Care should be taken as some mushrooms are extremely poisonous. A much safer way is to buy cultivated mushrooms from your local market, but this can be very costly. There is a much easier and cheaper way. That’s to grow your own. Today I am going to show you how I am growing mushrooms on logs that will provide you with fresh mushrooms for up to 7 years. It's not many times i am surprized however watching this certainly would make anyone think but have you looked at the website called Gregs Mushroom Grower look for it on google
Can i use clay if i didnt have wax or somenthing other?
@@vasabi5135 no. The wax is used as a seal to prevent moisture escaping the log. Clay is porous and would absorb it.
I have spent months studying how to grow mushrooms then we discovered a fantastic resource at gregs mushroom grower (google it if you are interested)

I live in London but I am originally from Romania , we usually have an abundance of whild mushrooms in our forests and they are free to pick but here in London are very rare and usually very expensive so this is something to look forward to ,thank you for this video 🙏 and Happy New Year 🍾🎉
Yeah we ruined the soil in London decades ago, most green areas are public parks, tended regularly and the commons were cared for badly with cheap pestercides etc, the outskirts of London get better, Surrey isn't bad

Cheers for this, I have been researching "caterpillar mushroom cultivation" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Heenyan Mushroom Organifiction - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend got amazing results with it.
A friend of our family grows champions (Agaricus campestris) on his lawn in his garden. This type grows wild in nature on grassland, meadows, parks and is delicious.
How? He once found that mushroom, made 100% sure it is the eatable one. This is very important. There are toxic "family members" that look familiar. Then he "milled" the mushrooms hat/cap with some water in a kitchen blender. This fluid was spread on the lawn with a watering can. Waited. This mushroom "eats" grass cuts. In late summer and autumn It looks nice.
Food 4-3 on an unused peace of land.
With this simple method everybody easy can generate spores from most mushrooms.
Kitchen blender and cotton swab.

I didn't realize they had that much going for them. I guess I should look into growing some on the tree's that have to come down this winter. I'm always looking for good healthy food to grow in my little patch of Louisiana.

Just starting growing mushrooms in Ann Arbor MI USA. I was looking at growing on sawdust, wood chips..., but creating a log that lasts years seems way better than having to remake a 'fake log' for every several batches of mushrooms. thanks for sharing!

Pembrokeshire, judging by your accent you're not too far away which gives me confidence that everything will work in my garden. Never had better veg than this year despite the weather and i think a lot of that is down to you, never going to have potatoes in the ground, everyone was shocked when i showed them the potatoes i had out of one container! Hey welcome to the channel. They are fantastic but it takes a year or so before you see any crop from them, but when they do you will have a supply for around 7 years. How many do you intend on making?
@@simplifygardening my property used to grow plenty two decades ago, would like 40 to 50 harvest if possible. Four acres of woodlands, one plus of gardens.

Nice video enjoyed this, mushrooms fascinate me, I’m over in Liverpool and have just started a turkey tail log which is about 6months old and doing very well, the lions mane I started is slower but showing signs of activity, this is just the start of my mushroom adventures I look forward to seeing your progress as it comes 👍

Just collecting a few logs and saw your vid. Today I'm off to finish the area prep behind a shed. Morning light but shady most of the day. Got some year old Shiitake and Oyster logs, and starting to attempt sawdust bags too. Definitely keen on the concept of using logs, as opposed to disposable plastics though.
