It’s a lot of fun to do something like this in the ice and snow. The heavy snow makes me shiver a little bit.
yes I like this simple trips where you don't need a lot of kit. It's a big but most of it was just my sleeping bag pushed in there freely.

Fun video Josh, wanted to ask what type of pants were you hiking/working in ? And if the temp was going to drop a great deal more what would you change? Clothing wise. Again thanks for the share.
Most of my outwear is from www.helikon-tex.com as there are durable hold up well. If you get into colder you have to layer up with base layers, but at some point you may need a heavy winter pants and jacket. Everyone is different and the camp situation will play a roll. Fire will be key if you don't have heavy winter pants and jacket. It's something you have to try, but please becare if you do. Have a backout plan that will not fail you if you are training yourself.
G'day Josh, Great video yet again, SNOW! -10c well it's 35c and humid here YUCK - My daughter just got back from 2 months in Britain/France/Germany - with 3 friends - they had a house in Scotland with a wood fire but she was the only one who knew how to get it started - I guess all those camping trips paid off.
hey buddy. Ya something not a lot of people learn how to do. Driving a car, swimming, ride a bike and make a fire everyone should know how to do. When my daughter is 16 she just need the driving a car. lol

Good overnight stay making the best of the recent storm and downed trees. Nice choice for dinner... garlic and beef goes well together. I've got scheduled service appointments for the truck and camper these next couple of weeks and then back out again soon afterwards to catch more winter camping before the season ends. Great vid. Thx for posting. It may get down to -15 as the low is always just as the sun has come up and the temps are still dropping. They call for the overnight low to be such and such but fact is, it's doesn't actually happen to the following morning just after the sun has come up. It never, never, never happens that night before midnight. Checked it 100 times if I've checked it once.
yes you are right. I fine the coldest time is between 4-6am

The Marino wool seems to do a good job at getting the dam off for sure. For me it's worth it as I'm out in the bush alot

Good stuff Josh! It's great to see the 'Company' branching out (see what I done there?) into smaller single occupant dwellings. Perhaps you can rent these out to wilderness 'newbies' and help them break into the bush craft life style. Thank you for the vicious Canadian rabbit warning, we don't have them here on the east coast US, we have vicious chipmunks. On a side note how did feeding the longer logs into your fire work out? That is similar to a Siberian log fire, less processing, longer burn time. Keep those cameras rolling sir!
I should air BNB the shelters. Some one said that before. lol. feeding the logs like this was great. less cutting and using energy. I'd be worried about them vicious chipmunks. Hope they said south of me. 😂

I LIKE the winter camping techniques!🤩 All that tree fall made me dream of bringing an electric chainsaw instead of an axe. 😇 A fella could prepare a bunch more boughs and firewood that way. I have done my share of camping in The Old Way and am ready to see new technology tried out in camp.

Great video Josh, I subscribed a while back but seems my notifications got turned off went in tonight looking at my subscription list (that's fairly long lol) and realized I had previously enjoyed your videos but hadn't seen one in a while, what a video for me to come in on tonight, this is an excellent one enjoyed it from start to finish great shelter definitely could spend a while there if you had to. A question I have had for a long time, you have the shelter built and tree boughs for a roof, works in the snow but not the rain. Why not a tarp on top of the boughs to become more water proof? Like your videos!!
yes for sure I could. If it was spring or fall when there is a chance of rain I could have to. This is really only good for winter.

Not sure where you are, but it was a weird winter in Ontario, Canada. Little snow and cold, lots of rain. Sucked.
Just east in NB. Yes the winter was very warm and short. Didn't even snow shoe once.

It is cold. But when you get used to it, it's not so bad. But at the same time you have to dress your self in layers of cloths and have a sleeping bag for the temps. Getting out of your sleeping bag into your cloths is the worse part to me. lol

Con ese refugio si se levanta viento, lluvia o una nevada intensa, el fuego se te apaga, te entra agua o nieve por todos lados y por otro lado no te da calor ni protección. Para el vídeo está muy bonito pero a nivel práctico lo pasarías muy mal. Ni un reflector para que el calor del fuego te llegue.

Why not melt some snow in the cooking pot and use the warm/hot water for cleaning the pot rather than scrub with snow?? Makes more sense no?
For sure I could have did that. But this works also.
Please stop putting tools on the ground never lay a tool on the ground you use energy picking them up and could loose them or step on it and loose the edge
