Actually, with the way they are Progressive, "partners" is pretty much the perfect description. They spend a lot of time together before going in a romantic direction. But yes, I'd have enjoyed Alice's reaction if she had lead with marriage. :D
I honestly don't get why people ship kirito and alice, I mean kirito is a human with a human flesh body in the real world. he can't grow old and have a family with alice and leave his world behind, his body would die and so would he, like how people died in sao. not only that his mind was already being messed up from the speed up of time while he was in the underworld for 2 years, and that was before him and asuna stayed there for 200 years. and alice doesn't even have a real body, she's an ai, they're trying to ship an ai with a human and somehow expect them to be able to grow old and have a family together when one has a physical body that will die without being taken care of in the real world and the other is a virtual body. also thats also ignoring the fact that 1. kirito loves asuna and missed her for the entire 2 years and is engaged to her. and 2. he would leave his family and friends behind and asuna if he stayed in there with alice. only reason he could bear being in the world for 200 years was asuna. if kirito was there alone he wouldn't be able to take it. he was already struggling to take it getting worse and worse as time went on the 2 years constantly missing asuna and tearing up, he just hid it well from everyone in the underworld. and if their excuse is rath making families there in the underworld's founding, no, they didn't, their ai clones did.

In the Light Novel, after the girls’ night long discussion, Kirito clarified to Asuna that there is really nothing going on with him and the other girls. I love the reassurance. Sadly it wasnt shown in the anime.

The Harem is just a joke among the fans because the majority of Kirito's friends happen to be girls. Anyway, even in cultures where its acceptable for a rich guy to have a harem, he usually has kids with his concubines too, not just his official wife.

I still find this hilarious. Asuna wins this one *every* time. No one else comes even _remotely_ close. However, I genuinely do not understand why they won't just say, "We're a couple" in general, and Asuna not saying "He's my fiance" in this particular instance. Instead, they're comparing stats just like they're still in high school. It's funnier for he audience I suppose. Kirito is the one who finally made Asuna feel safe in the death game, and stopped her having nightmares every night. Kirito pledged *his life* to Asuna _when they were in a death game_. They got married to ach other in-game. They adopted a child together and formed a family. Asuna *literally died* (sacrificed her own life) to save Kirito's life. (She had no way of knowing she would be allowed to live by Kayaba) Kirito *let himself be killed* rather than live without Asuna. It has only been thinking of Asuna that has given Kirito the strength to get through some of the hardest moments of his life. (Only exception is the end of the Sword Alice Online arc.) They have said to each other that they love each other IRL, and Kirito has given Asuna an engagement ring IRL, making Asuna is fiancee. Kirito threw himself in front of a poison attack IRL to protect Asuna *and would have died* if not for the medicuboid. He again, and IRL, shielded his fiancee with his own life. This alone is *more* than enough to show the depth of feelings involved between these two. This is *true love* like Farmboy Westley and Princess Buttercup, not just some rando guy dating a rando girl in high school. Alice's feelings are genuine, but they are the feeling of a ronin -- a samurai who has lost their master. Layered into that is her own new feelings at being freed from unknowing servitude to an Eeeevil Overlord. Alice is full of feelings of honour, duty, and obligation, and some budding affection, all of which develop over those 6 months of pushing AFK Kirito around. She feels these feelings strongly, but they are almost all hard-edged feelings. Duty. Obligation. Guilt. There's gratitude and affection -- but she never knew about Asuna. I am sure that if Alice had known about Asuna she would never have allowed herself to develop feelings for Kirito as it would have been dishonourable. And she would still have taken care of Kirito out of those same feelings of guilt and notions of honour, duty, and obligation. But for Kirito it will never *not* be Asuna. They're both just too polite to get into anyone else's faces about it, and they each know that the other would never betray them or their shared love.

Many people like SAO because of it’s action, interesting storyline, adventure. But for me I like it mainly because of Asuna and Kirito, there love for each other just makes my heart full of joy.
I know nobody asked however I wish to say that it was the actions and the sound effects for the sword fights or duels i dunno the proper term. That brought me in and kept me I can’t believe that it feels like forever sense I got to see a new episode. I still remember fondly waiting for all of those episodes and now most of the episodes are dubbed for it.
I love their relationship and hate the harem and the plot. At this point, I hate watch SAO but enjoy the Kiri-Asu bits I get, which were basically none in Alicization.

I will never understand why asuna didn't clear up the misunderstanding from the beginning. If you have a problem with Alice calling him so familiarly, then tell her, "im his fiancee. Asuna and Kirito have had sex and even have a simulated family with Yuna being their daughter. Alice is like the girl from work thinking she knows a man better than her wife despite the fact that the wife has seen parts of the husband that no one in the world has or ever will see. Asuna needed to put her foot down. "I appreciate what you've done for kirito, and I don't think I'll ever be able to make up this favor, but its obvious you have feelings for him. I understand. It might be a little out of character for her, but its what she needed to say. Perhaps it's trust in kirito, but you can't leave them all thinking that they actually have a chance at stealing him from you. Otherwise, they'll just be trouble

Eugeo wasn't okay with dying, but he pretended to be okay so his best friend wouldn't feel guilty about it, as Kirito didn't have the resources to heal him. Deep down he wanted to live and see the world where Kirito came from, which is why he couldn't hold back his tears in the end. He wanted to see everything and learn much more, which is where his love for study comes from. His tragedy was that he could never escape the world that always restricted him and only when he died he was finally free but not in the way he wanted to.

The scene were they are arguing about who has known Kirito longer would have been even funnier if Suguha was involved. As his sister, she would have known Kirito the longest out of all the girls both the harem members and non-harem members alike. If Alice was jealous of Suguha, that would have made things even more funny and priceless. Well that and Yui making an appearance in the UW. Especially considering Yui does look she is related to Kirito and Asuna, even if she is only adopted.
I think Sugu’s experience with Kirito would be a given since she is his sister. If Alice knew that, I don’t think she’d be too shocked. It’s not like Sugu can ever reveal to anyone besides Kirito that she had a crush on her own blood relative.

I honestly don't get why people ship kirito and alice, I mean kirito is a human with a human flesh body in the real world. he can't grow old and have a family with alice and leave his world behind, his body would die and so would he, like how people died in sao. not only that his mind was already being messed up from the speed up of time while he was in the underworld for 2 years, and that was before him and asuna stayed there for 200 years. and alice doesn't even have a real body, she's an ai, they're trying to ship an ai with a human and somehow expect them to be able to grow old and have a family together when one has a physical body that will die without being taken care of in the real world and the other is a virtual body. also thats also ignoring the fact that 1. kirito loves asuna and missed her for the entire 2 years and is engaged to her. and 2. he would leave his family and friends behind and asuna if he stayed in there with alice. only reason he could bear being in the world for 200 years was asuna. if kirito was there alone he wouldn't be able to take it. he was already struggling to take it getting worse and worse as time went on the 2 years constantly missing asuna and tearing up, he just hid it well from everyone in the underworld. and if their excuse is rath making families there in the underworld's founding, no, they didn't, their ai clones did.

In the Light Novel, after the girls’ night long discussion, Kirito clarified to Asuna that there is really nothing going on with him and the other girls. I love the reassurance. Sadly it wasnt shown in the anime.

They got married to ach other in-game.

Asuna *literally died* (sacrificed her own life) to save Kirito's life. (She had no way of knowing she would be allowed to live by Kayaba)
Kirito *let himself be killed* rather than live without Asuna.
It has only been thinking of Asuna that has given Kirito the strength to get through some of the hardest moments of his life. (Only exception is the end of the Sword Alice Online arc.)
They have said to each other that they love each other IRL, and Kirito has given Asuna an engagement ring IRL, making Asuna is fiancee.
Kirito threw himself in front of a poison attack IRL to protect Asuna *and would have died* if not for the medicuboid. He again, and IRL, shielded his fiancee with his own life.
This alone is *more* than enough to show the depth of feelings involved between these two. This is *true love* like Farmboy Westley and Princess Buttercup, not just some rando guy dating a rando girl in high school.
Alice's feelings are genuine, but they are the feeling of a ronin -- a samurai who has lost their master. Layered into that is her own new feelings at being freed from unknowing servitude to an Eeeevil Overlord.
Alice is full of feelings of honour, duty, and obligation, and some budding affection, all of which develop over those 6 months of pushing AFK Kirito around. She feels these feelings strongly, but they are almost all hard-edged feelings. Duty. Obligation. Guilt. There's gratitude and affection -- but she never knew about Asuna. I am sure that if Alice had known about Asuna she would never have allowed herself to develop feelings for Kirito as it would have been dishonourable. And she would still have taken care of Kirito out of those same feelings of guilt and notions of honour, duty, and obligation.
But for Kirito it will never *not* be Asuna. They're both just too polite to get into anyone else's faces about it, and they each know that the other would never betray them or their shared love.

I know nobody asked however I wish to say that it was the actions and the sound effects for the sword fights or duels i dunno the proper term. I still remember fondly waiting for all of those episodes and now most of the episodes are dubbed for it.
I love their relationship and hate the harem and the plot. At this point, I hate watch SAO but enjoy the Kiri-Asu bits I get, which were basically none in Alicization.

I will never understand why asuna didn't clear up the misunderstanding from the beginning. If you have a problem with Alice calling him so familiarly, then tell her, "im his fiancee. Yes I think the author f*cked up at times and should had consider it more. The harem barely holds presence in the story. The girls hardly show up after conquering them, that’s why Alice is seen more favorable to fans.

Eugeo wasn't okay with dying, but he pretended to be okay so his best friend wouldn't feel guilty about it, as Kirito didn't have the resources to heal him.
Deep down he wanted to live and see the world where Kirito came from, which is why he couldn't hold back his tears in the end.
He wanted to see everything and learn much more, which is where his love for study comes from. His tragedy was that he could never escape the world that always restricted him and only when he died he was finally free but not in the way he wanted to.

The scene were they are arguing about who has known Kirito longer would have been even funnier if Suguha was involved.
As his sister, she would have known Kirito the longest out of all the girls both the harem members and non-harem members alike.
If Alice was jealous of Suguha, that would have made things even more funny and priceless. Well that and Yui making an appearance in the UW. Especially considering Yui does look she is related to Kirito and Asuna, even if she is only adopted.

I think Sugu’s experience with Kirito would be a given since she is his sister. If Alice knew that, I don’t think she’d be too shocked. It’s not like Sugu can ever reveal to anyone besides Kirito that she had a crush on her own blood relative.

Wow, was this episode really from 2 years ago. I just watched the dub because it released recently.
Man I miss how good the Japanese dubbing sounds the quality of the recordings sound so much better produced. The audio engineers in the dubbing department there really know what they are doing.

The anime did this. In the novels, their relationship is a lot more lively and romantic. Plus Asuna is more possessive in the novels.
