I've never played a Roll and write game. I need a few portable games to bring with me when I visit a friend for a few days later this summer, this one might be a good fit.
you don't play the same in solo and multiplayer. if you're doing 2 solo player games and then comparing your points at the end, you would have one person roll, then the other person roll for there own city. in nmultiplayer, there is only one die roll, and everyone has to build that building. (unless you pass or end participation.)

we liked it as well, but it's short. too short. and planning is much more limited than when you know which cards still have to come out
