Good overnight stay making the best of the recent storm and downed trees. Nice choice for dinner... garlic and beef goes well together. I've got scheduled service appointments for the truck and camper these next couple of weeks and then back out again soon afterwards to catch more winter camping before the season ends. Hope you get out more often, too! Cheers! Pete in Arizona - KI7LIL
Hey Peters. Good to hear your'll be back out there soon. Service appt can be a pain. Looking forward to your pictures of your adventures. Hope to get out for a hot tent camp next.
G'day Josh, Great video yet again, SNOW! -10c well it's 35c and humid here YUCK - My daughter just got back from 2 months in Britain/France/Germany - with 3 friends - they had a house in Scotland with a wood fire but she was the only one who knew how to get it started - I guess all those camping trips paid off.
hey buddy. Ya something not a lot of people learn how to do. Driving a car, swimming, ride a bike and make a fire everyone should know how to do. When my daughter is 16 she just need the driving a car. lol
Great vid. Thx for posting. It may get down to -15 as the low is always just as the sun has come up and the temps are still dropping. They call for the overnight low to be such and such but fact is, it's doesn't actually happen to the following morning just after the sun has come up. It never, never, never happens that night before midnight. Checked it 100 times if I've checked it once.
Good stuff Josh! It's great to see the 'Company' branching out (see what I done there?) into smaller single occupant dwellings. Perhaps you can rent these out to wilderness 'newbies' and help them break into the bush craft life style. Thank you for the vicious Canadian rabbit warning, we don't have them here on the east coast US, we have vicious chipmunks. On a side note how did feeding the longer logs into your fire work out? That is similar to a Siberian log fire, less processing, longer burn time. Keep those cameras rolling sir!
I should air BNB the shelters. Some one said that before. lol. feeding the logs like this was great. less cutting and using energy. I'd be worried about them vicious chipmunks. Hope they said south of me. 😂
I LIKE the winter camping techniques!🤩 All that tree fall made me dream of bringing an electric chainsaw instead of an axe. 😇 A fella could prepare a bunch more boughs and firewood that way. I have done my share of camping in The Old Way and am ready to see new technology tried out in camp.
My friend, what a wonderful person you are in existence, how wonderful a person you are in your presence among beautiful books, because you are a beautiful person who loves life and practices love and adventure. ⚘❤
Great video Josh, I subscribed a while back but seems my notifications got turned off went in tonight looking at my subscription list (that's fairly long lol) and realized I had previously enjoyed your videos but hadn't seen one in a while, what a video for me to come in on tonight, this is an excellent one enjoyed it from start to finish great shelter definitely could spend a while there if you had to. Hopefully I'll get my notifications working now and I have some catching up to do
Yessir!! Nice work man, great camp set-up. Curious if you find the marino wool base layer worth the investment. Kudos for leaving a shelter for those ferocious rabbits, lol. Cheers, and keep well!
If you know that your shelter will not stop rain, then why didn't you bring a plastic/canvas with you? Light and easy to carry with such great effect. Any way I liked your Vid. Good work.
Fun video Josh, wanted to ask what type of pants were you hiking/working in ? And if the temp was going to drop a great deal more what would you change? Clothing wise. Again thanks for the share.
Most of my outwear is from www.helikon-tex.com as there are durable hold up well. If you get into colder you have to layer up with base layers, but at some point you may need a heavy winter pants and jacket. Everyone is different and the camp situation will play a roll. Fire will be key if you don't have heavy winter pants and jacket. It's something you have to try, but please becare if you do. Have a backout plan that will not fail you if you are training yourself.
A question I have had for a long time, you have the shelter built and tree boughs for a roof, works in the snow but not the rain. Why not a tarp on top of the boughs to become more water proof? Like your videos!!
*_Hello Joshua... sorry if my question is too stupid, because in my country there is no snow, so isn't it cold camping when there is a lot of snow?... Greetings from Indonesia...._* 🤝🙏
It is cold. But when you get used to it, it's not so bad. But at the same time you have to dress your self in layers of cloths and have a sleeping bag for the temps. Getting out of your sleeping bag into your cloths is the worse part to me. lol
Where I live it usually alternates between rain and snow and hail, so, if it rains what are you going to do? It would be a hell of a situation if you're sleeping in the middle of the night and it starts raining.
the first question is "wth are you doing out there? especially, wth are you doint without a sled full of gear and food? Resinous wood burns, green or not, wet or not, due to the sap being full of turpentine. You just have to know how to use the Siberian fire Lay and the Alternative Swedish fire torch. The swede or maybe 2 of them, are used to ignite the Siberian when all else is wet. The only dry wood needed is the shavings and scrapings that fill up the inside of the 4 log Swede bundle. The Swede dries out and burns from the inside out. The Siberian does so from the ends of the logs, wheere they protrude about 1 ft over the cross log. If all you have is small logs, drive 4 stakes and stack logs between the stakes, forming a wall.. Lay your burn logs over this "wall". You dont want your wall to burn, so plaster the fire side of the wall with a 3 " thick layer of mud. If you have to make a fire pit to melt snow and create the mud, do so.
The fire will keep the predators away. The open front of the shelter allows the heat from the fire to enter. With a closed in front you can't have an open fire inside. Given more time, some would create a surrounding wall to reflect more of the heat his way.
Please stop putting tools on the ground never lay a tool on the ground you use energy picking them up and could loose them or step on it and loose the edge
Kusk bushcraft is the channel. Have a look he is in alberta Canada. Im in NB as well and watching your videos makes me want to get out in the woods again

It’s a lot of fun to do something like this in the ice and snow. The heavy snow makes me shiver a little bit.
yes I like this simple trips where you don't need a lot of kit. It's a big but most of it was just my sleeping bag pushed in there freely.
Great video Josh! Glad we finally got some snow in the Maritimes! The winter fun in the woods can begin!
You got that right! Maybe even snow shoe soon.

Good overnighter Josh
Seeing all the deadfall, that storm must have had a lot of high wind!
Ya the winds were really bad. Lot of folks around here lost power for 5 days.
Hello so goy very good 👍 very cold🥶🥶🥶
This is not survival, it’s building a primitive kitchen for an outdoor cooking show
It’s a pretty basic kitchen though.
😂
I love your content. Greetings from Indonesia
Thanks so much 🙏
I am like addicted to your videos, so it's so cosy, so beautiful to watch it keep going, mate❤
Thanks so much BB. Glad you like the style. No drama here. But just a simple fun camp.

You are welcome my friend across the pond
Nice video
Never seen a fellow worried about a rabbit attack, lol!!!
Lol. 😉
Looked like a good opportunity where you were cutting the bows
Yessir!! Nice work man, great camp set-up. Curious if you find the marino wool base layer worth the investment. Kudos for leaving a shelter for those ferocious rabbits, lol. Cheers, and keep well!
The Marino wool seems to do a good job at getting the dam off for sure. For me it's worth it as I'm out in the bush alot
Watch out for those ferocious rabbits!😁
Lol. Ya there bad here 😏
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ thank-you!
Glad you like it Kel
Hi Joshl I am new to your channel what an Awesome Beautiful Amazing Scenery 😊
Thanks so much. Welcome to the channel and glad you enjoy the videos.
Great 👍
Thank you 👍
Be very careful of the voracious rabbits attacking from the back while asleep- and biting off a chunk of your exposed neck
🐰🐰🐰 🐇
Lol. Yes for sure

yes for sure I could. If it was spring or fall when there is a chance of rain I could have to. This is really only good for winter.
Those must be some mean rabbits😂
Good good video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed. have a great week.
Those must be some mean rabbits😂
lol ya rick there some of the wildest one's in North America. 😉
Brilliant ❤
It’s just a little rabbit!
😉
Good video. Thank you
Glad you liked it!
Not sure where you are, but it was a weird winter in Ontario, Canada. Little snow and cold, lots of rain. Sucked.
Just east in NB. Yes the winter was very warm and short. Didn't even snow shoe once.
Surely it’s warmer if you have a cover over the front made with the pine branches ?
I could have but this was great to let some heat in but still see outside
Nice 🤟
Thanks 🔥
Another great video. What size is your backpack? the 30L or 55L? cheers from the NWT.
hey Skipper. This one is the XL. I think 55L
cool!
Yeah, that'll stop the killer rabitts....
😆
Voracious what? Rabbits? Never heard of people being attacked by rabbits.
Hey David. I was just joking around. Just having some fun.
@@JoshuaGammon 🤣👍 You got me!
Obviously never watched Monty python!!!!
Don’t think there has ever been a recorded case of a rabbit attacking a man.
Lol, I got a scar on my arm to prove it happens. I Tried to pick up a young wild rabbit and he bit my arm
You haven’t seen Monty Python.
Not as long as you have the Holy hand grenade of Antioch handy.
Don't forget Jimmy Carter and the Jeckel island rabbit. Circa 1980
To much weed
Voracious rabbits? 😂😂
Lol. I know right

Ha,ha, ha. Did you really slept through the night without a constant fire throughout the night?
Yes. You still need a warm sleeping bag

I never understand why you would not have a door of some sort any predators that might be about !
It's just a quick simple shelter for a short time.
The fire will keep the predators away. The open front of the shelter allows the heat from the fire to enter. With a closed in front you can't have an open fire inside. Given more time, some would create a surrounding wall to reflect more of the heat his way.
Winter Bushcraft Camping in Snow
More lighting required. Couldnt see anything and need wider shots. It will protect you from the rabbits😅
Lol. Them rabbits are big. Lol
Do you think any animal would sleep in the shelter after you left or would they be pur off by the human smell (no offence to you!)
Not sure. I have never seen animal signs in my shelters before.
Please stop putting tools on the ground never lay a tool on the ground you use energy picking them up and could loose them or step on it and loose the edge
Thanks for the tip Michael. It's a bad habit.
Hi josh
Hey How's it going
Yah n pack of wolves n others be ur neighbors feeding on da catch
Why not melt some snow in the cooking pot and use the warm/hot water for cleaning the pot rather than scrub with snow?? Makes more sense no?
For sure I could have did that. But this works also.
Rabbits??? Really???
❤❤🇰🇭❤️
Elindeki testereyi bana hediye edermisin lütfen
If you can't take the heat get out of the woods
LOL. ya it's a little hot.
i dont think you spent the night there mate
I did though. 👍
I will love to see a camper hunt a deer or a rabbit for dinner instead of bringing processed food or prepackaged food
Hey Peter. Maybe some day.
I like to see both but i just watched a video where a guy shot a partrige and fried it up with potatoes. Ill find it for you
