BR, this interview made me feel so very nostalgic. Like you I used to watch 2 0' clock shows of old movies in my late twenties/early 30s especially K.Balachander's movies with a girl younger than me who had a similar taste. Back then I only liked serious movies. And, finally today I have subscribed to your blog, I never knew where to pose my questions for ask BR shows. Movies play a very big role in shaping young minds so I appreciate what both you and Chitra Lakshmanan do to make us watch good movies.

Those are old times! PS1, 2 - debatable, Ayutha Ezhuthu - not really (see Line of Descent movie), Dilse, Bombay (justifying Terrorism). Until Roja he was ok. I didn't like any of his films after that.
PS 1 &2 - Highly controversial - MR trying to undermine the religious angle (shaivism) of Cholas was unbearable to watch. Overall ok movies not bad (as it brought people to theaters and made them research history of cholas).
Brother watch kaatru veliyidai and OK Kanmani again. Both are love stories and almost similar that both movie hero heroine wanted to pursue their own career. Major difference is the character of both leads in 2 movies. You can see 100 percent difference in between those movies now only because of the character arc of lead actors. Please watch again
