Everyone that went to school and did geography learned about different parts of the world and the things each place is known for etc. And because someone of another culture or country sees the dancing and admires it doesn't mean that they are taking Tahiti as their own or claiming to be one. I’m from Maluku, Indonesia, this dance similar to Maluku and Papua islands. We have cakalele dance, tari obor, and tifa. And similar look dark skin and curly hair, similar look. Alifuru people, Melanesia.
I gotta say this is amazing! As someone who has studied my own cultural dancing, I'm fascinated. I've known of Polynesian style dancing for a while now but never seen it like this! I was in traditional dance like ballet and tap for 15 years. Basically born dancing lol. As an adult my interest has moved toward cultural dancing. I'm Irish and African mostly which has been fascinating as well.
