Thanks for video! Your detail is great. Calling out the different valve numbers kept me from buying the incorrect one. Your daughter did an awesome job!
So that plastic part at like 40 seconds does not just twist out for me. I stripped it because it's stuck in there. Does anyone know what that part is called because mine is getting cut out apparently and ill need to order another one. Have I meantion I won't be using moen ever again?
@@travismdc do you know the name of the white plastic part at 40 seconds? Mine stripped even though I bought the moen wrench. They expect nylon to hold up after ten years apparently. Im going to have to cut mine out as I've tried brut force and it's just stuck solid. If you could tell me the name of that part I'd be so grateful. Your video is all I have to go by because moen doesn't even have a video on this cartridge. Probably going delta next time lol
Mr. Travis, What a smart girl! I have a moen bath tub that i haven't used for years because of the faucets. Moen has sent all the replacing parts. Unfortunately, it's still not working after many attempts. When i saw the vidéo, i thought a plomber could help, but trying today without success. The plombier couldn't remove the inside part.
Hello, Can you please post the link or name for the cartridge puller you used? As I cannot find out for such faucets. Will really appreciate it and great video.
she beat me. My faucet still drips. something has to be lined up when you put the cartridge in. maybe my cartridge retainer is not tight enough. Do not have the pipe tool.
@@diyjohn9584 Yep, you can get it from Lowes or Home Depot. You can also just put the screw back in the cartridge and pull up with some pliers. This is what I did for mine as it wasn't too deep.
This is the tool - www.homedepot.com/p/DANCO-Cartridge-Puller-for-MOEN-86712/100560034. Leave the nut on to use with the shower, or take the nut off when using on the tub.
Great video, currently helping my father in-law and we can't find the tool you have to remove the cartridge. Do you have the part number or name/ location you found it? Thanks in advance! Great job on teaching her as well as all the gang here!
Hi!!! Awesome video guys I have Moen bath tub faucet same on your video but I do not know what the model # of Moen bath tub faucet? if you have it please give the model # of it for me . My the cold water has clicking ,I looking for this cartridge but I did not see the model # of cartridge ? 1248 B or 1248 ? and where you buy Them ? how about the cartridge model # 6S-71H/C wil work for this bath tub faucet ? Please help me give the model # of Moen bath tub faucet and the model # of cartridge ASAP Thanks for your help
You need to get the high flow cartridge, the regular one will still leak. Moen warranties everything, so if you go to Home Depot or something like that, just tell them you don't know what cartridge it is, they gave me one of each.
What to do if your retainer nut is stripped and can’t get it out? Anyone has answers?
The best tutorial ever, 👏 congrats
Thanks. I just replaced the cartridge in one of my tub faucets and this helped. Thumbs up.
Isn't the cartridge keyed?
I replaced same moen cartridge cause it was leaking out of the valve now its leaking into the tub 😵
This is the best video on the cartridge replacement. Thank you for sharing.
Wow thank dad she made it easy where can you get the cartridge puller from?
Did you have to shut the water off outside first?

Great job, Lizzy!!! Kudos dad for taking the time to teach your daughter and all of us!!!
Well...if I was 12 years old...I'm sure I could do it...but...I'm 58 and the faucet and handles are 23 years old....going to get the sledge!

I have used a screw and some pliers to get a really good hold on it and pulled them out in the past. Maybe that would work?
Her perseverance is commendable. She’s cute as she can be. She’ll be a self sufficient lady one day.
Should've let her turn the fucet on when completed. It's such an amazing feeling of seeing your work come to live. My .02

Great job! What advice to do have if the retainer nut is difficult to come out?
We originally had the wrong parts and had pulled this one apart earlier. Our retainer nut was tough too, I used a flat screw driver to loosen it.
What cartridge puller did you buy? I'm having trouble finding one with similar depth.
The generic one at Home Depot.
@@travismdc Looks like a regular cartridge puller, with the bottom huge nut removed. Is that correct?
