I bought these in 2019 - it’s 2021 and they survived NYC winters and the Pandemic. No Rust - no issues. I use a carabiner so my Jeep keys don’t stay with my work/house keys when I don’t need it. So I attached the keys for this to my Jeep Gas Can Fob. Any JL/JT owner knows that it is not a small Fob, but it makes recognizable noise so I know when it’s the Jeep keys vs my other key organizer. 5/5 Would buy again..

I don't like carrying extra keys so I went with the Bolt JL hood lock. Works great.

I don't know why my original post got deleted but I'll narrow it without giving out the name of the brand of this item? But anyway, you can basically buy this item on Amazon for $80. I feel this channel is flagging comments made about where you can get these items for cheaper!? Bummer because I used to like this channel.

The fact that the hood and the gas cap do not lock on new Wranglers is a flaw. These things aren't cheap. Most Wrangler owners opt for the hardtop for security reasons. We don't want people stealing our stuff, so why does Jeep think we'd be okay with our gas getting siphoned and our engines being tampered with.

That thing would be a pain with the Rubicon fenders. Having to lift up from the bottom to unlatch it. Is there even enough room to install this on a Rubicon?
Plus what about snow and ice build up? you'll have to chip and clean the ice out to open it.
There aren't even any grips to help pull the latch up.

Damn , you have a point. I just went for the rugged ridge. Ain’t no one stealing any items from a v6 anyway

IMO, on these newer more expensive Jeeps, hood security and gas cap security should be standard. This is common-sense stuff. These should not be mods.
I have a 2022 Jeep Wrangler High-Tide and I ordered and installed a fuel cap cover. Now, I am looking at a solution to secure my hood. This is a consideration, but extra keys. I am also considering the Bolt JL hood lock.
I would like to see Jeep add these as standard. However, thank you for the tutorial. 🙏

Since they aren't standard yet, that's why we're selling these options now! 😁 Thanks for watching! -Zach

So they make locks for a 2017 rubicon 4D?

I never understood why the jeep hood didn't lock.
I used to know a guy who specifically looked for jeeps to snag their batteries.

Between rust and how easily these are defeated, save your money. The lock is about a weak as they come. I'd use a Bolt hood lock but my trans cooler is in the way so I'm going to have to fab up something custom.

If you live in the rust belt, don't do it!
All it takes is 1 winter for the internals of that locking mechanism to be unfunctional...happened to my Rotopax lock mount, locking gas cap lid, locking Drake hood pins & Bestop Core Doors and all the above were from premium manufacturers unlike this...they don't even specify who the manufacturer for this thing is.

And now I'm beginning to see you can find and buy the products they sell somewhere else for cheaper! All this time I thought these products came from them but now I see they buy them for cheap and sell them for a higher price.

I tried all of this type of locks and they are garbage the leverage of latch easily breaks the lock! Plus extra key & price BOLT is the best way to go! Get JT if you want pay less & cut small hole in grill 🙂
