Another important thing that people need to understand about Bengal and Bengali culture is that the temperament of masses is that of revolutionaries or rebels.
People here take a lot of pride on aggressive revolutionaries and thinkers like Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, Shri Aurobindo, Masterda Surya Sen, etc.
Which ever opposition party is able to create and ride this revolutionist wave against the incumbent political party ends up winning the elections.
The situation has to be like that of a rebellion against the government like Bengalis rebelled very aggressively against the British.
