In addition to being a world class song writer Lizzy’s musical sensibilities are at the highest level humanly possible. This is evident in what she chooses to cover and the way she provides so much musical sophistication to her arrangements. Then when you add her incredibly dynamic and textured vocals you wind up with a quality cover that’s only attainable by a select few human beings.
It’s cool when music makes you close your eyes, furrow your brow, and slow down your breathing. I love all the subtle surprises in her vocals, gives you chills. Great music.
never heard this artist before. and from the get-go, the unique choices made here work. dig the use of the low guitar strings as well as the nail strum versus a true fingerpick--all equating to that deeper, earthier sound. her voice is unassuming & pretty--it fits thematically with the song's approach while leaving me betting she has a much broader range that she's keeping in check here. to those who know the official video well, when thom yorke goes underwater in the headfishtank thing ("this is my final fit / my final bellyache with no" ...)--a gorgeous, subtle, underused piano accompaniment comes in. Sidebar, the "my final bellyache with" line is one of the most biutiful harmonies btwn thom yorke and ed o'brien maybe ever. in the above version it sounds like the artist is harmonizing with herself but how can i be sure. the bridge fits the interpretation well. almost sounds like something from andy yorke's (thom's brother unbelievable truth outfit) here in this earned solid understated folky moment. the end is without any big crescendo/decrescendo in vocal, harmonic, or instrumental swagger beyond leaning on some tight ass production moves and some subtle but noted keyboard swank. it's a phenomenal cover all in all. thank you if you read this far. one of my favorite songs of all time done justice. loved the listen. keep up the good work. bravo kudos, lizzy mcalpine!
@Lizzy McAlpine Lives well deserved, your my favorite channel, lizzy is my favorite artist and so you putting allll of her stuff in one place is amazing.
A heart that's full up like a landfill A job that slowly kills you Bruises that won't heal You look so tired, unhappy Bring down the government They don't, they don't speak for us I'll take a quiet life A handshake of carbon monoxide And no alarms and no surprises No alarms and no surprises No alarms and no surprises Silent, silent This is my final fit My final bellyache With no alarms and no surprises No alarms and no surprises No alarms and no surprises, please Such a pretty house And such a pretty garden No alarms and no surprises (get me out of here) No alarms and no surprises (get me out of here) No alarms and no surprises, please (get me out of here)
I admit, I was prepared to be critical. 30 seconds in I was sold. Bravo. And, this, from a fan of not just the original but also some fine covers by the likes of Regina Spektor and Marissa Nadler.
Do you get deja vu? 🙃 #iykyk (and to clarify, I know this is a Radiohead song that came out long before another song that accuses an ex of being unoriginal)

WHY ISN'T THIS ON SPOTIFY!?
Just discovered myself: it's an Amazon Original song, so it won't be streamed on other platforms. Just like Spotify has Spotify Sessions...

Couldn't agree more, she has a level of talent very few get the gift of having and even fewer actually use.
You could’ve just said you think she’s good

p.s. hope Radiohead doesn’t mind how much better this version is

Wasn’t expecting that. What a beautiful reinterpretation. Something special going on in her head/heart.
Her voice and artistry is hauntingly beautiful. It’s like listening to everything warm and beautiful you’ve ever felt. It’s pure magic. I love Lizzy.
Her voice is just easy on the ear, soulful harmonizing.

WoW… Best cover I’ve ever heard…. Thank you!
Lizzy at her best musical intuition. Marvelous and lovely sound.
Lizzy at her best, wow what a dreamy sound.
Chills and tears, this cover by Lizzy is almost too beautiful to endure.
I quite love how she's anticipating the beat a fair bit with the word 'No' in the refrain. The harmonies are tasty later too.
Lizzy’s sound is crazy! Confirmed again with this one… thanks for sharing 🌻
Absolutely amazing.
I think I've reached the pinnacle of youtube discoveries

It was a serious crime that she wasn't even nominated for a Grammy last year.
Wow, very impressive. Look forward to what you release in the future.
She's already got two albums of original music out! She's incredible. You should check them out - especially the songs Apple Pie and ceilings

Does anyone know how I could get a karaoke of this version?
Holy shit.

Can someone please tell me what key this is in?
Can anyone tell me the instrumentation used in this gorgeous cover?
I can hear two guitars maybe three, piano, drums and I think a ukelele it's used in some parts. Amazing rendition!
