      A lot of people don't even consider things like this because they get swept up in the romantic nature of being engaged and living their fairy tale. The reality of the wedding isn't always apparent until just before. A prenup is only a red flag if someone refuses to sign it IMO. Some people are also the "weaker" or less assertive person in the relationship and it takes a lot of time and courage to confront their partner with something uncomfortable.

      I think they did a great job with this one, honestly. I think they started out with a fairly neutral character for the man. Yes, they escalated it, but I don’t think they started him off as a huge red flag from the get go. It might be interesting to see reactions if you swapped the roles but I doubt there would be as much interaction in that scenario.

    As romantic as getting married sounds, most marriages end in divorce and if you are not prepared to talk about a prenuptial agreement then you’re likely not ready to get married. Getting a prenuptial agreement saves you a lot of headache for what will more than likely end up being an issue down the road. Of all the weddings I’ve been to in the near 38 years I’ve been alive I can count four or five couples that are still together and even then they’re not from western cultures. I always offer men I get involved with a prenuptial agreement so that they know I am not after any of their assets.

    • @darleneholt2736
      @darleneholt2736 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If done properly yes, a prenuptial agreement is fair. This wasn't done properly. Even before he walked out. To be fair both sides need to have their input in its creation, that involves both parties being present for negotiations, and each with their own legal counsel. The bride to be in this senerio didn't even know the prenuptial existed till being told to sign it, so her input was clearly not considered. Then he was pushing to sign it to be notarized that same day, which means unless she is someone with a lawyer on retainer (very unlikely for most of the population) she won't have time for her own legal representative to look it over and make sure it's OK. Then, you have him trying to get her to sign, before she even had a chance to read it. If it's so fair for both, why push for a signature without then having read it? No one should sign anything they haven't read. This conversation should have happened in private at the beginning of the engagement, followed by negotiations in a legal setting with their prospective attorneys present to create the prenup together. Not, here's a fully written contract you need to sign, today right now, in a public diner, one week before the wedding, with zero discussion or even warning.

She had a ton of credit card debit when they started dating and some sob story to go with it. After marriage he helped pay it off. Then she started maxing out their credit cards again and said she wanted a divorce. To keep things cheap and easy they split everything, including her debit. We later found out she did this to first husband as well.
    So end of the day a pre nup isn’t so bad. However I had a bad feeling about her before the wedding.
    When my husband and I got married I had a house with a lot of equity. I did have a talk with him about the house. After a few talks I felt he was genuine enough to let me have the equity in the house should we split. It’s been almost 11 years and we’re still happily married.

      My English ain't that good, but it's basically a prenuptial agreement. It's when the to-be married husband and wife agree on the terms and conditions of the marriage and what or how the wealth will be distributed in the case of a divorce. That way, for instance, if the husband is the rich person in this relationship, he won't have to lose half of his wealth or most of his wealth paying the wife in alimony or child support. Mind you alimony is part of the Shariah law, but in Europe they tend to misuse it to discourage marriage

      It's also funny you would talk about Sharia law when it's applied differently in numerous countries as well. In Saudi Arabia for instance, divorce right are unilateral for men without motivation, while women have to legally prove harm to break the contract and still risk losing their own assets (the dowry) if the harm wasn't "severe enough".

If there is however I am waiting for you to state the scripture that says that. Also please don't embarrass yourself by mentioning Saudi Arabia when talking about Islam. Please keep John 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 He is iconic, and his energy is so wonderful and gentle. Your comedian Kamal and blond lady just feel like you’re trying to pander to a younger crowd. Your show is legendary, have faith in your product and if John needs to step down, find someone like him, old and wise and fatherly.

    I get the value of prenups, but so many people simplify the situation and focus on scandalous goldiggers when those cases hardly come up at court. Lawmakers actually worry way more about the fact that so many spouses, mostly female, put in a lot of effort for their kids and sacrifice their careers for them, only to be left with nothing financially. And that isn't fair, because you need someone to manage to home so that provider can earn anything in the first place. You can't say: she chose to be a housewife. It is a job that should be valued, but isn't.
    I'm a lawyer and I witnessed many cases where the women had to "maintain" their abusive husbands because they were not earning much at all. But these abusive men didn't even do housework or help out with the kids! In that case, a prenup would have been very useful.
    There's a reason why the law works the way it does, though some sick people, both male and female, take advantage of it.

    They framed it in kind of a weird way with the guy being so pushy. In reality it's likely more a case of "Would you consider signing a prenup?" and the woman getting upset & emotionally "blackmailing" the guy to get rid of the prenup by saying stuff like "You don't believe in us" or "You expect our marriage to fail" which would have made for a far better WWYD but then again, since in today's climate "man bad, woman good" they'd never do this.

      If this was the lady who came from a wealthy family, and the man didn’t have wealth, but is financially stable, and she wanted him to sign a prenup a week before the wedding, would he sign or would he get mad her and think she’s not trustworthy of him

      @@The1baddman In this scenario most men would sign it, seems men take more pride on not relying on a woman's money, but usually the same can't be said the other way around, but makes sense since traditionally men are suppose to offer provision/protection and whatnot but were in different times, so I get it.

      In that case i think most people just dont like the idea that the marriage may not be permanent since thats what marriage is supposed too be...
