Few guitarists have left a legacy that garnered so much loyalty from their fans, but Darrell Abbott did. I think those that didn't appreciate Darrell for his contributions to music simply didn't understand him. One day I seen a video of Steve Vai playing and he was using a Dimebag Wah pedal, while I know it's not part of his signature setup it does show that even Vai had a level of respect for him. Then ya see people like John 5 (outstanding player) playing at Dimefest and it really reminds us what we lost when we lost Darrell Abbott. He's probably the only player that I listen to every single day...... We miss ya Dime, but you'll live on in our hearts forever....
He's not switching a ton of pedals or amp channels, yet he makes every song sound as close to the original as possible. Unless a tech is scrambling to do it for him, this is amazing!

John 5 is a beast on the guitar man.. and the songs he picked for this medley was just killer.. they all fit so well with what he was doing.. and he didn't do just all metal either, he mixed it up and that was awesome the way he did it.. very cool.. thanks for sharing this video.. it's amazing.. cheers..

Nonsense. The soul of the notes and any after spice comes from the hands, but the TONE comes from the gear, gain staging, mic placement, etc. Core tone comes from gear. Period. And you'll NEVER get the sound right without the proper gear. Like don't go for a heavy Metallica type tone with open back 1x12 combos and Fender single coil pickups.
