You can tell Wilko was a teacher because he provides better resources to his students than so many other "guitar tutors" on TH-cam, ie the diagrams. Thanks, Teach' :)
"And that's how it done" Ha, If only. It's like tapping your head and rubbing your belly at the same time, while spinning plates. He will be sorely missed, what a character.
Just love the way his eyes start to roll when he starts playing the whole riff - massive neurological connection going on here - only problem with this video is he doesn't show us how to move back and forth from the amp and when to swing the neck from one side to the next - oh well, waiting for the next Wilko lesson vid - genius!
I can remember trying to play the wilko way. I lasted about 1 song with cut up fingers and broken nails. At that pointI grabbed my plec!! Wilko a legendary master of the telecaster!
Love his style! He laughs off his music as “three chord rubbish...but MY three chord rubbish!” But his percussive rhythm/lead rock n roll takes some mastering to sound as good as that, even if it’s only the tried-and-tested three chord trick! 😂
Super group Dr Feelgood. never made international fame but they were our own and we are very proud of them. Wilko got his guitar playing idea from a genius Mick Green of Pirates fame. He could never replicate Mick but adapted Mick's style. Both of them serious very serious guitarists. RIP both of you thanks for your pleasure and enjoyment over your musical careers.
Saw wilko n DR Feelgood some 25 years in Melbourne and along with the Ramones prob best gig i ever saw. Felt sad when i saw em some years later (minus wilko) also in melb playing in small pub with a small crowd. But still love them all. Wilko is amazing guitarist and character. RIP Lee :(
@@guitarmuso1 Not "Greenie" as in Peter Green but the guitarist for Johnny Kid and the Pirates' Mick Green. Mick Green is also cited as an influence on Pete Townshend. I've only heard Peter Green refered to as Greenie, sorry for being a bit of a male "Karen".
Wilko - you are a guitar legend for all your songs, guitar riffs style, stage persona and dignity through your illness - so glad you're still with us !!!! You and Norman on bass - another master of his instrument - is an awesome combination of real players ! Thanks for all the these clips !!
Great that Wilkos still alive and kicking The ease with which he plays this and his matter of fact instruction makes you think you only have to pick up a guitar and hammer away thats when you realise the ability of this guy and the skill a year of practise hasnt even brought me close to this genius
🎸Beautiful man. Much missed, hope all his family appreciate how much we loved Wilko, his style, panache, and musical wonderfulness. Rock on, Wilko fans, respect. x 🎸
Wilko is the man! I took my Telecaster to the Oysterfleet last year and he signed it for me. Hes a smashing bloke, seen him play 3 times now and am seeing him again on the 30th of this month...cant wait!!
Amazing unique style, hard and ringing tone, first time i saw him i thought he must have a spare pair of hands somewhere because he's beating the hell out of this pair!
This guy is a one off. Great guitarist & showman. Makes it look easy and it's not! Sad to hear the bad news, Hang on in there son. Thank's so much for all the great music.
Was at the Glasgow gig on Saturday. What an incredible guy. Going through what he's going through, and putting on what is one of, if not the greatest gig I've been to.
That major chord shape I learnt from Australian guitarist Tommy Emmanuel back in my youth in the seventies...it's a heap easier than a standard bar chord.
I've met him and he's a total gent.A real man.I don't like to think of what he's got to face.By the way I find this very tricky to play,he sings at the same time?! How?
i love this guy and doctor feelgood they have been part of my life for a year now ,this lesson makes me laugh and want to keep trying heres a pichaw haha everytime i laugh
fond memories of magnificent gig on Hastings pier about 1976,support was Squeeze though didnt bother till last 2 songs, all the best to you Wilko and thanks for the memories you will live on in my guitar forever!
saw wilco in 1979 reading fest he was the best gig lost of love wilco old m8 take the best you can and remember we allways play She Does It Right From Dave sheffield BoardWalk
Great great teaching Wilko ! Always wanted to get the upportunity to play your tunes. And here You just show it that good ! .. I wish You all the best as long as possible ! .. And If You can endure it, in spite of yout illness, then it will be even greater for me/us to get.explanations, on how to play more off your music - With tablature / notes like the one you show here.. For example "All through the city"..."Sneaking suspicion"...Going back home"..and tunes like these.. Would be that great, if it could be possible ! But anyway.. I hope You are alive and as well as possible for as long as possible.. Best regards from a Danish fan for many years !
"That's how it's done" RIP, Wilko, what a legend.
RIP to one of the greatest guitarists of all time
Great guitarists and an absolute legend. RIP Wilko.
"And that's how it's done." Oh yeah, so bloody easy, not. 😄 Wilko is such a Legend.
You can tell Wilko was a teacher because he provides better resources to his students than so many other "guitar tutors" on TH-cam, ie the diagrams. Thanks, Teach' :)
Genius. Rest in peace Wilko. The reason my first proper guitar was a telecaster.
"And that's how it done"

Brilliant, he will be sorely missed by many.
R I P
How many years did I successlessly try to play that little tune like this ? 20 ? 30? Rest In Peace Grandmaster Johnson .
When he says, "Here's a picture" I was expecting a postcard of Canvey Island...
Made me laugh cheers
@@dandelion6514 Ha! You are very welcome, Dan! Glad it did!
Absolutely love this. Thank you Wilko - really feeling your passing 😔

Fantastic ❤ Wilko was a force of nature. Love him to bits.
What a genius. Thank you John. You gave a lot of joy.
I can remember trying to play the wilko way. I lasted about 1 song with cut up fingers and broken nails. At that pointI grabbed my plec!! Wilko a legendary master of the telecaster!
Gonna be sadly missed RIP Wilko

I love the bonus demonstration of the essential Wilko Head Movement.
as with all brilliant people he makes what he does seem like childs play and ow so simple .
I should have said, you have always Done it right. Mick Green would have been so proud if he was around today.
Legend. Love ya Wilko
first saw him playing that riff 45 years ago at the Lord Nelson in Holloway Road.. Still the Master!
We love Wilko. What a gentleman, what a player. Seen him play several times and life was better for it.
What a true legend.
Miss you Wilko❤
'and that's how it's done'... yeah if you're a genius like Wilco !
@knackeroo. It’s Wilko btw.
RIP Wilko Johnson. He did it right…….
Excellent !!!!!! A guitarist with his own style and sound, not a copy... Great !
it was copied actually on his own admission from greenie from johnny kid and the pirates

First saw them in '74 at the Greyhound pub in Croydon, still got that R & B magic.
@Paul R I used to spend quite a bit of time in Croydon up until the pandemic - where was The Greyhound pub please?

Even after all these years he still kicks ass and still has that manic look in his eyes
Man, this is easy to understand, but hard to play! RIP Wilco
"Stabby" describes it perfectly.
Best guitar lesson of all-time
He wipes the blood off the strings between songs.
That's the reason for the chosen colour of his scratchplate, or so he is supposed to have claimed! (color/pickguard)
Wilko is the man! I took my Telecaster to the Oysterfleet last year and he signed it for me. Hes a smashing bloke, seen him play 3 times now and am seeing him again on the 30th of this month...cant wait!!
'Here's a picture' (point) ... lol. Top nutter.
Genius. Yet Simple. Its the attitude thats hard to get right!
Aaah, fu¢₹!#n love Wilko. You can see him, he's getting the red mist as he starts playing, well into it, he's like, Whoah, Wilko.. rein it in..

Amazing unique style, hard and ringing tone, first time i saw him i thought he must have a spare pair of hands somewhere because he's beating the hell out of this pair!
