    Thank you so much! I very much appreciate this video. I was struggling to find an adapter that would work with my original Rode Wireless Go and thankfully you had one in this video as an example! I went ahead and ordered the Hollyland adapter. Prior to seeing this video, I was very close to going to the nearest Wal-Mart and purchasing the Apple (I despise Apple so this would've been my only Apple purchase ever lol) USB C to 3.5mm female adapter. What a terrible mistake that would've been. Once again, thank you so much for this video. So helpful 😃 I hope to eventually upgrade to the wireless DJI Bluetooth mic for an easier connection without adapters.

    Great video !! Upon coming across so many options here, I just figured the USB-C to USB-C charging cable that came with my DJI OSMO Action 3 works well with an AnkerWork M650 RX which also has a USB-C as well as a 3.5mm input. I haven't tested extensively the USB-C to USB-C connection between the camera and the RX in terms of voice recording quality but Do you think it has any disadvantages ?? I do not have the Go 2, but I'd be stumped if both streams were not saved. Split mode would be good if you wanted to have more control mixing during editing. Hope this helps!

    @01:28 you're using a USB-C OTG cable. Doesn't that cable include a DtoA converter? The OSMO takes a USB-C digital feed directly from your mic when you plug it in directly. Is the signal chain converting twice when you use the OTG cable? Mic outputs digital, cable converts it to analog, camera converts it back to digital to add to the video? Is there a regular USB-C Splitter that you could use in that case?

I have a mic on top of the camera cage and plug it into the camera and can also charge it at the same time. Minimal footprint minimal hassle. Thankyou so much for the video. I am trying to set up a motovlog rig and by far the biggest headache so far has been sound. The only thing I've gotten to work so far is the Ankr adapter with a smart Lav+ from Rode. But even tho the camera sees this TRRS set up it doesn't see it enough to allow for the actual settings for gain and wind noise to be displayed so I haven't actually used it in action. I also bout Saramonic TRS adapter Saramonic Lav omnidirectional TRS mic. The adapter says right on the packaging that its for DJI Osmo Action..but my Action 4 does not even see this set up. I guess when they say Osmo Action ..they literally mean the first gen camera only and not the whole action line? Anyway, I'm interested in the Ankr to Shure MVL lab set up and I have a question. Did that set up not only just see the mic but also allow for the gain setting and other features to be displayed under the external mic symbol?

      So I did get everything working. The lack of gain adjustment I was experiencing was my own unfamiliarity with the camera itself. The ANKR TRRS set up actually didn't work well for my particular needs unfortunately. No matter how low I set the gain after about 60mph it would still start cracking and popping. I tried a few other TRS combinations with varied success but what I ultimately settled on was Saramonic SR-C2003 TRS adapter + MOVO MC1 dual male audio cable + Cable Creation female to female coupler + JBL gaming headset mic I stole off a headset I no longer use. The runner up was the same Saramonic adapter + MOVO ACM400 omnidirectional gooseneck mic.

    My Røde Wireless Go II works perfect with the cable from BOYA BY-K2 (USB-C to USB-C also works, but then about 4s noise sound at the beginning of video, after that period all works very well. So for short recordings I use the BOYA BY-K2, then about 1s noise)

      Yes with the OTG cable, it can be charged at same time mic is being used with no degrading of audio quality. I do not recommend the TRRS OTG, but the USB-C OTG w/ Anker or Hollyland. Been performing very well for me. More vids to come soon, appreciate ya!

    Hi, anyone here who uses the "Hollyland Lark M1" microphone(s) with an Osmo Action 3 or 4? Which case can you recommend to mount the receiver on top and then connect it to the cam with e.g. the Hollyland USB-C to TRS cable?

    • @manicmods
      @manicmods  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have two options for mounting that type of microphone transceiver. One is with the SmallRig cage linked below. The other is putting a piece of velcro around either my tripod or battery stick. From there, I slide the clip of transceiver into the velcro band. Hope this helps; thanks for watching!

      Glad you got one working! I further researched my issue with the dukabel after video. That cable should have worked just like the Rode adapter, and left me wondering why. Apparently there are two TRRS standards, CTIA and OMTP, and I'm guessing that's what we were up against. Appreciate your comment 🙂

      Are you using a USB-C to TRRS adapter? A TRS adapter will look identical but not work. I'm not familiar with that mic, but looking at it the switch may change the plug configuration. I'm sure you tried, but worth switching as test. Also worth testing with other devices to ensure mic is good. Let us know how you make out and thanks for watching!

    Stereo or not? the usb-c/trs adapter (Boya or other) on the Action 4 if connect a stereo microphone?

    • @manicmods
      @manicmods  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Mark, thanks for watching! I have not been able to find a stereo solution, and all signs suggest Action 4 not compatible. Even with DJIs stereo DJI Mic 2, the product page suggests only iPhone and Android can leverage 2 channels. Hope this helps!

    • @markr041
      @markr041 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      😢@manicmods NO. You are incorrect. The Action 4 usb-c input will accommodate a stereo signal. I have used both usb-c stereo mics and the Boya adapter (trs) with a stereo mic. And, the DJI Mic2 is not a stereo mic, so that mic is irrelevant. I have uploaded a video on my TH-cam channel with stereo audio recorded from a usb-c mic.th-cam.com/video/ck30iyFfvsI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=FKD88U0-zodtUmDY
      Maybe you need to reshoot your video - first figure out what you are doing wrong, and then show what works. My video is a fact.

    • @manicmods
      @manicmods  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Appreciate the correction! I'll check out ur video and revisit this as there are a few more related inquiries. I omited stereo from video since I was unsuccessful. It's interesting that DJI confirms their Mic 2 is stereo for Android and iPhone but not over USB-C to Action cam. This only bolstered my prior stance. Link below, apologies for any confusion...

    • @markr041
      @markr041 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@manicmods One mic2 is mono. Period. You can use two mic 2's with a receiver to get stereo. Again, a mic2 is a mono mic.

      @@markr041 From the Mic2 page I linked: Stereo functionality is available for iPhone and most Android mobile phones.
      I'm not familiar with the Mic2, but have a hunch it could be using 2 of them for that promised functionality (limited to phones) I was only referencing product page. Like u said, one is certainly mono. Even if it were stereo the imaging would be poor. Good topic, TY!
