Impressed with how the Honda is doing with all the weight onboard. Great little bike! This is an awesome adventure, great stuff. Got me fired up to drag the DR out for a blast...
I don't have a bike licence yet but would love to ride these tracks next year. Flew my gyro from Newcastle to Darwin through the centre and over desert. Enjoying your videos!
@@ShonkyProductions I think in your wrap up video you stated they did 4,000 kilometers. Considering the extent of pavement riding, loaded weight of your CRF, and total distance covered that Starcross 5 on the front was money. Thanks for the series - really good stuff.
Inspirational stuff guys ! I will find it extremely difficult to leave the warm bliss of the Dalhousie hot springs. That's the epitome of paradise , to me at least . Ride safe . I appreciate your efforts . Cheers 💯
Perfect conditions indeed!! So jealous not long to go now,August is a bit of a gamble between hear and possibly soft sand but I am hoping for good conditions also.
That's the 'easy' 1/3 I reckon. I have recollections of the Birdsville end being a LOT sandier. At least you'll be carrying less weight which is good. Also, the whoops and divots aren't really caused by trailers so much as people going through with their tyre pressure set too high. If you air right down (like 14 or 16PSI) you don't mess up the track nearly as much. But people don't like going down low for some reason.
I may be crazy, but I run 30 PSI in the D606 rear tyre on the 250 Rally. It's done 7000 km so far, mostly on tarseal at 100-110 km/h. It's hard to say, but I reckon it's got another 1000-1500 km before I'll think about replacing it. That's all without baggage. But I probably weigh 40 kilos more than you :p
Yes Bruce, it was a bit of a gamble running the rear tyre I did. I knew the D606 would have done the distance, but wanted to try something a little better in the sand. In the end I was happy with the Tracker rear in the sand, it just initially wore a bit quicker than I had expected. It still gripped and performed well... even now.
Hi Richard, I only shoot in 1089 HD to save room on the SD cards. Also, I'm only using an older GoPro Hero 5. I will upgrade when funds allow. Thanks for watching.
@@ShonkyProductions Bit of a tech question. How do you get TH-cam to publish in the VP09 codec when you upload in 1080? Great footage and I like the way you narrate throughout the day.
@@DJspidermonkey1 That's too techy for me... I just use Adobe Premiere Pro to edit it and then select the output to TH-cam HD 1080.. it does the codec stuff itself.
Great stuff. For multi-day rides without chances of restocking provisions, I took a leaf out of Paul Kitrly’s book - actually reading the labels and calculating how many cabs, vitamins, minerals, and how much fat etc I was consuming per day. Most of the time we eat and drink whatever we like because it’s convenient, but when it comes to balancing our needs with our wants and then balancing all that with weight and fuel consumption we need to stop and think. This video (although long-winded) put all that in perspective for me. Hope it helps you on your next desert crossing or round the world tour! m.th-cam.com/video/aLAh77etv14/w-d-xo.html

Hi cjeremie, thanks for watching. That sounds like a great trip in the gyro! As you would of noticed, it's a little rougher on the ground!
Working my way through this series. Good stuff. Impressed by the life of the Michelin Tracker and Starcross thus far.
Yes, I loved those Starcross 5 tyres. the new Starcross 6 are not as good.

Dave seems like such a cool guy 👍Bring on ten.
Haha, Dave is very chilled that's why I like him and get along well with him on rides like this.

Thanks Corbin.
left frame bag settled ➤ GO ➤ the hard DESERT section begins / RIDE SAFE
Yes, it's getting harder... stay tuned.
Excellent!
Thanks for watching. Another episode out soon...
Mate with that much weight on the back should at least run 25psi on the rear .
Great video buddy ride safe
Thanks, will do!
Awesome!

Yep, it's getting harder from here on in.
Hi, whats that exhaust? looks really cool
It is a Moto-X header pipe and a Akropovic muffler. The muffler was one I had in the shed and I had to custom fit it to the bike.
how much premium 95 fuel do you see in the outback?
in most servos?
@@bondibeast there were days when I couldn't get it. I now take a bottle of octane booster with me into the outback.

Dave is riding his KTM 990. It's set-up with larger, long range tanks.
