Thing I love about Alan Reznicks films is that while watching them you can't help but be watching a short film.
I love that every time I watch an Alan Reznick film I'm always either sitting down or standing up or lying down.

Jokes aside.. this feels like its about being emotionally numb or unavailable and having friends or loved ones try to reach you.. parched for love in the desert and maybe protecting and caring for only his heart which is his car.. lets someone rent it but they cant get in.. maybe im reaching but the "im sorrys" at the end really got me..
His wife is in the house but still cant reach him or his car.. idk..
But who knows maybe it is just about renting a blue car lol
I would say that the lady in the hat represents some past abusive demons still haunting him. He has a photograph to remind himself he's "safe" but it doesn't work for long. So he's stuck out there.

It’s a mixture of funny, and subtly creepy that always gets me with Resnick’s work, like there’s something out of frame that’s creeping into our world, coming to kill us all, making everyone act just barely inhuman but right before we see it leak through, the video ends. The woman smashing the window is shot in just a way that it feels like she’s trying to warn us, trying to escape, and yet she never will. Doomed to be trapped in these 20 minutes forever. Or it’s just a video about a cool blue car. Either one could be true.

At the very end of the video when he keeps chanting “I’m sorry“ in the dark with the light flashing on his face and the creepy music comes on…. It felt just like the ending of “unedited footage of a bear“ which is my favorite adult swim infomercial of all time! IMO unedited footage of a bear is Alan Resnick‘s best work.
