Please do more tutorials, really like the level you discussed this song at. You mentioned the 1,4,5 chords you mentioned 12 bar blues, you quickly explained the riff and strumming. It was not too basic and not too complex. I know shorts are really doing well on TH-cam, I think it could help you grow your channel. Catfish blues muddy waters style short or whatever 👍👍👍
dr feelgood was a great band. in the larte seventies we organized a concert at the Antwerp Universtity with Dr Feelgood. The rider specified only "enough beer". We piled beer crates from the bottom to the ceiling on every wall. They were happy. it is a shame they don't exist anymore. Roxette was my all time favorite. Many thx for this James.
Really fun watching somebody just 'getting' it. I think the people who obsess over 'thumb upstroke/nail downstroke blah blah' are missing the entire point of this stuff. Rock and roll. Ace.
I saw you performing the licks from The Cellmates, Rockabilly Feeling on a short video. I've been getting more into rockabilly lately and I think learning that particular song would really help. If you could do a lesson on that one, I'd much appreciate it
Nice to see a welsh guy doing guitar tutorials keep up the good work boyo. Helped me out a lot been looking for this for ages how to play like wilco jhonson deolch yn fawr!!
You are really fucking Welsh. And fair play to you, no insult meant there. Also great lesson, you really captured the spirit of the tune when you jammed it at the end. 10/10.
Picked up the guitar again during lockdown, good lesson, great channel James, amazed that a young bloke should know and obviously enjoy so much of this music!
I'm always dubious of blokes in their bedrooms doing guitar lessons. It's can be great or pants. There's no in between. This, I'm glad to say, is in the former category. It's spot on and you break down the technique really well too. Thank you!
@jamesoliverguitar Well, you could be. You're great. You broke the whole thing down and made it simple. I checked out a few of your (many) videos and I didn't realise how well versed you are in your field of music. Frankly, I was staggered at how many videos you actually had!
Just found your channel. Nice one mate-really appreciate the lesson. I wish there was more stuff like this on TH-cam. As much as I like Hendrix, Halen etc.. I feel that there’s too many lessons on all of the fancy stuff but not enough of the sort of lesson like this one. Players may think that it’s only 3 chords and easy to play-all I can say to that is, try playing it for the duration of the song WITHOUT any mistakes AND making it swing. Anyway Mr Oliver-well done.
It’s made in Cardiff by Dave dearnaley ....it has a planet tone broadcaster pickup in the bridge and a shed pickup in the neck ...my 63 in other videos is a white guard rosewood neck has the original pickups
@@jamesoliverguitar I need to check this Dave guy out then. What is the rest of your rig on this. I cannot get that twang on either of my US stds. Not that good anyway. Are you using a compressor on that. Love that sound of your '63 and this is similar so just wondering what the common bit of your rig is.
@@jamesoliverguitar Brilliant I'm just a valley or 2 or over mate. Ive been trying my best to master Wilkos technique, and I'm only starting to get to grips with Going Back Home. I meant to ask in the original post do you teach .... not have you had lessons
Great to see younger players digging Wilko. He was a one off, the alternate grips and stab chords is simple genius.
Simple but hard to master, Wilko has a very unique style and technique and you captured it perfectly. great Job.
Cheers!
Yes agree - the lick is simple on its own but trying to run it in with the G chords I find really difficult

Right that the chord fingering sorted out. Thanks James. Just need to perfect the strutting backwards and forwards with the jerky head movements now.
That’s lesson 2😂
It's better than alright, it's an excellent lesson. Youve really captured the spirit of Wilko's playing in a simple lesson.
Thank you Vic
