I really like her. It is very encouraging to see that someone like her could get through university and arrive at the end in such a state of mental and spiritual health, and that someone like her could still be successful in our time.

Are you really interested in the answers? After reading your other tirades on this video alone, it seems to me that you are not as open-minded as you claim to be. Additionally, no one makes eight comments on a single TH-cam video without being at least a little fanatical about one particular topic and point of view - which is clearly not the view that Ms. Lin holds.
@@skoz3342 I can understand I might have gone a bit overboard on making my point. But I felt it was absolutely necessary to counter Ms Lin's blatant inaccurate representation of the truth. Her stories were littered with false accusations with no prove, as I've mentioned. She is doing REAL harm to Chinese and Asians around the world. She is helping no one. My comments, frankly, pales against the damage she has already done and continues to do. Just check the comments and see all the hate she has stoked towards China and Chinese.
@@commonsense6550 I think that is a reflection of the people making those comments, not of Ms. Lin. I've spent my life watching people supposedly trained in political science, rhetoric, and philosophy, and she speaks with more grace, open-mindedness, and above all, logic, than most of them. She has also made a clear distinction between the CCP and the Chinese people and culture as a whole. Her points on political, particularly authoritarian, philosophies are spot on. That is not something I have often seen coupled with calmness, as most people that speak on/study those subjects become extremely aggressive when facing "the enemy". We will never get anywhere without open discussion and freedom of thought (and a lack of defensiveness/mindless aggression on both sides) and the CCP has made every effort to crush those two factors.
@@skoz3342 Ms Lin has an overly simplistic world view and her understanding of the Chinese govt is the same. Even her understanding of China's governance system is inaccurate. I'm not sure where she is getting her information but she is describing a China that is perhaps in the Culture Revolution era. I can't speak for the scholars you mentioned that are trained in political scence, but I agree there are plenty who aren't worth their weight. That's why there is so much disinformation out there. So many misguided people commenting about China and yet they have never set foot in China, or simply view China with a western-lens, very biased to say the least. Others just perpectuate these disinformation from the same misguided people. Ms Lin's goal is to get rich and famous. Not to help the Chinese people. That's the goal of a beauty queen. It's not too hard to see that Hollywood is her destination. Like I mentioned, no one benefited from this video. Not China, Not the Chinese people, not the viewers. The only thing accomplished was more hatred towards China, the Chinese/Asians (more victims), and Ms Lin got her foot in to Hollywood. Thanks for your comments, I respect your feedback. @@commonsense6550 I think that's a rather shallow understanding of what Ms. Lin is trying to do. You've made your thoughts clear at this point, especially when you label her as a "beauty queen". I thought we were past labels. That aside, I simply see a woman who is encouraging people to think, learn, research, and grow for themselves, which, again, the CCP is not a fan of. It is fact that they block Western media outlets and online platforms from users in their country. If that doesn't qualify as restriction of information, and, by extension, thought, I'm not sure what does. Additionally, I find it an interesting contradiction that you say you respect my feedback yet insinuate that I am a fool. But I suppose we can even learn from fools. :) Which would also mean that, if Ms. Lin is what you say she is, she too is a fool that we can learn from.

As with the Chinese American author Anchee Min, there are a few brave souls out there who would point out an interesting paradox. China knows far more about the west, than the west knows about China. The west is in many ways, far more transparent.
The corporate west bothered to learn enough about China to shift production operations and increase their profit margins. The corporate west salivates over the size of the emerging Chinese middle class. That is what the west deems to be important about China.
I believe one could wander through hundreds of western universities and find hardly anyone who knows much of anything about Maoist Chinese history, let alone the specifics of the Cultural Revolution. (Which is perhaps the reason why this video has so few views and no comments.)

It is by design of the training data and not exactly the algorithm by itself. Fortunately I expect this and my comment prior to censorship I saved locally to computer storage.
