Nice to hear that! I was convinced that nobody wants to see me skiing for more than a few seconds :) Sounds are actually very importnt when it comes to conveying the feel and atmosphere. I would very much want to develop in that area and your comment about the sound of skis made me think that yes this is also something to focus on. If I ski the next time, I try to also capture the squeaky sound the ski bindings do and also the skis sliding through snow. This binding sound can be somewhat irritating if you have to listen to it for hours when skiing, but it certainly is an important aspect to consider when trying to give my audience the feel of what it is like to be there.

@erik_normark is one of my hiking idols and the importance of capturing good audio I have actually learned from his videos. I would love to be as good but it takes lots of learning and experimenting. He is living in Northern Sweden where there is lots of snow. In my area you have to jump right away when snow comes because it won't last long, unfortunately.
