Yes! I just bought a heritage 2 recently and have also bought the complete attachment set and rug renovator it was made in February of 1986 and is running like it just came out of the factory. Love your channel as well much love from a fellow Kirby enthusiast!
She pulled the new drive belt off of the Duster Brush. When the unit is packaged at the factory, the spare belt is slipped over the bristles of the Duster Brush. This helps to protect the bristles during shipment. In most cases, when the Dealer demonstrates the unit in the consumer's home, he/she removes the spare belt from the Duster Brush before demonstrating it ... so most people never see that it was on the Duster Brush during shipment.
I bought a Kirby from 1988, still in very good condition, runs well and I am surprised at the good suction power, I have taken it apart, cleaned it and put new motor carbon in it and polished it so it shines again, really good quality, does the company still make spare parts for heritage!!? because I expect it to last the rest of my life
Hi Colinatlantic. This was the first video owner's guide. It was introduced for the Heritage II in Beta format. It was later changed to VHS format for the Legend model.
@kirbyvacuums I was just wondering if there was a video like this for the classic III because I have the complete set and would love to see a video on how the shampooer works on that model
That hair on the narrator lol Had a demo for this model in our home when I was a kid. I was very impressed with it, but we couldn't afford something this pricy. I have the Diamond Edition now and love it.

Was convinced by another TH-camr to buy a Kirby. Found a Sentria 2. Totally blew my mind. Already had top of the line, expensive German vacuums, but the Kirby made my carpets cleaner than they've been in 20 years. Smelled like new! After watching his channels dustsucker competitions between different models where the Legend 2 won all the way up to the newest Avalir, which finally beat the Legend 2, I just had to have the old, and beautifully designed one. Finally found one in very good condition this week and it's a beauty. I think I'm terminally hooked on Kirbys! 😂
I love my Heritage 84, And am lucky to have the optional Handi-Butler. Why are the optional tools not covered in this video? Random question- Have you stopped manufacturing original Handi-Butler and Rug-Renovator belts? If so, Why?
The last model of the “Classic” Kirby design and last non-TechDrive model before the Generation series was introduced. I’ve never used or even seen one, but I’d love to buy one used!
Hi Daconthocon78. The Generation 3 model was manufactured from 1990 to 1993. Kirby vacuums are only sold through in-home demonstrations. Our company was founded on this sales model and we believe in continuing it. It provides an opportunity for countless people to own their own business. It also allows consumer to try the unit in their home before making a purchase as well as to receive complete instructions on how to use all of the amazing Kirby features. Thanks for asking!
still have our heritage 2 from when I was a kid, I recently fixed it up cause it was working(corroded relay issue) but man this thing blows all these newer weak bagless vacuums out of the water! Love it just wish i still had all the attachments.
I bought the same model a few years ago got it fixed I'm still amazed how well it still works now maybe the reason is taking good care of it being cleaned and polished and some spare parts being replaced as needed
The belt that was installed on the rug nozzle at the factory is the soft gray belt (159056). However, the spare belt is the stronger flat one (301282).
The reason why the old-fashioned Sani-Pocket/Sani Em-Tor option didn't click with many new Kirby buyers in the 1984-90 period was because unlike the then-new Mini Em-Tor/disposable bag option, the rear wheel axle was different depending on the bag setup. The Sani-Pocket/Sani Em-Tor-equipped Heritage IIs used the shorter #102080 rear axle while the Mini Em-Tor-equipped models used the longer #102084 rear axle (making the rear wheels stick out more, thus the Sani Em-Tor won't fit right).
That Is Kirby Heritage 2 And Legend Starship Care System Owner's Video. It Is Extremely Nice Machine. I Haven't Use Kirby Heritage 2 Starship Care System.
Hi Daconthocon78. This was the first unit video and it just covered some of the basics. Future videos went into more detail - and as a result are longer in length. Thanks for your question!
This was the first Kirby model to be sold with either the new-to-this-model Mini Em-Tor or with the Sani Em-Tor, the latter of which came with the old-fashioned "reusable bag" option. But by the time this machine was updated in 1987 to the "Heritage II Legend" and in 1989 to "Legend II," the latter option quickly fell out of favor with most new Kirby buyers. Even the smaller 13" wide nozzle option (a pre-1970 artifact) didn't exactly click among those who bought a new Kirby.
Man growing up my mom has a Heritage 2 Kirby my Grandma had a Heritage 2 until she gave it to me and she had all the attachments that she also gave to me and I bought a Heritage II from a thrift store and now I have to Heritage 2 vacuum cleaners but thank you for posting the video because I almost put the dang floor polisher brush into shampooer deal because I thought that was an extra brush and I'm glad I watched this purse to find out I was about to screw it up LOL but I got all the extra nozzle attachments and upholstery shampooer and I've been having a watch all the videos about this old vacuum to figure everything out that I haven't used before one thing I am missing is the zip brush though I wish I had that, that thing looks really slick
If I had to choose one Kirby, a difficult decision, it would have to be the Heritage 2. It is my opinion that it is the best well-rounded Kirby ever made. I own the Heritage 2 Legend with the 13 inch nozzle and it is my favorite out of the other Kirby vacuums I own.
Matt, your thoughts are interesting for me now....b/c I own a Sentria I, but am thinking about getting a Heritage 2 right now on CL. I know you own other models, do you still feel its as good as you posted your thoughts 4 years ago? I suspect, one should upgrade the brush roller (ball bearings and better brushes )on the Heritage 2, put in a good HEPA filter, belt, and maybe replace the fan.....what are your thoughts? the Later G series had the Techdrive, but this model should be lighter/simpler...even though that TEchdrive is supposed to make it much easier to vacuum, right?
I love my Classic 3 most of all. Metal fan blade no bags to replace you just vacuum and dump into a garbage can off the side of your deck and your good to go again. 40 years old and only needs a belt replaced every few years.

I even know that the 1950s/'60s Kirby logos continued being used on certain parts of the cleaner up to the Heritage 1HD (including the power cord), while the 1968-design plastic spray jar with said logo lasted until the Legend II was replaced by the Generation 3.
You're correct again, Wouldn't it be nice if they had a 500-series lightweight model again, with an actual MOTOR-DRIVEN Handi-Butler and Accessories? Is it likely to happen? No. But there's always the big release next year of the Centennial model.
Hi ClassicTVMan1981X. They sure could! This video really just showed the basics of the unit. Future videos went in to more depth covering many of the other features.
Only the dark gray Heritage 1HD Rug Renovator/Miracle Head casting (303282) and the very early version of the Heritage II equivalent (supplied with units built prior to December 1984) will work on the Classic Omega, Classic III and Tradition as well... most of the Heritage II and subsequent Reno Group nozzle castings, on those units built from serial number X8412XXXXX (December 1984) don't have that one attaching lug which would jibe with the 134374 speed switch used on the Omega/III/Tradition.
Hi Ben! Both the Legend 2 and the Heritage 2 use the G3 disposable filter bags. These are available from your local distributor or by calling 1-800-437-7170.
Well, i have sold the Legend " and G3 Kirbys, and the G3's dustbag is smaller, so in a Legend it will just hang in the fabric cord and maybe break it! Maybe it's even smaller in the later G series!
+TheKirbyCompany, we used to have a Kirby Ultimate Diamond Edition, which got lost in a foreclosure many years ago. It was purchased through in-home demonstration.
