I watched this series as a kid on Spacetoon Channel in Arabic. I really miss it because it helped me grow up with better understanding of my native language (Arabic). History is lovely in spite of the real tragic events that affected our ancestors in centuries
This is how we should teach history. I mean i remember this anime when i was a child and still remember it and what happened , the battles ,who win who loose how people got killed, and many other things

He told us, however, that should we use references, such as Dynasty Warriors or Romance of the Three Kingdoms, that not all of its content should be trusted, such as the Nanman entries, as many of the officers are blatantly fake, including Meng Huo (who takes the place of the actual character, Youn Kai. Huo was Chinese, not Nanman. Tribesmen aren't Chinese to the said government, as they claimed sovereignty. Overall, he said it's ok, but be careful.

There was a poem called"The Seven Steps Verse", where Cao Pi, Cao Cao's heir, was afraid that his brother, Cao Zhi was trying to usurp the throne, he made the latter compose a poem on the spot. The poem was so emotional for the young emperor, that he lifted the punishment (execution), and just demoted him instead.

The rebellion was picked up mainly by the farming community because they were getting overly taxed and mistreated. There are few reasons they are vilified. The main reason being they were an army of thugs who raped and plundered towns, they had little organization, and for the most part did not have a plan or idea of what to do with power.
As for Slavery during this time, Slavery was mainly a punishment for crimes, they were not owned by people, it was a government thing to maintain the agriculture for large populations. As the government fed the people in ancient china. Rapist were castrated and sent to work farms. Others became eunics or servants to the females in the royal family. One of Emperor Gao's first acts was to manumit (set free) agricultural workers enslaved during the Warring States period
I was brought here because of Destiny of an Emperor from Nintendo Entertainment System. In Destiny of an Emperor- the first conflict you deal with is the Yellow Turban Rebellion which is where this show starts from.
A live version that I got off eBay. I think that is the original. It costs about $100 + tax, well worth it if you're a fan. there is also a version of RoTK that was made in 2010, that you can watch on TH-cam
You could maybe ask the group that subbed it for the subtitle files and then you can use them with your DVDs on the computer or burn ones with the good subtitles on them.

If Liu Bei officer goes to Wu or Wei, both have an opportunity to won world domination, at least according to the novel which the common reference for these epic.

Wei seems to have the best move set in 8 but not only that Wu had to become traitors and team up with Wei just to kill Guan you which was one of the biggest turning points in the war killing one of the greatest generals during that war.

Oh and FYI, his dumbass son sends his hardfought empire to shit. It easily gets taken over by Sima Zhao effortlessly. He (Liu Shan) even steps out of his castle with his hands tied behind him (or so some stories state). However, this disgusts Zhao, who believes that Shan is a filthy, dumbass lord who didn't wanna rule, and gave away a free kingdom.

Here is why and you might disagree. 1. When Guan Yu got killed by Wu via beheading, Liu Bei wanted a full scale attack to avenge his fallen brother and he didn't listen to Zhao Yun plead not to go. Wu was an insurmountable ally where Zhuge Liang risked his life to form one so they could defeat Wei together. Ok here is the part where it goes from bad to worst. Pretty much all of Liu Bei army got burn to death by the Wu strategist Lu Xun. Do you know the total amount that burned alive where Liu Bei was responsible for? Google it. The second part was using civilian as cover. You might think he was doing good but it was a cleaver ploy to gain support. Liu Bang did the same to his family by abandoning them so he could have time to save himself. The third was when Liu Bei threw his first son toward a tree just to win Zhao Yun over but in the end, it was that very son who did the right thing by surrendering to wei and that pretty much ended the never ending blood shed where ever Shu thought they could restore the once corrupted Han again by sucking up their own people resources and making them go starves...

Liu Shan did indeed avoid needless bloodshed, but on the other hand, he listened to a dumbass adviser, which breaks Shu's supplies and funds, along with Jiang Wei's incessant Northern Campaigns (FYI Sima Zhao knew that the Shu adviser was conspiring against Shu to aid Wei, but killed the pig on principle; he betrayed his kingdom and lord). Furthermore, Liu Shan was reportedly lazy and dim-witted, hence his kingdom's status (long gone now and broke as shit then. More destitute than France during the French Revolution)In fact, when he relinquished Shu, Zhao was repulsed at Shan for his weakness and lack of careness, but let him live his last days in Wei.
Just asking and I don't want no one getting mad with me. This is based off the book "romance of the three kingdoms" right? Hence the name of this anime. Is the anime ikki tousen based of the same book? Or is it just a fan service anime who just picked the name of a book to use as a back story?

And after some reading ull find cao cao to have high morals and loyalty to the han court he actually covered 2 thirds of china and didnt overthrow the emperor his son did after he died
thats funny actually, a lot of adaptations needed a "villain" and he best fit the bill. In all reality he had as many good intentions as Liu Bei, there was even a moment where his life was spared because it was believed that his followers would've revolted in Cao Cao's name.
pct87 Playing any dynasty warriors game Cao Cao is often depicted as stone cold, heartless, ect. It hardly seemed like he cared for anyone unless they were strong enough to do his bidding and his answer to their deaths were usually something alone the lines of "No matter" As I looked into the history of the three kingdoms more (Granted I haven't found much yet) That is really unfair to the guy... but you are right, every game needs a villain I guess.
that's because of his political shrewdness rather than his loyalty. CaoCao had an average morals. But the novel totally made him immoral. As a human age, he is less likely to be the front of things, rather he prefers to be in the back of things and be in control.
I'm impressed some of you guys get to know the real Cao Cao. I too was wrong about Cao Cao until I read about the man. If more people surrender to him instead of letting their pride clouded them, there would be a stronger China or maybe less killing since every warlord that surrenders get to keep their original post and treat really well. Other example was Guan Yu royal treatment.
Haven't read anything about the real Cao Cao or Dong Zhuo, at least, not how their real selves are recorded in history. Just wanted to put in my two cents of what I HAVE read. :PP

Just to share: The story in this particular episode is very different from the original Romance of the Three Kingdoms. They basically rewrote it.
That’s because this is based on the 三国志 version by eiji Yoshikawa, not on the Chinese one.
This is a cartoon made for children. The actual history is somewhat different.

Furthermore, Liu Shan was reportedly lazy and dim-witted, hence his kingdom's status (long gone now and broke as shit then. More destitute than France during the French Revolution)In fact, when he relinquished Shu, Zhao was repulsed at Shan for his weakness and lack of careness, but let him live his last days in Wei.

Just asking and I don't want no one getting mad with me. This is based off the book "romance of the three kingdoms" right? Hence the name of this anime. Is the anime ikki tousen based of the same book? Or is it just a fan service anime who just picked the name of a book to use as a back story?

Cao Cao was never evil he was just ambitious , he cared for his officers a lot
thats funny actually, a lot of adaptations needed a "villain" and he best fit the bill. In all reality he had as many good intentions as Liu Bei, there was even a moment where his life was spared because it was believed that his followers would've revolted in Cao Cao's name.
pct87 Playing any dynasty warriors game Cao Cao is often depicted as stone cold, heartless, ect. It hardly seemed like he cared for anyone unless they were strong enough to do his bidding and his answer to their deaths were usually something alone the lines of "No matter" As I looked into the history of the three kingdoms more (Granted I haven't found much yet) That is really unfair to the guy... but you are right, every game needs a villain I guess.
that's because of his political shrewdness rather than his loyalty. CaoCao had an average morals. But the novel totally made him immoral. As a human age, he is less likely to be the front of things, rather he prefers to be in the back of things and be in control.
I'm impressed some of you guys get to know the real Cao Cao. I too was wrong about Cao Cao until I read about the man.
If more people surrender to him instead of letting their pride clouded them, there would be a stronger China or maybe less killing since every warlord that surrenders get to keep their original post and treat really well.

Romance in this case points to the heroic medieval adventure rather than the love aspect.
