that is amazing that it was such an easy install. And so much quieter. As always - good video - thanks~
I love where you’re standing and talking to us about camping gear!
Ya I love the contrast. Thank You . Check my other videos th-cam.com/users/cosmoweems SUBSCRIBE th-cam.com/users/cosmoweems?sub_confirmation=1.
Pretty simple, but important modification. I'm sure you guys will appreciate it on the road. The village looks mighty cold!

Thank you, Cosmo!
Awesome! That fixes the only complaint I have ever heard about the heater.
It silences the complaints ha ha ha ha. Ya I agree. its a good solution. I tolerated the noise but for $30 it can be reduced quite a bit. Thank You Check my other videos th-cam.com/users/cosmoweems SUBSCRIBE th-cam.com/users/cosmoweems?sub_confirmation=1
Thanks for the upgrade. I have the HS2800 and will be contacting Westy soon. Thanks.

I will have to install mine in my caravan project soon and I previously ordered the noise reduction ducting: I was also planning like you to add that duct to the air intake side. I am pleased to hear from you that the noise reduction is quite important!
By the way, the longest is the silent ducting, the more noise reduction you will get.
Sure is a very good option this it seems. And that noise reduction makes a huge difference. Well done.
Thank you, John. Thank You =Cosmo Check my other videos th-cam.com/users/cosmoweems SUBSCRIBE th-cam.com/users/cosmoweems?sub_confirmation=1.

Cool info! Probably would be good info if someone's doing their own camper/conversion builds too
That was quick!
Ya thanks for the tip. Westy venture is out of them and ordering more.
Cool Channel, love your experiments and your nice trailer, well done! Totally inspiring..if I would do more winter camping with your camper I would try 2 -3 tiny mods to it.... One is, put silicon around the out side bolts which contribute to a cold bridge..I took a parfume or other cab, filled it with silicone and put that over screws and bolts which stick out on the out side let it dry and remove the cab..so you got a rubberized screw..done....door metallic liners which will freeze up condenstation on the lower part of any Rv, the same..tape an insulation tape on the respective areas ( few cm) for the winter and that bridge is " almost banned"..the large window above your head rest I would prepare a sheet of hollow alumina insulation stuff and cover the window from the out side in no tiime..this is also good for sun protection..and when a comes to b.. I would make a 90 degree air intake pipe ( with the cardboard pipe leftover) to your heater with a little hole pointing near floor of the cabin..then I woiuld take small wood pales ( wood stripes) just 1 or 1,5 nch high so your matress rest above an air pocket and the air intake draws air under,..that will greatly reduce energy consumption and facilitate comfort or any condensation..budget 20 bucks, done ( if your air outlet woule point 10 -20 degree upwards you would ger a nice convection as well..) I added a flloor heater ( like a heated blanket in my older Rv which operated with 1-2 amps shore power but that lowered the well feel height ( its not a a heat pocket at the Ceiling) and I was feelimg comfortable at 16-17 Degree C rather than 21 ( I measure at my nose).. Finally I could Rv with 7 kg Propane at the temps you descirbed...PS the 500 Watt heater may be good with a better fan..I got one called Ecomat ( Switzerland) ball bearing blowet and self adjusted fan speed I can heat a 7,5 m Rv down to 0 degree ( CENTIGRADE) out side, a minus 17 ( 1 F) would need 750 for sleep and 1500 Watts daytime..the double floor or heated floor makes the difference..
Looking forward for your next snow endeavors..
I will investigate your ideas! Thank You for sharing =Cosmo
@@CosmoWeems! thanks for your reply and Happy,⛺ Camping!
Oddly enough I found the heater sound relaxing. Reminds me of the old hair dryer that has the hose and plastic cap. LOL

Nice, I had no idea they offered this ducting. I've tried several times to quiet mine without success.

@TOM ARCHER 🤣 too funny
cheers mate, mine comes on with a 'growl'...so will definitely look at doing this mod.

Nice informative video, but that keyword stuffing is on another level lol. Could you also cover the noise from outside for those of us doing stealth camping? I've seen people put mufflers on the outside but I'd love to know if it can be heard from the sidewalk if it's parked on the road for example. Keep up the great work!
think with a muffler or not you might hear this if you are parked on a quiet street. I suppose the biggest stealth giveaway that police look for are steamed up windows. Thank You. Check my other videos th-cam.com/users/cosmoweemsvideos SUBSCRIBE th-cam.com/users/cosmoweems
It is BEST to have 2 separate Carbon Monoxcide detectors... Should one FAIL, you always have that SAFETY factor of the second detector .... It COULD mean the difference between "life or death" ... Just a "suggestion" to those that heat in RVs, Campers, Vans, etc ...
good to know the propex is a heat exchanger

Hi, nice video, useful info! How noisy is the exhaust pipe? I’d like to stealth camp in my van on a city street, but Im worried the exhaust pipe noise will give me away! Perhaps you have an install video, I’ll look for that next, thanks :)
I miss your video’s Cosmo.
Thanks David I will be on the road again soon. =Cosmo
Why no videos on winter camping?
I am trapped in NYC for a while I covered this in a prior video about the heater.. I just cant get away right now until this obligation is under control. Thank You =Cosmo Check my other videos th-cam.com/users/cosmoweems SUBSCRIBE th-cam.com/users/cosmoweems?sub_confirmation=1.
Where in your links is the duct?
Any suggestions on where to buy a unit for us DIY guys?
Hi Raul. The heaters are sold by Westy-Ventures westyventures.com/propex.html My model is the HS2000 it looks pretty easy (for me) to install. Thank You =Cosmo Check my other videos th-cam.com/users/cosmoweems SUBSCRIBE th-cam.com/users/cosmoweems?sub_confirmation=1.
What fitting did you use to connect your propane hose to the heater seen at 2:45 in the video? I just bought the propex heater and have been having a lot of trouble figuring out was size fitting to use.
Hi Chris. Not sure. Call Vistabule.com they installed my heater. Thank You for watching. Check my other videos th-cam.com/users/cosmoweemsvideos

I'm looking at making a sauna..
How HOT do you think heat from a ProPex HS2800 (6500 BTU/hr) into a 64 cu. ft space would get? Do you think it would be capable of reaching 180F?
No Its not designed for that. But if you want more than an uninformed opinion contact Propex.Thank You for watching. Check my other videos th-cam.com/users/cosmoweemsvideos

So, what was the decibel reading after install?
I cant remember its in the video. Definite improvement! I sleep much better with the lower noise level. 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘 and contributing to the conversation! =𝓒𝓸𝓼𝓶𝓸 ✅

Hi, I'm still searching for that acoustic duct but never found where I can buy it. Someone have an idea? I tried a lot of keywords but never found that kind of duct. Is the diameter 3 or 4 inches? Is it synthetics/wool inside the duct too, or it is in aluminium? All the acoustic duct I found is a lot bigger, or is made of aluminium inside.
Did you buy the vancafe US model or import the UK version? What propane regulator are you using
Disregard, westy so us version. Hmm ok need to find someone with a UK version
Ya sorry I cant help with the UK version, But I do have more heat videos! th-cam.com/play/PLVxlmS-2xmBXuw07Z0kTJx-muYQLCyU0I.html Thanks for watching =Cosmo

You're going to Propex your eye out!
Somebody died from a Buddy Heater? It has an oxygen sensor that shuts it down if DO gets too low. To prevent it from depleting the oxygen, and shutting down, requires adequate ventilation which at the same time would ostensibly dilute any carbon monoxide to the point it is undetectable. And apparently that mode of operation is successful. At least that's been my experience. I use a Buddy Heater a lot and have checked the concentration of carbon monoxide many times and it has never gotten above zero according to the device doing the monitoring (there is a recallable meter on the monitoring device/alarm). And I've done a fair amount of informal research on-line and to my knowledge there has never been a case of oxygen depletion or carbon monoxide contamination that has resulted in a human, or any other mammalian, death resulting from use of a Mr Heater. If you have a literature cite or some other source please pass it on.
In my opinion, the Mr Heater heaters are not the most desirable heater on the market. Those that exhaust to the exterior are more desirable. But they are inexpensive and effective. And easy to set up since they do not require any permanent duct work, wiring, or gas lines or electricity. And in my experience, safe use is attainable with adequate ventilation. I have not experienced any excessive condensation BTW. The principle negative of my Mr Heater is the fact that even at the low setting, 4000 BTU's, it provides too much heat since it is not controlled by a thermostat.
Soooooooooo... my Buddy Heater is BETTER than your blowy Propex! Kidding. I like Propex heaters. However, there are heaters on the market that are thermostatically controlled and are passive in the sense that they do not require electricity. So are better for boon-docking.
Do tell? What other thermostatically controlled heaters are there than require no electricity and are vented externally - available in the USA?
