    I have a visceral negative reaction to gray flooring. I always have. I redid the floors in my house back in 2022 and even finding flooring that was not gray at that point was very difficult. Luckily, I found some. I know many people that put gray flooring in their house and every single one of them have told me that they hate it now. Nothing screams flipper house than seeing a house listing with gray floors.

    I redid my house a couple years ago and I did put in white kitchen cabinets with oil rubbed bronze hardware., Grayish countertops and white subway tile with light gray grout. I like it. People have commented that they like it also. Doesn’t matter, it’s my house :-) at first I thought I wanted a bright flashy tile, but I changed my mind and went with 3 x 12 sub tiles instead.

    I just did my new kitchen in off white with black hardware and black farmhouse sink and taps. I did quartz counter and backsplash and it looks fabulous. I can always change out the hardware and sink if I get tired of it. I live in the country and so it is perfect to me.

      I agree. Never did like it. It looks like fake barn wood, and who would put barn wood on a floor. Nah, it's just wrong.

    I agree about white kitchen cabinets. There are a lot of colors to put in there. I like unique spaces and a mix of textures and color combinations. Let the color wheel and the light be your friend

      I love color also. I’ve got nice bright bold colors throughout my house. But I do have white kitchen cabinets and white appliances. My house was built in 1900. A craftsman so the white cabinets go just fine in my house. I’ve got plenty of color elsewhere to make up for it.

    White quartz is out. It is not a warm color. It is blinding white. Warm stone patterns are in. The longer you live with your choices, the more likely they will return in a new way in the future. Unless you are selling, it doesn’t matter what’s in because it will be out very soon.

      White can be warm or cool. I was choosing a Benjamin Moore white for upper cabinets. That’s when I discovered the cool and warm whites to complicate things even further. You’re right. Everything that’s out eventually comes back in.

    Quartz can be a natural material or a man made material. We were able to combine both in our kitchen which made the large area of countertops affordable and the two materials complementing each other really brings the kitchen to life. It did take a lot of time and diligence to find the two materials that blended so beautifully together. Just another option to consider. HTH

    "Builder beige" is still the safest color for the walls of a house you are selling. Open shelves collect airborne grease and dust, so you'll have to wash anything that you want to use. I've seen black and white bathrooms, too, and they're boring. One or more black bathroom walls make it feel like a cave.

    Designers make their money pushing the next "trend" and anything you put in is already out of style according to them. Few people have the time or money to keep up with the latest trend, changing it out every couple years. Who has tens of thousands to do so?
    I just finished my kitchen by myself, doing all the work, and went with white cabinets & black hardware and a pale accent color on the walls. My floors are hardwood and I refinished them with traditional medium oak color and gives the room warmth. It is classic and will never go out of style IMHO. Hardware is relatively easy to change, so ~$1000 and I can change it if/when I sell.
    I also find white, while it shows dirt easier, actually makes you keep it cleaner in the long run. You notice and clean it up immediately.

    I love the granite you showed in the video as the "upgraded" type (the countertops at 8:52 are stunning), and I really wanted granite in my new kitchen, but I couldn't find any that I liked locally so I went with marble. I also absolutely love brass, in particular satin or brushed brass (polished not so much, as I much prefer more matte finishes than shiny in general). I also much prefer a gold color over silver. I'm doing my entire kitchen with satin brass hardware and I think it's gorgeous. I'm remodeling my house for me, as I don't plan to sell any time soon or possibly ever, so I'm putting in things that I like.

    I bought a house that was flipped two years ago. It has greyish floors, grey walls, ugly poured concrete countertops, identical to a jail floor to the floor of a janitors closet, But it does have a horrible granite bathroom countertop the flipper put in. A barn door but it’s good because it’s to the laundry room and it’s a tight space so it acts like a pocket door. White cabinets with ugly brushed nickel pulls. I would love to have some open cabinets to let some light in. People don’t need a bunch of crap anyways. The guy also opened up the house so there was no wall between front room, kitchen and living-room then he framed out the place where a wall was with rustic stained lumber to give the opening a beam feel. That was great!. And lastly awful big grey tiles in the shower and floor. Yuck. Slowly getting rid of everything.

    Any color, style, material or product will be outdated in a couple of years. Live with your gray walls or white kitchen and don’t listen to all that crap. Any renovation to get rid of your outdated decor will also be outdated in three to five years.

      @ Thank you for your reply. You are correct, the negativity wasn’t that bad, so I need to apologise. However, there are many people who ditch perfectly good items because they have been told they are not trendy, which is an awful waste of valuable resources. My response to your video should have been more measured, so, once again, sincere apologies.

    • @DavidNovakRealtor
      @DavidNovakRealtor  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @Annie-ez4ol Thank you for the reply. No reason to apologize as I totally understand what you mean. Lots of negative things out there and yes alot of people do things based upon others opinions. I still use all these in my projects and also tell my clients the same to use what they like and want. I was trying to convey the message that even though people say these types of things are out, its still ok to use them and they are still popular today. Anyway, thank you again for watching and the input I really do appreciate it.
