Just got my allocation for a 2018 GTS manual tranny but I wanted a GT3 in the beginning for performance and resale value. Since I saw this vid, no regret and I think I got the right car espicially because I do 100% crazy road, 0% track. I'm waiting for Leipzig delivery in October and road trip to the Alps and Meditarian Sea coastal roads. I'm limited to 6,000km so I think I will have to drop the Transfagarasan highway in Romania.
Very impressive - one question I believe that this time is set on the OEM mounted tires right ! The new 991.2 GT3 time was set on the new Michelin Cup 2 tires I believe So if the GTS was mounted with the same tires the difference would be even smaller which just makes this GTS even more impressive 👍
Awesome driving as always, Christian!! I'm on the list for a 991.2 GT3 and should have it later this year. I drove a 991.2 Carrera S and was very impressed with the daily drive ability and fun of the new 3.0L Turbo engine. Honestly, I think I'd like a GTS better around town than the GT3, but my head tells me to get the GT3 because it won't depreciate like the GTS. Either way, I'm not complaining, but I do really like the GTS.
The optional Cup 2 Mercedes uses is not your regular Cup 2 tire...just so you know. There are two Cup 2 tires for the GT R. One is standard and the other one is only available through AMG Performance Studio (the one they tested the car with). Try to get it... LOL
He seems to be revving it out to much - high RPM in corner entries, then immediately shifting on exit or right after - not short shifting and using the torque that it has. Not my technique but he is still a beast. The car .. has got more left in it
At first I was wondering about some of those downshifts as well, but two things: 1) If you watch closely he does not appear to be using the paddles at all, so I suspect the PDK programming is making those decisions on its own, and 2): That is Christian Gebhardt, and if he is asking for that shift then who are you or I to argue with him?
I do think, so I had driven new BMW M4 with Corsa N0 and it was OK, but the same BMW back in 2017 April swapped to a Cup 2 and the grip levels were superb compared to Corsa N0s, Just try it once, the Cup 2 offer more GRIP
Kaisuke971 Pilot Sport Cup 2's are much grippier than P Zero Corsas. They rival the Trofeo R's so yeah. 10 seconds can be she'd off this lap with that rubber considering that the track is 20.8 KM long and the car did want to oversteer with the Corsas. 7:15 is entirely possible with the Cup 2's.
giorgio tsoukalos No, both engines sound different. 3.0 engine with PSE sounds almost like the previous n/a engine, while the 3.8 sounds very muted, probably due to the VTG chargers used.
Love the gt3, but it's so expensive I'd be worried about putting too many miles on it.. If I could afford a 911 I'd go for a GTS and drive it everywhere
I read on other comments here that many viewers would buy the GTS, but instead they opt for the GT3 because of the resale value! Totally understandable of course but sad at the same time. Also it escape me how a car that most likely can endure a much harder life on the race track, like the GT3, can retain value like that!
Not necessarily. The new PZero Corsa N0 is quite capable. There is going to be a new Trofeo R soon which will deliver very impressive performance. Not sure however it will be available in GTS size and/or with Porsche blessing (N rating).
Porsche has made huge strategic mistakes with the 991.1 GT3 RS and this leads me to go now for another brand after 5 Porsche GT cars with intensive track use: 1) 7,000 units built vs 2,000 initially announced by Porsche 2) GTS model faster on the Ring "Thank you" VW influence 👎
No idea where you got that thing with the 7000 vs 2000 units from - sure not from a Porsche announcement. The Manthey optimized GT3 RS did 7:09.59 - no engine tuning, but some changes to the suspension geometry and magnesium wheels. If the changes are worth 15 seconds... who knows. But there is no evidence that the new GTS is faster than the 991.1 GT3RS.
Such early steering input before entering a corner, what a legend. Gebhardt is an undisputed king of the nordschleife.
Exhilarating! Beautiful sound at the top end of the rev range.
That approach to the finish line is killer!!
Didn't see much time left in that lap!
That wicked fast time bests both the Ferrari Enzo and KTM X-Bow R!!
This guy is totally going full send. Love it!

hahahahaha
Phantom clutch hand/foot is a real thing
and still better than the 992 gts...how can it be?!?
Whats the 992 gts time?
@@mariodiniz21 I guess we'll never know. Also what's the 911.1 GTS time?

Anders Jensen The GTS uses the new Generation of P Zero Corsa Tires, which should be close to the Cup2.
Pat Rick thank you - I drove the GTS on public roads and it was pretty impressive - but I never checked the tires -:)
I am pretty sure your GTS had PZero and not the Corsa. ;-)
That is a lot of driving skill with stock car. Awesome🏁
What a lap! Heads up to Christian!
295 km/h on the dottinger hohe WOW! from 450 hp engine...

GTS does not depreciate much. They hold their value amazingly well! I love mine. Perfect balance of race and daily driver. 👌
Wow that car is fast. Great driver

Not if the optional tire is easily available... Ask Mercedes and their new AMG GT R about it. LOL

how is possible than the 992 carrera s with same horsepower did 7.30 and the 991.2 s 7.33?

You can see the PDCC button, so yes.
guys stupid question, traction control was on or 1 or 2?!?
@sportautos is this GTS an AWD or RWD ?

Didn't Porsche themselves claim 7:26 with the p zeros...?
