Brings back lots of memories working at this station I even remember the very day when it first became operational replacing London Road near Piccadilly Station
I remember watching this at the time in the 90s. I got the impression Bob was the sort of bloke who would back you up completely, but would be capable of delivering a very serious bollocking when it was due
paul sorry to hear about your dad my brother brookie worked on his shift i will mention ths to mick collins who was station officer at the time sending my deepest condolences to your family
Having been present when an idiot poured gasoline on a campfire, because the wood was wet and not lighting fast enough, causing a huge blast of flame, (which not only killed but blew apart the idiot), I have been afraid of big fires. I can't imagine the courage and devotion to duty of those men who went in knowing that the tanks could blow at any minute turning them into charcoal dust instantly. I respect FF's to the max and am extremely grateful knowing that they will come and deal with any kind of fire especially when people are at risk.
@@donnahill214 thank you donna hill and I've just retired after 30 years in the fire service. Same station/different watch to my dad is been in the service 2 years when that fire gear came in force great memories!!!
Yup. I was a teenager when these were shown. We’ve recently cancelled our Sky TV due to there being eff-all worth watching. I love TH-cam and it’s worth the 16 quid a month for the ad-free version as it means I can binge watch all these older shows!
Be great if you could locate and post the episode which followed the Humberside Police Roads Crime Section. It was titled "TWOC". Can't find it anywhere!
you dont have 45 mins to search/deal with casualties...you have 15/20 mins at best. 1/ you need enough air to "make the return journey" and 2/ The harder you are working...the faster your air runs out.
Anyone remember Spitting Image when it was first around in the 80s and 90s? I remember they used to take the piss out of Michael Beurk by putting him in random, non-emergency situations and him doing his miserable voice-over as it happened.
Oh I dont know, going to a RTA (or RTC these days) as a retained crew and your workmates son is dead in car and 2 kids are thrown onto a railway line wasnt a dream either. The speeding show off driver had cuts and bruises 😡
