Honestly so refreshing to hear this mature a take on the Drake stuff. There’s a thorough understanding of the artist here with no bad faith arguments aimed at his character. Bravo.

I was surprised this didn't come up but to me the vitriol for drake definitely comes from 1, a decline music quality and over saturation of low quality music over the years and also him implying that Megan thee stallion lied about sh*t by Tory Lanez which is why ppl get very hostile when he talks about women especially black women on his songs.

Somehow they avoided all substantive critiques. Instead they acted as if everyone was just hating on him.

I’m a pop culture enthusiast and typically enjoy this podcast, but I wish they would’ve researched the discourse around Drake more before diving in with their opinions. And if they did research, but chose to not mention the stuff they found about Drake’s unfortunate actions, that’s not cool either.
I used to be a Drake fan myself, but there’s too many receipts on terrible things he’s said and done the past few years and I really just no longer care about what he has to say. If a person is acting shitty, I think it’s ok to refuse to engage with their content.
I personally don’t feel like the hosts are aware of the conversations and evidence surrounding Drake lately, and as a pop culture podcast, that’s not ok. Research is a main part of that pedestal.
I hope they do more investigation instead of just opinions in the future.

Some brutal Drake takes in this and some clear reaches trying to play contrarian and defend him lol
Basically everything since "Scorpion" has been mid. Sure, the present moralizing about him is weird, but you don't even really have to go there to come at him for just releasing literal hours of inessential music at this point that recycle the same tired, navel-gazing themes. I've felt this way in some fashion since "Views."
