They carry it off so well. Hard for beautiful women to look fierce. AND dance. :)j to look intimidating yet not too much so that they give the audience members heart attacks. I'm guessing this is a "professional dance team" as this is a stage production not outside a hotel at a Luau. Something I wasn't aware of till recently. There IS a difference. Some one made an apt distinction...hotel Hula is like "Americanized Chinese food (unauthentic/watered down)".

@@no38537 Aloha! Are you one of the dancers? Or one of the instructors? With TH-cam people not familiar with hula can be educated. Exposed to varieties. From the amateur and maybe tourist versions of Tahitian Hula to the professional (like this group). Most foreigners don't know the difference between Hawaiian Hula and Tahitian Hula. For some odd reason tourists remember or have it in their minds that Tahitian Hula is what they see in Hawaii (which might sometimes happen) and when Polynesian Hula (Tahitian/Hawaiian) is portrayed in film. That there IS a difference. An obvious one being the speed of the hip swings....Tahitian being fast/slow and vigorous. Love to see a professional film production company record this show in the near future. Recording it in 4k HDR video with a Dolby Atmos sound track. Put of course on a 4k BluRay disc. Perhaps you could talk to Warner Brothers or Sony Pictures. A major company who will have the right people to do justice to this group...bringing Tahitian Hula to the world.
Excuse my lack of knowledge. Is this really supposed to be a warrior dance? Or is it a dance *about* a warrior princess? As opposed to being about war/ fighting?
As a Polynesian, I can tell you many dances are interpretative. The spear makes it a warrior dance. But as many Polynesian men will tell you, culturally the males are responsible for the cooking of meals, hunting, farming, gathering. The reason women don't do the cooking or food preparation? Swap the spear for a cooking spoon and you'll understand.
