a place for people to talk about their stories. So thank you for making this video. Even if it is outdated.
