"so, you know how brokenstar would go around killing kits just for funzies? what if it was the opposite?" ngl i thought we were about to get an au where twenty kittens followed around and bullied their leader, and i was absolutely ready for it
Which kit would YOU be? I'd be MossKit's ghost haunting BrokenStar just to watch him suffer! (And also, I'd be MossKit because MossKit is dead and I'm dead inside!)
Brokenstar being sympathetic towards the kits because he himself was an outcast is honestly kinda more realistic than a “Grrr im evil and olny want to do evil to yoy firstar!1!” first arc villian
I’m in love with that AU idea! It makes me wonder if Brokenstar’s trust remains as the kits grow older or if, when they become adults, are at risk of being killed/outcasted too? A possible plot idea to this would be: Brokenstar kidnaps Rusty and maybe even his sister, Princess. The two grow up together in Shadowclan. Then one day, when Rusty is an apprentice, Spottedleaf gets the fire prophecy. Realizing that it’s Rusty, Thunderclan tries to plan on how to get him in their clan. Until randomly, Rusty appears one day with his sister. The two are trying to escape back to their original homes. Rusty is offered a chance to train in Thunderclan, to see what being a real warrior is like, and to be able to take a stand against his false father. Rusty agrees in hopes that if he remains and draws Brokenstar’s attention, then his sister will be safe. The story then could mesh into everything with Tigerstar and the like, much like the original story. You’d just end up with more tension between Firepaw and the rest of the clans. Plus later on, Princess could still give Fireheart Cloudkit to raise. After seeing what a true warrior is like she wishes for Cloudkit to be able to follow in the same path Fireheart did.
Since Brightflower used to be black and white, and now she’s a golden tabby, I like to imagine her as a tortoiseshell cat. I also imagine Hal’s mom being a ginger tabby, which can help explain Scorchwind and Russetfur’s colorations
I'd LOVE to see a Broken dad AU! Or maybe it's a *broken* family? Eh? Eh? No? I'd just be curious what he'd see as wrong parenting. It'd be interesting to see him start out getting rid of genuinely bad parents, getting rid of abusive or neglectful parents including fathers that refuse to help raise their kits, but slowly it gets more nitpicky: letting the kits stay out in the snow just a little longer than recommended, not making them take naps even when it's clear there's no point to try to get a particular kit to nap, letting them get sick, *grooming them wrong*. Maybe even knowing he had sisters by blood could contribute to this brokendad AU, wanting to help raise kits not just to make up for his own bad upbringing but to make up for the fact his sisters couldn't be brought up with him since they died young. Boy oh boy what I'd give to see how betrayed he'd feel if he watched one of the kits he saved/"saved" become a bad parent themself.
The de-orangification of the warrior cats (except when they ARENT supposed to be orange) has me ROLLING! I hope you continue this series, it is truly fascinating.

I see people misunderstanding the term black tabby all the time so I'm just going to ramble: A black tabby IS a brown tabby. Brown with black stripes. They're genetically black because if you removed the gene for stripes they would be solid black. You don't ever get a black cat with black stripes, (which is what I think Warriors thinks it means), except very faintly on kittens sometimes, which then fades. A chocolate tabby is a brown cat with darker brown stripes. If you removed the gene for stripes you would get a solid brown cat. There's also cinnamon which is the same idea but another degree lighter.
This has always bugged me so much. Most people when they hear black tabby think of smokes, and not brown tabbies. That's kinda bothered me with the series because {if im remembering correctly} the chocolate and cinnamon genes are rarer than black, and likely wouldn't be the dominate gene in feral cat colonies. No hate to the person making the videos of course, it's just a small thing that bugs me
Soo for comparison that would mean a brown tabby like tigerstar and all the tiger clones are actually black cats, and a brown tabby like onestar is just a brown cat?
@@TheAshfurApologistI've never thought of Onestar as a chocolate tabby, so maybe! If you want me to explain some basic cat genetics for you I'd be happy to
@@ricegorm I just said onestar because he's mentioned as a brown tabby, but not dark brown, but maybe a better example would have been sweetbrair or birdflight, both cats deliberately referred to as light brown tabbies. Anywho, yeah if you want to share any information id be happy to hear.
@@TheAshfurApologist Alright. I was honestly just looking for an excuse to ramble about cat genetics, so thank you for allowing me lol. All cat colours and patterns originate form either black or red depending on eumelanin and pheomelanin respectively. Some mollies {females} will produce both, resulting in a tortoiseshell or calico. Those genes are effected by modifiers that effect how those colours look. When it comes to cats with eumelanin {black or brown cats} there's a few notable variations. Black {B} is the most common. You also have the genes for chocolate {b}, and cinnamon {bl} which are significantly less common. Another thing to note is that pheomelanin/red is a sexlinked gene. Specifically it's tied to the X chromosome. Because of this toms can only inherit red from their mothers while mollies can inherit from either parent. Toms with a tortie mother can be red or black, while mollies could be black, red, or tortie depending on the father. A black molly will only have black toms while the mollies can be black or tortie based on if the father is red or not. This is also the reason most toms are not torties unless they're a chimera {not a true tortie. It's just the result of embryos fusing during pregnancy} or if they have XXY chromosomes instead of the usual XY. Mollies can be torties due to their XX chromosomes. Tabby genes will give the black cats brown stripes, but won't effect the red cats. This is because all red cats appear like tabbies even if they're genetically solid. The dilution gene turns black cats gray, and red cats cream. This also means that torties and calicos get the same treatment. The red and black on them turns into cream and gray. If they have chocolate instead of black then they become lilac with cinnamon becoming fawn. There are a couple genes that are responcible for white as well. The white spotting gene accounts for how much white is on a cat. This gene is mostly separate from the others because it just acts like a coat of paint over the other markings. Some cats with white spotting may look like they're covered in white, but it's still essentially 1 large white spot. The dominant white gene makes a cat solid white. A large amount of cats with this gene have some level of hearing impairments. There are 3 levels of colourpointing seen in cats. These are all due to temperature dependent albinism genes that cause cooler parts of the body to develop darker pigment. The first is the familiar high-contrast "Siamese" pattern known as colourpoint. The second is the low-contrast Burmese colour restriction, often referred to as sepia pointing. Intermediate between these is the mink pattern caused when the Siamese and Burmese colour restriction genes interact. As these cats age they also tend to get darker in their colouration. If you want me to get into more complex genetics, or elaborate on any specific part mentioned here I'd be more than happy to! I had to condense some info and may not have gone far enough in depth with some topics. If I'm wrong about any of this then please correct me and tell me a reliable source that proves me wrong.

I honestly love these designs! And in case you're wondering, most male tortoiseshells are actually chimeras, much like how a brown and black cat would be a chimera. Research has showed that chimerism is a more common cause of male torties than the XXY abnormality.

I loved BrokenStar's character, but boy, wayy more could've been done with him. I like your AU far more than his cannon story. Like "Rawr, am bad, like killing for some undisclosed reason, gurrr >:3" And then they just die later down the line anyways lol.
I was wondering, would you be able to do bluestar’s family? I feel like that would be a very interesting family regarding all of them seem to be either silver/white/or blue
Just looking at them at a cursory glance… they would almost all keep a very similar design. Moonflower would become solid, and would have white on her since her mom would have WsWs. This goes for Goosefeather too. If you give Stormtail white you could get Snowfur as cannon as well. WsWs is 50-100% white spotting and would act similar to dominant white. But at the very least you could give her Wsw, which would add white to Snowfur. Mistystar and Stonefur would also stay the exact same, as Oakheart would be a solid gray tom or a broken tabby. Of course you could theoretically keep the brown coloration if you made one of the parents a silver instead of just pale gray…. either way, he would have to carry dilute meaning that no matter what, the kits (bar Mosskit) have to look identical to their canon design. Whitestorm is shockingly not possible since Thistleclaw would need to be a cream or a red, and neither parents have white spotting so Whitestorm would have under 50% white at most unless you changed some designs. So honestly the big changes in the Bluestar line itself are Whitestorm, Snowfur, and Mosskit.
if featherstorm had some low expression ginger tabby genetics scorchwind could work, but it was never mentioned so it won't happen oh jeez how convoluted these genetics would get if low expression genetics could be fudged in(not that it would save a number of canon designs)
i've always thought of Yellowfang as a light brown or goldenish cat, it makes me happy to see that is how she would've looked if the genetics were accurate
Ooo I like the sound of this 'Brokenfather AU' That would've been such a great way to go with it. They should make bad calls, should make poor decisions, because by seeing their mess ups we can then see their triumphs (or watch them fall further and further and wish to see them replaced). Overall I do wish we just had more leader turnover, the first arc was jam packed with rises and falls, but then PO3 and OOTS only Leopardstar was replaced and she did just by getting really old. I almost wish we had more of senile Leopardstar or if she had to be forced to step down rather than die. Also more female leaders in general, it really sucks that Leafstar is our current female leader. I know Tawnypelt never wanted leadership, but I so wish we'd seen her step up as leader instead of Tigerheartstar. I didn't read the novella that touched on WHY she opted out, (I honestly kinda fell off reading the current books after Tigerheart's shadow. Partially cause those first three books and Tigerheart's shadow was so great the last three of Vision of Shadows just fell off.)
also, i find it quite funny where brokenstar becomes an orange tabby like firestar, and yellowfang said before her death that she wished firestar was her son, lol
Always a treat to see one of these videos :]!! I'm glad you're back And that AU sounds really interesting. I quite like AUs that put a spin like this on villains so I'd definitely love to hear more❤️
This actually inspired me to use a simplified, definitely-not-accurate version of genetics to spice up my characters family trees. I mean it doesn't have to make complete sense, they're dragons. Magic or something. Really cool and interesting videos though, keep it up!
If the 3 were Squilf and Bramble's {with canon designs}, the only change would be that Jay would be ginger. Squilf and Bramble could possibly have a recessive solid gene, with Squilf possibly being solid and showing as tabby due to being ginger. They both could possibly also carry a dilution gene without showing it {Goldenflower was described as golden. I think golden in warriors just means dilute ginger but sounds pretty, so we'll say Bramble picked it up from her, and Squilf from Sand}. However due to the fact canon Squilf is just ginger and not tortie, Jay wouldn't be able to inherit the black/brown gene {or to dilute it into gray}. Holly could inherit the black gene from Bramble, and possibly a solid gene if they had a recessive of it. Lion would inherit Squif's ginger, and has the possibility to inherit a recessive dilution gene from both which could make him cream. He could also just be a really yellow ginger, which I have seen before. The only issue is Jay, who would have to be red or cream because of Squif. Even the Leaf and Crow pairing has issues, because then Lion would be gray, solid black, or black tabby. I'm not sure what designs were given for this series, so I'm unable to go off of them, but with canon designs it's sadly impossible no matter which sister birthed them. This was also with me disregarding a lot of the family tree, so the recessives are purely speculation on my part
well the drawings typically last an average of 20 mins per each, with the longer/bigger fams taking more time (30-40), and like five per video, that's only 100 minutes, so one a half hour drawing time, except my motivation to draw/color is sparse, so like, once every week i do a family if im lucky. then honestly the script/recording and editing is like. an hour or two to get down. it's really really easy, honestly. i dont put too much thought into this, its just something i find fun to do every so often, im not planning to make it like a career or big milestone. it just is, so videos come out whenever i feel like it, even if that's never. i still appreciate everyone's comments and support of it though
Question, on 4:21 you said something about the red gene being pass down by both parents but isn’t the red gene pass down from the mother. I thought I remember hearing that in one of the earlier episodes. Sorry if this question is inane. I could’ve just got confused.
No worries! Red gene is sex-linked, meaning it's on the X chromosome. Females have XX, males have XY. This makes it so that mothers can pass their red gene onto both male and female offspring, but males can only ever pass it onto their female offspring, as, if the offspring was male, the father would have given them their Y chromosome (which has no red gene), not their X. So it's both parents or only mother depending on the cat's gender :) Sons only get it from mothers, daughters can get it from mom and dad
You should do blue’star and oak’heart! I wonder what they’re kittens would look like moss kit I’m sure was blue’stars kit so why would she/he be white and grey? And what about stone fur? He is grey but blue star is sorta blueish and oak heart ehh brown so can you do it? Please!!!
You taught me about diluted tabbies and so many other cat/warrior cat stuff and i am so happy that you taught me that a long time ago but sadly *sigh* i dont read the books anymore i just read other things because i have gotten bored of warrior cats you also can try warrior cats ultimate edition (on roblox!)
Can I steal the AU idea as a possible sub-plot in my AU? I like the idea and it could possibly give a better idea for ShadowClan when it's the focus in the AU. Aside from Flintfang pretending to train Badgerfang. Maybe Brokenstar threatens to kill Flintfang because he thinks Flintfang failed in training Badgerfang? Especially with the fact that Badgerfang and Flintfang had what I perceive as a father/son relationship in cannon. So, maybe, with the fact Brokenstar wants kits to treat him like a father figure, he probably thinks that Flintfang stole the relationship he should of had with Badgerfang. Edit: Not with Rusty joining ShadowClan, as that would need major changes to the AU to work. Also I would credit you

Yay!Yellowfang’s name makes sense!🎉
Yellowfang’s whole family looks great.
They’re the new Firestars.
*screams* YPU LEFT ME ON A CLIFFHANGER
also, i find it quite funny where brokenstar becomes an orange tabby like firestar, and yellowfang said before her death that she wished firestar was her son, lol
Can u make a part 6 about Mosskits family tree? She's my absolute favorite kit
Always a treat to see one of these videos :]!! I'm glad you're back
And that AU sounds really interesting.
Give us the broken father au please!
Yessss
Also designs are WAY better then those in cannon
I knew Yellowfang was yellow!!
I adore the AUs you come up with when drawing these.
It would be cool if you did a geneticly accurate 'if the three were birthed by squirrel and bramble'
@@ricegorm if you’re using canon designs bramblesquirrel Holly would need to be a tortoiseshell I think
@@lindseylindsey9200 yeah you're right. It thought about that after I left the comment but couldn't find it to edit it lol
:D it’s ok for not uploading for 3 months :)
MAKE THE NEXT ONE PLZ stuff like this is why I have a genetics class
This is so epic I just can't wait for ep 6
Don't worry about it. I forgot about this until just like yesterday, so ur right on track with my mentality
6:58 a killer who hates adults but loves kids hmm sounds like Freddy fazbear
i am so excited for the next one of these because i love this series
Excited to watch the video! How much time do these videos usually take?
well the drawings typically last an average of 20 mins per each, with the longer/bigger fams taking more time (30-40), and like five per video, that's only 100 minutes, so one a half hour drawing time, except my motivation to draw/color is sparse, so like, once every week i do a family if im lucky. then honestly the script/recording and editing is like. an hour or two to get down. it's really really easy, honestly. i dont put too much thought into this, its just something i find fun to do every so often, im not planning to make it like a career or big milestone. it just is, so videos come out whenever i feel like it, even if that's never. i still appreciate everyone's comments and support of it though
Ahh ok that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation, appreciate it.
Such a cool AU idea!
At the end you should put all the Small parts together in one giant tree.
Oh, wow, yellow fang is now golden…
WE. NEED. MORE. OF. THESEEEEE
Thank you this was wonderful and the au was interesting so happy I saw this earlier for once
This video is so amazing I love all the effort you put in every time
"will i apologize? No."
*Destruction 100*
The broken father au should become an animation
Intro was SPECTACULAR
If yellowfangs family came to a family meeting, then the meeting would be so big that cats would think that's a clan
Yes! Yellowfang!
Looking forward to Bluestar whenever that happens.
Silverflame's new design reminds me of the theoretical tan colors for cats (like with black and tan dogs). If only they existed.
*Yus I’ve been waiting for another one of these for ages (3 months) 😃👏)
You should do blue’star and oak’heart! I wonder what they’re kittens would look like moss kit I’m sure was blue’stars kit so why would she/he be white and grey? And what about stone fur? He is grey but blue star is sorta blueish and oak heart ehh brown so can you do it? Please!!!
Hopekit and Wishkit look so pretty here! I'm very sad that they died
At least now yellow fangs more yellow...?
I love how it starts out black and brown and ends in ginger or mixed coat color cats(that are still ginger).
Maybe you can do Maple’Shade Apple’Dusk and Reed’Shines Family’s or should I say Crooked’Stars family
Yay new vid :D
Woah this is so cool. I loved your last episode’s! Cool vid, could you do Bluestar next?
May I say how much I love your art style?
Thanks!
Yellowfang's my fave arc one character!
You should do bluestar or crooked star’s family tree!
Parent killer Brokenstar AU!! Broken-Dad AU?
In the Norwegian books Yellowfang is actually called Flatface, fits better.
Could you do a genetics video please? I know a bit, but I want to make my OC’s genetically accurate.
Interesting
Im not really into genectically accurate stuff but i love making hopekit and wishkit torties
You taught me about diluted tabbies and so many other cat/warrior cat stuff and i am so happy that you taught me that a long time ago but sadly *sigh* i dont read the books anymore i just read other things because i have gotten bored of warrior cats
you also can try warrior cats ultimate edition (on roblox!)
I need Sparkpelt and Larksong's family next, I have to see what they look like.
Omg yellowfang and her kits are so pretty genetically accurate
i love these videos and id love to see a map of that brokenstar au!! i hope youll do oakhearts or ivypools family lines eventually!
Am I the only one who always had the headcanon that Silverflames is an abyssian cat?
I kinda wanna make an animation for that Au lolll
WAIT IF CLAWFACE WAS KILLED BY BROKENSTAR WOULDNT SPOTTEDLEAF HAVE LIVED LONGER?
*(insert realization gasp and hope)*
Please do more of this i miss it 😔
Do the ash fur and fern cloud family tree next please
I’m wheezing at the idea of pale ginger Yellowfang
Also I would credit you
With credit sure!!
Pweeseee we need moreeeeeeeee
Are you going to be continuing this series? I really enjoy it! But its okay if not ^^
perhaps someday in the distant future! i liked it too i just lack motivation lol
@@LollingCatto ah fair enough! Ive been having troubles with my motivation too lately, hope it gets better though!
Russet fur looks better as a torteshell not gonna lie.
Edit (a few seconds later): sorry if I spelled the torteshell wrong (I probably did) *pain*
Haha it's spelled tortoiseshell! I misspelt that word wrong all the time when I was younger
Are...are you ever gonna continue this?
