1:02:32 the last round you noted the offensive capability of charm in having opp draw. Here, with opp tapped out and two bow masters in field, that was game a turn earlier at no risk. (But the ruby art was too distracting 😂)
Hilariously, there was a point where if you just clicked on UB Frogtide on MTGGoldfish, you'd find lists that didn't run any basic swamps. Which became a real thing when someone at my locals suddenly shows up wanting to try out UB Murktide, and I side in all of my Harbinger of the Seas. All of their removal, Frogs and Bowmasters suddenly didn't exist
I’ve always enjoyed your content! You are one of my favorite players. Happy to see you playing modern again, and to be playing the a similar list as I am rock on dude! The dream is alive
7:30 I said this on a previous video of yours where you were playing Spell Snare in another deck, but MAN do I love Spell Snare, it's gotta be one of my favorite cards of all time. I love that it just is the perfect answer to Frog now too.
At 8:06 you counted 9 damage but you have 10. Idk if I’d recommend it since you have to go all in, but it was there. Cast frog, discard counterspell, jump frog using all 3 instant/sorceries to grow murktide to 9/9 and bowmaster ping for lethal
I've always called it 'bouncing' when neither attacker or blocker will die in combat, and you just had to go and say they 'touch tips' and now it's ruined forever, thanks
In Round 2 game 2 OP could not put yawg on top if he wants to Plus on grist. We would have milled him. He kinda messed that up, but I dont think it mattered.
20:05 I think binning cling to dust here is just getting to the next card for free 😊 even drew a two drop for the punish! Awesome video, I didn't expect to enjoy modern but how can you not when brian is piloting a blue deck?
Your line in Game of saying "psychic frog jump, bowmasters" is a 4 mana play already, so you'd have 10 damage if you'd have discard the counterspell as well. Exile 3 insants and sorceries, ping with bowmasters (if that was the line you were going with, which it wasn't)
The perfect example of why I dislike UW control. An hour of them durdling around and trying to find a way to do something about it. EDIT: I meant UW, corrected the typo.
interesting line from your opponent r3g1 is they couldve overpaid for prismatic ending to dodge spell snare. that is certainly not free and maybe you might even be happy to take the spell snare out of the hand now in the hopes that a counterspell can resolve later and cleanup the bowmasters in a sweeper later
Picking a random deck in a format that you usually don't play and you instantly make trophy... This tells me two things: 1) you're indeed a great player (already knew that, but here's yet another confirmation) 2) the format is unhealthy.
Love your videos! Not trying to disrespect or anything but this video showed how strong this deck really is! A modern noob with pretty questionable sideboarding got 5-0! Congrats
There is Force of Will in Modern. It is Disrupting Shoal. Just think about the converted costs of what could remove your threats and you will see that the CMC constraint isn't one. For instance Match 1 Turn 2, a Fatal Push was played. Shoal pitch Preordain counters that. It's not hard and it's not an insane, mad scientist card. People just don't play it. That's different from it not being good.
Then against Aggro Game 1, you can hold up Spell Snare or Shoal. If the CMC1 threat is deemed to be dangerous, pitch the Snare. Otherwise, hard cast the Snare on their 2 drop.
@@XboxTheBeatboxerthe times it doesn't work make it feel much worse in a meaningful way. With force of will, any blue card counters just about any opponent's spell. Whereas even with the most accurately built blue count, you only get to counter a specific spell around 35% of the time for each unique blue card. With a full grip of cards, it'll feel alright most of the time, but if you're grinding resources against your opponent like control tends to, and playing two for one counter magic, it's a lot worse. Not to mention the wildly different curves of different decks. If you're built to counter any low to the ground frog deck, you're going to struggle against any big mana deck. The costs of deckbuilding aren't the problem. The costs of consistency are. It's not an insane, mad scientist card. It's just not good enough.
This is going to be controversial, but the only reason why Force of Will is actually good in Legacy is because there are must-counter threats on turns 1 and 2. If you play against a Legacy deck that doesn't have must-counter threats on turns 1 and 2, Force of Will often isn't even that good and frequently gets boarded out. Well, Modern has few to no must-counter threats on turns 1 and 2. Hence the need for a pitch-counter is much lower.
@lightworker2956 I disagree - being able to curve out and hold up countermagic on any turn is useful, even if it's not being used on turn 1 or 2. Curving surveil land into two drop, into three drop and force of will, into four drop is powerful in any format. Its why subtlety, force of negation, fury, grief, solitude, endurance have seen play in midrange decks through the years. Free spells are good. The reason force of will gets boarded out in legacy is because of the card disadvantage it gives you. If the opponent plays threat after threat every turn, they're going to beat your two for one countermagic if you only draw one card a turn.
I know you aren’t interested in Surgical, but they play… 3 threats? I mean I have also beaten Delver by using Surgical on their Volc. But, as a PT player, in this control mirror, it becomes more of a git probe where you get to manipulate the rest of the game. I know, it’s like a legacy player fetching at EOT like a noob, but this is my format. It’s best to catch the opponent off-guard with that card that negates 3 cards in their deck and gives up their hand. If you draw it late, who cares. If you get it early it can change the entire course of the game.
Small Nitpick, but there is no way 2x Bloodstained 3x Polluted 3x Scalding is correct. If need the Bloodstained to get the swamp, then 1x Bloodstained 4x Polluted 3x Scalding has to be better. If not then just 4x Polluted 4x Scalding makes much more sense
I already see an issue. Mismatched cards make me sad. Just get another older new version of Archmages Charm. People on the PT know if they want to tilt me to the point where I start complaining, play mismatched lands. I have called Judges on my opponent having ugly mismatched lands. (While it was funny, and the head judge was called over to make sure “everything was ok”, it was a quick laugh while in my head I was thinking that I wanted to take his deck and rip it to shreds)
I have a whole playlist of Pauper you can watch. If you're upset about the price of competitive decks, take that up with Wizards of the Coast. I'm just playing what I'm sent to play.

Good find! Should prob link to 1:02:21 to get the running bosh commentary on the art.
This even worked one turn earlier at 1:01:30. Opponent at 12, on board are 4, each draw deals 4 for a total of 12 damage.

I just made top 8 with a UB Frogtide at my local RCQ. Love to see the deck.
It's interesting how often players pay the minimum required mana for Prismatic Ending even after you show them Spell Snare.
I've always called it 'bouncing' when neither attacker or blocker will die in combat, and you just had to go and say they 'touch tips' and now it's ruined forever, thanks
never thought ragavan would be power crept out so soon
Six is a really cool sideboard for Eldrazi, especially with all the land hate in Modern for Tron, Amulet, etc.
I really like your cut and dry analysis
Oh the new hip deck is the viscera seer into cat combo. It’s like a faster Yawgmoth. Cheaper on the Chord and Viscera Seer filters the deck for you.
I really love this gameplay. Modern and you mesh well
Wow that frog in that final game 🐸 coast to coast
I like this kind of deck. Thanks for sharing.
Gone are the days of cryptic command 😢
15:25 Demonic Tutor is just Preordain that doesn’t pitch to Force of Will and requires a bad mana base
It even costs 2 mana. Blue always gets the better cards
🎶We all live in a Psychic Frog world (Psy-chic Frog)🎶
Okay guys , what deck can be called Frog Legs? Where are we going to get the Legs part ??
Lighting Greaves might be it though ….
Legolas Quick Reflexes to protect the frog?
I came in HOT wanting to see this Psychic Frog and HIGH TIDE mash up… I’m old…
Didn’t even take note it was modern till after the fact.

Agree -- I don't mind control decks per se, but I do dislike control decks that have approximately zero win conditions.
Match 2, are you against Heliod? Personally I would pay to see Melira, Kitchen Finks, viscera seer, and the draining cat for infinite damage + life.
Perfect timing, I just built this deck in paper!
Past in flames memorializing Cadia 😢
R5G2 was completely nuts. No way I thought opponent was winning after that keep.

Frog in all decks in every format. (It's like Oko, you just jammed it into every deck shell possible when it was legal)

Could you have archmage charm on opponent's turn in round 3 game 1 to draw the subtlety that you topped with preordain?
Opponent had Teferi, Time Raveler in play, otherwise yes
I still find it odd seeing a black deck without any hand disruption
I've seen successful builds of this that do run 4 Thoughtseize.
