    Bill, I know what that squeaking sound is: the rubber that goes around the fan spacer. It rubs against the bearing plate and, if dry, it will cause a squeak. A lot of grease on the rubber and spacer will help. That happened to me awhile back and it took me awhile to find out what it was.

      I figured it had to be something touching the front bearing plate, so I'll be glad when it's gone. :)

    Great video Bill. As an ex-Kirby dealer and service man, I think it is more fair to say that Kirbys are made in the USA from domestic and foreign parts. I seem to remember at one point, all the aluminum castings were made in Canada. Don't know if that is true any more or not.

    Great video! My Avalir developed the exact same squeak! I will definitely try this process to see if it makes it stop!

    You could use a deadblow mallet for removing those fan covers, so you have no risk of damage

    MY AVALIR HAS THE SAME RUN DOWN SQUEAK. IT'S HAD IT SINCE THE FIRST DAY, AND MINE WAS BRAND NEW. SO I THINK THAT'S A NORMAL SQUEAK.

    • @VacLab
      @VacLab  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Let's make it not normal and remove it. :)

      Probably a similar operating weirdness like the clicking on the g series when moving them in neutral, no issue just something you think would be

    Do Kirbys have a PCB inside the motor compartment? Because they have two speeds so I'm thinking they may have one :/

    • @VacLab
      @VacLab  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Multiple speeds can be achieved via multiple coil windings, which is what the Kirbys have. Take a peek at my D80 videos and you can see the two speed switch in action.
