I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed wacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.

Just what I needed to know on the o-rings and emulsion tube. Thanks for taking the time to make a video that will keep me from scratching a head that is gradually losing hair to begin with. Good job.
Great job explaining the emulsion tube procedure. Factual and straight to the point. Thank you for your professionalism.
donyboy: wow! you're really great at explaining things! This is top notch, five stars.
RondelayAOK thanks
Great video, as of 11-30-2021 it is really great. Got a prestine old tecumseh lawnmower, the oil was even clean ! Barn Find. The upper o ring was missing. I speculated that there was possibly a missing o ring as there was only black kibble left of it. Put in the two new o rings and a new nozzle since it was broke on the small end where the o ring was. Great video Donny it provided the confidence to reassemble it correctly. Your video is saving the day , many a years later. Thanks .
Thanks donboy, my snowblower wouldn't start and replacing the emulsion tube and the o-rings did the job ! Keep up the good work, your videos are the best online :)
thanks eric
Awesome videos. I've been watching them and have had success with a 10HP rebuild thanks to your advice.
Thanks dontboy 73 , your vidiossure helped me alot . today i put a new float bowl gasket and needle valve on my tecumseh 10 hp snowblower . it runs fine now after i fegured out it was sucking air .
thanks again

The crochet hook size is a Boye 2/2.25 mm that can be bought in many stores.
Very precise, straight to the point and great focus on getting your point across. Great video, very helpful. Keep up the good work.Thx. :)
thanks
Donny your emulsion tube advice was good.
The o rings were $4.12 for two high but the fix worked,Thanks,Evan
yea they're not cheap
Thanks Dony. I replaced the rubber rings on the emulsion tube on my weed whacker and it now idles like a dream. Before, it was a nightmare!!
Thanks Donyboy....just followed your Tecumseh 10ho fix along with a couple of other TH-cam HM100 Jet fixes and my generator is running like new ! My Emulsion tube was missing to O ring toward the center of the Carb.... my bowl bolt jet needed to be drilled a tiny tiny bit and the air mixture jet was sealed tight... just ran a very thin piece of wire thru it and reassembled.... I was going to just this 5000/6250 watt generator last week....but you guys save me a $500.00 dollar bill !
Great stuff !
you're welcome. make sure you are subscribed
Awesome video. Helped me to rebuild my carb. Keep it up!
what are the symptoms of a failing emulsion tube?
these vids are great!
Thank you so much , I really enjoy your videos .
Crochet hook is a 4/2.00 mm as can be seen stamped on the shaft. I have a smaller one that I filed back the forward side of the hook to make it a sharp hook. It is useful for removing broken keys in locks. It is marked 10. Some emulsion tubes I have seen are brass with 8 or more very tiny holes.
OK, I found a 100 count bag of Viton O-rings for under $10.00 shipped. So now I don't have to buy them two at a time and pay too much for them every time I work on a Tecumseh carb. Thanks donyboy73 for the heads up on the Viton.
Your videos have been a big help thank you, keep up the good work
thanks
donyboy. your the man.. your darn good at explaining.and showing. out of them all. none come close... all the best ..brother..merry xmas 2014..
thanks bro!
that's exactly what I've done, you'll save a vast amount of money
Thanks Dony. I didn't know Tecumseh had one. Kinda like the Honda 160cc.
Great video as always! This helped a lot!!
Excellent video donyboy
Good one Donny
Really? Well damn it. I'm glad I talked to you first. Guess I better order the right ones and not try to skimp. Thank you. You probably just saved me a lot of headache down the road.
opamma/echo makes a good small one, i have this one Electronic Specialties 328 - EZ Tach +PLUS
Good stuff, the emulsion tube is the last thing I check if all else checks out , I have had to throw out the carb on the permant fixed tubes. I am carefull on cleaning a carb with the plastic tube , some strong solvents just melt the tube and o-rings.
I love ur videos they help with everything I was wondering if u could do one on how to remove a trecumseh governor gear?
Grate video thank you just what i needed
Thanks! I found the one I need. The one I have is off white but the one I found is pink. They are EXACTLY the same but different colors. I think it was probably originally pink but age and being soaked in bad gas for so long must have changed its color. I think I found a 100 count bag of the O-rings for $4.00.
If I am closer to your home, I will bring my lawn mower to you for carburetor cleaning/repair.
great video
time to learn how to knit.
Nice video. I've learned a lot watching your videos. Question - I have a Toro mower with Tecumseh motor. It will not prime well at all. I have tried a number of things, including replacing the primer bulb. It still does not prime well. I have watched and I do not see gas coming up the emulsion tube when priming. I can usually get the mower to start after pressing the bulb 15 to 20 times. Once it fires, the engine runs great and very smooth. Is it possible the O-rings on the emulsion tube need to be replaced? Would this cause poor priming yet the engine runs beautifully? Thank you.
I removed the carb bowl retaining bolt and inside was a loose plastic item that looks like a retainer for the lower rubber ring on the emulsifier.can you tell me what it is and how to replace it. I did not remove the emulsifier but after seeing your video I'll have a go at it although the carb is fairly new. Thanks for your great videos.
all done the air setup, just need to make a video on it
they are slightly different size for the inner emulsion tubes that the rings used for screws
Just watched your video, great info. I know this is 6 years old, but, I've got one question. Can you replace a plastic Tecumseh carb with the metal bowl type?
nice work
thank you sir.
very good video
Hi,
Great video, as they all are. I am just getting into small engine repair, have taken training and setting up my shop. I want to pick up a tachometer for setting carburetors, etc. Which one would you recommend.
Thanks

donyboy73, do craftsman 21" snow thrower has a emulsion tube which is removable? Do you have a video to clean this carburetor? I noticed the 5/64 drill bit is not going thru the emulsion tube this might be much smaller and the brass wire is not going thru more than 1/8 of an inch. I would love to see a video on cleaning / rebuilding this carburetor.
great video as always....I have a brass tube,,,,can i remove it ?....does it have one or two orings?....My engine will not suck gas into the carb from the bowl....It will run if i put propane gas thru the carb,,,,thanks again...bob
Think its OK to use regular o ring from kit i have purchased from
Harbor freight? Or is there certain grove/shape in the oem part
also a ground down croshay hook works good too
Dony, I have the same carburetor, and the plastic fuel line fitting is cracked. When I ordered a new one I realized that it is pressed into the carb. Would you please make a video or explain how to remove and replace this fitting. Thanks for all your videos.
I just cracked mine thinking the seat was at that location. You happen to have part # for emulsion tube. I have a craftsman eager-1 mower with tecumseh carb. thanks.
What are the signs of replacing this part ? ( beside damage)TY Great vid
I have a good q and a question this week,How do you proberly abjust the old brass floats?
hi donny always love your vid e but i have a stupid question what will make you know if you need to replace your emulsion tube .....
Bonjour.Donyboy73 Excellent vidéo.I am a fan et depuis j'essaie de faire les réparations.Merci. Have Brigg syard machine 4.5 hp it work hard for me a bit more than a acre every week.Start and die,did not start again.Oil was really low change the oil change the parkplug(going to buy the gaptool) clean carburator.Start once and dark smoke came from the muffler do not want to start again .What will be my next step, change carburator.I thought for carburotor problem it start and die, start die....
What are the symptoms of a defective emulsion tube? Would it create a surging during idle? I've already checked the idle adjustment needle and passage. Thanks.
Hi, i have a tecumseh mower which is very hard to start even after warmed up. Only way it starts easy is if i give it a shot of gas in the carb. Primer bulb is cracked. Could this be the problem? The only other problem it has is that at the bottom of the emulsion tube it has a small ring made of plastic which has a chip on it. I'm not sure if this affects the nut seal or not as its not chipped all the way where the nut seats. The emulsion tube it uses is the brass kind.
what color is it? u have to use the model and serial of the engine
Don, After some effort I removed the emulsion tube & o rings. I need the same one like is in this video. Please tell me what part # that is. Thanks if you are able to respond.
Just thought I'd mention that the HMSK100 159295V model Tecumseh had a fixed emulsion tube, but I really could not tell until I had worked hard enough to remove it and found it was a brass item, force-fit into the body. Apparently, removal is not a good idea, but with all the advice about the plastic emulsion tube, I wonder how one should be able to tell beforehand, so as not to waste the time. Any suggestions?
The tang can be adjusted ( bent, is where the inlet needle is mounted ) to compensate... On these carbs, I just make sure the brass float has an even gap all around the top, between the float & carb body...The float will be level, in other words. Do not press down on the needle & seat to adjust the tang, bend it manuallywith a screwdriver.....
Thanks
Where can I buy a new emulsion tube aqnd O rings for my Techumseh carb
I tried MAP but no joy there.
Thanks,
lee
Merci, merci pour m'avoir répondue si vite.I never saw a diaphragm on my
carburator,my mower seen to be model 125 from the manuel part but i change
the gasket from the air filter(did need it) to carburator but still not
starting .I poke around a bit more a i saw that when i prime the bulb i can
not see gaz and i do not smell it.The number of the motor is a Britt model
12H802-0652-01.
Merci encore.

Would you please take the red primer out and explain how the check valve ball works in this tacumsia carb.and how.and where to find your.answers, thank you
Nice. How about a STUCK brass one on a Honda? I've showered mine with penetrating fluid, given it a sonic bath, put an Allen key in using the bend as a fulcrum on the 'food's of the throat. Nada. Now I'm thinking of trying to get the end of a guitar string to sit on top of the tube and yank down. Or put an 1/8" length of dowel above the main jet screw to force the tube up a tiny bit to break it free. ..But is there any room up there?
Any ideas most welcome guys!
What does the emulsifier tube do? Thanks for everything
I had a tecumseh lawnmower that had a carburetor damaged beyond repair and the day before we were going to take it to the dump I took the carb off and left the intake pipe on and put a small valve on the tank that dripped a small stream of gas in the intake. ran 8000 rpm instead of 6000 and I mowed the lawn one last time.
any plans to show some repairon a honda gx390?
I have a John Deer 826 that runs great but dies as soon as the snow starts blowing out of the chute. Is this a carburetor issue? What else should I be looking for?
Donyboy...what kind of problem would I be experenicing to want to replace this component ?
Thanks

Thanks for the great video Donny. I have a LV148EA / Spec. 334049C with a blue tube in carb. Found only messed up upper ring and found no lower ring, though tube has a place for one there also. Local parts guy could only tell me that some carbs. have only one ring. I think he may be misleading me. do some mower carbs only use 1 ring on tube?
i have never seen a tube with just one o-ring
I can see feel that the oring in the bottom of emulsion tube is soft and brittle, is this the cause of gas leaking to the oil when running? also if the primer line is disconnected can this cause air flow to push more gas to the oil tank when running?
Don, I believe my emulsion tube on my tecumseh carb is non removable type. How can I replace the o ring that is bad? I appreciate any tips.
do you have a complete gasket set for a Tecumseh h35 flathead engine???
oh la la ! j'ai payé 65.00 pour ma tondeuse i think i will be looking for a other second hand one and keep watching your video
Regards.
Jocelyne
i have a tecumseh carb with the pink emulsion tube i pulled the carb to clean it and only one o ring was on there is there supposed to be 2? Also my float seems to be stuck up and not moving freely what is the problem there? Thanks donny
thanks for watching
Hi !! I have a question...I do not found it anywhere for now... Can I put this carburator oh a 50cc scooter like suzuki ad50 ? it is possible? I just buy one , but it did not work ...for now...any sugestion?
Ty
Question: Does every carburetor need a seat for the needle? Mine does not have one...I have a tecumseh E-35024c engine.
at 4:40 a little wipe of Vasoline might help with that?
does Super Jet Spray Gumcutter (or carburetor cleaner) ruin the plastic tube?
I have used the buna and they eventually swell up
Good job Don. My carb had the red one in it from your video. However I saw no o rings. Does it still need the needle seat that came in my kit? Tx. Abe
IT does need the O-rings and it's good to replace the needle valve seat if one came in your kit.
I think the o-rings tend to disintegrate. I was missing the bottom one aswell...i found black particles in the area around the tube when i removed it.
HELP ,,,I HAVE A TECUMSEH LAWN MOWER CARDERATER ,,I REPLACED THE PRIMER BULB & THE BOWL GASKET ,,, IT STILL WON'T WORK .. BOTH WERE INSTALLED RIGHT ? THANKS ED
The LEV 115 (5 HP string trimmer) carb is leaking out of the little tygon tube into the air cleaner and empties the tank if I don't tilt it back/remove it. It started and did not start on fire but ran jerky and when I tilt the string trimmer back it runs OK but then keeps sucking all the gas in there and chokes it down with too much gas. I just got it out and will look again. I'll clean that bowl, and check the lines and clean it all a little, and check a few things but I am moving and not going to put too much time in there but would like to use or sell it working. I found the companies trouble shoot guide and will follow that. Any other ideas? I'll try to check back here and refresh some time.... BTW Thanks and very nice smooth presentation!
Update re: the 5 HP, Tecumseh LEV 115, 350162E, YARDMAN by MTD ....I got the float cover off and guess what............Someone used the can for oil/gas mix and a lot of vanish in there and the float could not have been working right. In fact is all full of gunk too so, If I can get by in cleaning the whole thing I can get by cheap if I am careful and use nail polish on screw threads etc. And clean that EMULS tube, on and on and on. I made a folder on the desktop for the unit, manuals, and all the notes and links for the trouble shooting I have done/written and stuff I found out for reference here and by others. I would take pictures too if I need to back out of all this stuff but, the carb looks simple enough. This engine was built (SR# 0073v) 73rd day of 2000 and a vertical engine per the manuals. I got it at Wally World as YARDMAN by MTD. The manuals I found say to get a new carburetor and first Google search said about $25.00 and cheap enough but I doubt if they are factory specs enough so I will price out one from the Company and the web .... OK! Hope this helps anyone else as I have a lot of leg work in here already and most of these engines and carbs seems to be issues out there and the unit only has a few sessions on it.
Den Boe Update. DId a price check at Parts Tree and it was $85.00 and too much for me right now so I will clean it all the best I can and keep looking around.
I just took a Tecumseh carb apart that has been sitting to long and has caramelized gas in it. The tip of the emulsion tube broke off and the O-rings are crapped out. How do I know I'm getting the right emulsion tube? Is there a model number somewhere on the carb?
My Tecumseh emulsion tube appears to be metal from about a '93 3.5hp Craftsman mower. Should it not be taken out? Thanks in advance.
Hi, I have cleaned every jet hole from your videos and found some partially clogged. It still will not run unless on partial choke. Can the emulsion tube being clogged cause my problem. I have a fixed jet. The emulsion tube appears to be plastic. Again this is a 5hp craftsman tecumseh snowblower. Question. Do you think I can get away with covering top of emulsion tube and spraying carb cleaner from below forcing it into those jets?? If this is not the answer is there anything else you can think of I should be doing? Thank you so much in advance. Brian.
try what i do in this video th-cam.com/video/9peW43lG1lw/w-d-xo.html
what brand of oil do u recommend
I have a 11.5 Tecumseh Engine from my snowblower with the non adjustable carb. Do you know if the adjustable carb version will fit on it? If so would you happen to have the part# Thanks!
Justin Bizub p
what does emulsion tube do anyway ? nice video.
+Bert Cochran Mixes air into the fuel.
castrol, any well know name brand
can u run water in the tube to make sure that there are no cracks???
Tried to remove red emulsion tube from lawn mower carb. Was hard to push down with screwdriver and top part bent. Tried to pull out with pick and bottom part is now destroyed. It is REALLY stuck! What can I do? Are there some that are not designed to come out and not serviceable? How can you tell which aren't?
Can you replace the yellow one with the red one. I took a red one from a trashed mower and used it to replace the yellow one. Would that prevent my mower from starting? I removed it (the red one) from a 6.5hp tecumseh carburetor. And put it in my 4.5hp tecumseh carburetor.
it should work but there could be issues
What is the purpose of the small hole in the side of the tube? Thanks.
i see you mentioned on your notes to replce it if it hard to start on runing problems , but what is the function of this part on the carb?
the fuels works its way to the engine through it, if the tube or O-rings are damaged it can cause a problem
donyboy73 thanks!
I have a tecumseh carburetor that won't prime. I've tried replacing the primer bulb and I replaced the o rings in this video, as well as a thorough inspection of the emulsion tube. Any idea what is the problem?
Hope you fixed the problem. I'm no mechanic but have worked on tons of engines and fumble through the fix. My guess is reversed fuel lines or broken/cracked fuel line.
ok thanks
Hi Dony, I have a hsk70 130273u the number stamped on the carb is 5063l8k. I’m having trouble finding an emulsion tube for it. Mine looks close to the one in the video. Any help you can give locating one would be great
do you have a part number?
@@donyboy73 no thats all I have.it’s that whitish colour like the one in the video
i have re built the tecumseh carb,,,including primer bulb. im not getting any suction when pushing primer, Is it possible that my emulsion tube or washers on it is the reason im not getting gas to the engine ? thanks
what if i removed a non removable one can it be replaced i canot find the part anywhere its for a series 6 tecumseh 2stroke carb
would oiling the o-rings help to reinstall the emulsion tube instead of doing this dry? Art
+Art Bender yes
