@TeddyRadko thank you teddy! Me and my husband were just taking about how we needed some really good mountain maps for some build ideas we had! Stellar map making!
For one reason or another, I just can't warm up to CS2. Thankfully, CS1 is still alive and well. Thank you Egg, and thank you to all the Modders that are keeping it going. You guys are all amazing.
I am with you on that, when CS2 came out I was straight in there relishing the prospect of a new game. Within hours I had, had enough, it seemed clinical, lifeless with all the maps looking similar and a lot smaller than CS1, after 3 months I binned it and did play CS for nearly a year. When I came back to CS1 the game was buggered, my mods were not working and I could not get half my assets and it took a while to sort it all out. I saw a vid from somebody the other day about a city in CS2 where it had a million and a half population, it was just one big grid, lifeless and souless, it was nothing special. They will have to make the map a lot bigger on CS2 before I come back to it, they all look the same and it is boring, plus there is too much wrong with the game, too many little things where you go "f*** off and not bother with it.
I would love to see you start a new vanilla series in the future on one of these maps (either a metropolis type of build, or on some of the more terrain challenging maps with smaller town vibes scattered around) and it could even be a weekly livestream of just building and chatting. You always have such interesting ideas of peacing different things together and creating amazing vanilla builds. As a console CS1 player I appreciate the inspiration so much. Keep up the amazing work and CS1 content, Egg!
the first and second map packs often had really flat terrain followed by incredibly steep mountains (always having the rock texture) and no in between, this has more variety which is great because i like building small towns and villages in the around the maps
100% this. Even in the workshop, trying to find a european or temperate map with good foothills to build on is a challenge. I like to build oldtown areas going up the hill with the more modern city centre at the base, taking inspiration from places like Lincoln (uk) but just on a bigger scale.
I actually couldn't find anything I didn't like about any of the maps and loved all of the ploppable intersections. That's a hard pack to make a choice about which to do first!! Thanks for showing us Egg🤩 Thanks @TeddyRadko for some great work for us to enjoy!
So glad we're getting more vanilla CS1 content! Also, Karstlands really reminds me of the "Lagoon Rollercoaster" maps from Trackmania, and I believe the "extra supports" on the bridges are intended to be barriers to stop ships damaging the bridges if they go off-course.
I am just blown away by these new maps with the level of detail, and those road networks are divine. We have come a long way from playing on Diamond Coast. I'm so excited for the next Rannock video to see if these new additions make it into the city. It's funny, both CS1 and CS2 had announcements today, but I am far more excited for the CS1 stuff. I hope these DLC get a lot of sales, they both deserve it big time. I'd love to see what @TeddyRadko can come up with using the finished map editor for CS2, or even the version that exists now. These maps are far the best to come out of vanilla CS1.
Love these new maps! I love how they have infrastructure set up so it's less daunting to start a new city. The plopable interchanges and scenarios just seal the deal. Great work Teddy!
These maps are so well designt, I really think to switch back to CS1 for a ride. Wishlist and Purchase tomorrow is obvious, but please ask Teddy to create such a map for part 2 :D
Think you're talking about Yangshuo County in Guilin,China for the Karstland map. It's a beautiful area with tourism as its main industry. There's a lot of small subsistence villages nestled between the mountains. The map even has that tunnel leading from the HSR and highway system into their downtown included.
Been playing on console since I sold my PC. Bought this IMMEDIATELY after watching your video specifically for the interchanges. Can't wait to build on the new maps too!
I'm stoked for Caldera County & Nordheim. Caldera reminds me of Two Rivers, a base game map with an oversized lake. Also, those interchanges are well worth the price of admission.
These maps are soo good. I couldn't have picked a better time to finally start to play this game again for the first time since 2016. I was having a really hard time trying to pick a map (especially since the preview on the game menu is terrible for an overall view), so i was going through a ton of your other map ranking videos for dlcs i have lol. Only a couple really stood out to me, mainly Pearl Bay which does look super fun, but then i saw that this pack just came out. I am definitely buying this pack for that caldera map specifically. That was one of those instant "yeah that map is perfect for me" type moments. Love the map concept, and it looks like it has really nice features for all aspects of the game as well. Actually for some reason missed the fact that it doesn't have outside water connections (understandably so) which is a bit annoying to me since I kinda did want some cool ports. But i think that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make now, I'll just have to go even more into trains, and i might even cave and buy the airports dlc just to have that option too.
Maybe you could do a short series on Nordheim or Expedition Harbor With small towns, make like distant neighbors of Rannoch on the same waterway. Maybe more industrial with logging, fishing like the American Pacific Northwest. I really loved the Prussian Peaks livestreams, maybe that could be similar!
Caldera reminds me of the land around Rotorua or Taupo in New Zealand, with volcanic craters and a large lake. Promise Island is very much like Thessia. Similar to places found in far north Queensland, Australia. I need those interchanges! Lol!
Tranquility Cove is based on San Fransisco Bay, with the starting tile featuring the Bay Bridge. The bridge at the end of the peninsula is the Golden Gate, and there is even a small island for Alcatraz. It's actually a shame for me, as I've been working on a faux San Fransisco on Azure Gulf for a few months now
Interchanges were LOOOOONG overdue, cause I for one sucked at making useful interchanges, so I can definitely use this on one of my cities i'm struggling with now lol
I would have liked more focus on the starting tile and central 25. My reactions: Caldera - looks good Expedition - barely has any buildable area. Pass. Fondue - looks challenging, but interesting Karstlands - very cool detailing Milestone - definitely looks intriguing Nordheim - I feel like this one will be deceptively difficult Orca - for small villages and towns only. Probably a pass. Promise - Feels difficult, but I'll need to try it to know for sure Redcliff - Worth considering, despite being more rural-focused Tranquility - very eye-catching Intersections - wee! This will be easier than making my own when they work out well.
Kinda makes you wonder if there was a way to make the trenches into aqueducts like the Romans did to get water into the city and into the farmlands. That would be so cool to see.
Fondue lake is based on the heightmap around Lucerne and the Vierwaldstättersee in Switzerland and the tropical map is based on the Yangshuo valley in China. Would love to know where the others are based upon.
I really wish they'd allow creators to make more snow maps. I know there's an issue with them only working for people who have the snowfall DLC, so they don't want people to buy it without knowing, but surely they can make this clear? Anyway, great looking maps.
I clicked on a map 5 days ago, it seemed like the perfect map for me, if only I had zoomed in a bit more. At first glance it seemed like the map I was looking for, high mountains where I could make a waterfall and a river course to the main body of water. So I got the map and went straight in (modded) and spent 3 or 4 hours doing the waterfall and a meandering river to the sea, there was some leakage from the river which created lakes so I incorporated that in as well, it looked quite good if I say so myself. Once I had done that I went in to start the city, OMG, what the hell. The highway, you could have built a city inbetween the two lanes, why would he put them so far apart. Vegetation, half the map has many, many, in fact a bloody lot of it plastered all over it, it has taken me hours to get rid of half of it, mountains, he has put flowering trees on top well above the treeline, if I had not spent so much time doing the waterfall and river I would have abandoned it. Some people are clueless when it comes to making maps, this guy tops the list so far. I should have taken more of a note about BonBonB and his map reviews. The space between the lanes of the highway was about 20 squares, why?
@@GULFISCOOL Campus, Plazas & Promenades, Airports are all very good. It all comes down to personal preference though. If you don't enjoy building universities for example, you won't really get much out of campus

Vanilla terraced rice farms is exactly what i was going for! Puts a massive smile on my face seeing you explore the maps :)
Great minds Teddy! Love this pack bro, you've outdone yourself!
@TeddyRadko you did incredible with this Teddy. Absolutely jumping as I still love playing CS1
