    I've had most of my big bass on a 5in. lizard. But also, love the brush hog and finesse worms. Zoom puts out some great products!

    • @shadygraves
      @shadygraves ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That 5" lizard is the deal on a Carolina rig! A green pumpkin magic baby brush hog and waterlogged chartreuse Centipede complete my top 3 C-rig baits.

  • @Darkman-Fishing
    @Darkman-Fishing ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I don’t use a lot of Zoom product cause in California we use a ton of hand pours or Robo worms but my top three are gold to me.
    1) Baby brush hog. I C-Rig these, Bass love them.
    2) Flukes, doesn’t matter what size. Thy flat out catch fish.
    3) lil critter craw. Finesse trailer, Ned rig, split shot. My alternative to the hard to find baby Guido Bug

  • @richardbossman9875
    @richardbossman9875 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Before watching my guesses
    1. Trick worm
    2. Z-craw
    3. Brush hawg
    Randy is definitely right that it is hard to narrow it down, looking over their lineup I can see over a dozen that have cult followings.

    • @richardbossman9875
      @richardbossman9875 ปีที่แล้ว

      And the top three were:
      1. Z-craw
      2. Super Chunk Jr.
      3. Trick worm
      Right 2 out of three although I was thinking stand alone lures and not including trailers.

    The Zoom Magnum Ultravibe Speed Worm has to be #1 in Florida. You might as well not even leave the ramp if you forget em!

      @marciel3054 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@zachg5356 Medium heavy rod. 50 lbs braid. I use a 6/0 for the Mag and a 4/0 for the regular size. I like rigging them Texas rig style with a screw lock EWG hook so the bait lasts longer. Then I either burn them over the grass on certain days, or I will slow roll them about a foot under the water. I don’t think I’ve ever been skunked on that bait. Definitely my confidence bait.

    Thanks Randy, but without a doubt the top Zoom product is the Finesse Worm in green pumpkin fished on a 1/8 oz darter head with an Aberdeen (gold) hook. It works any time of year as well as at night. It has been a standard of bassers here in GA since the early 90’s.

    Hey Randy, I've been fishing for 55 years and Zoom is my favorite soft bait company. We agreed on the Trick worm but I have to go with the Super Fluke because of it's versatility. Great texas rigged and makes a terrific chatterbait trailer. And my all-time favorite Zoom lure is the Horny Toad. I'm partial because I caught my PB of 11 lbs 5 ozs on it. All around great company with products that produce at a great price. Honorable mention goes to the lizard, brush hog, and Ol' Monster worm.

But we entered the tournament the day before Drew second to last boat out....and by the time we got there....there was 50 boats all flipping the mats.... I'd have to say the Finesse Worm is, hands down, #1 for me. It has given me several spring days with 200-300 bites, resulting in 75-80 spotted bass caught. Second would be the SuperFluke. It gave me several bass over 7lbs. Finally, the waterlogged chartreuse Centipede, aka. Grady's GloStik, has been my #1 Carolina rig bait since the late 80s. It won me alot of money.

      The Green Pumpkin Flash is an awesome swim jig trailer BUT the key is to get the BIG ONE and cut 3 sections off. The reason for this is because the Jr in that color tends to have more GREEN PUMPKIN on the tentacles, whereas the big one has more FLASH.

      White was always my best trick worm color, followed by green pumpkin. Green pumpkin magic is my baby brush hog color. Pearl was always my #1 fluke color but I like to switch up with light penetration. Cloudy or low light=pearl. Clear or bright=albino or crazy chrome. Bright or for bream eaters=Mardi Gras.

    To me for it to be the top it has to be a category standard or original. The Fluke is a category standard. So is the Trick worm. I think #3 would be either tve brush hog as original creature bait or Ultravibe speed craw was an original for craws with flapping tails.

    • @shadygraves
      @shadygraves ปีที่แล้ว

      The original fluke SUCKED! My brother gave me some in the clear/gold/copper color (now golden bream), back in 1991. I caught a couple over 7lbs on it but it was hard to float weightless. That's why they later made the Super Fluke. Now THAT is one awesome plastic. I got one over 9 on it. For sheer numbers, the Finesse worm simply cannot be beat.

  • @acme9538

    4-Super Chunk Jr
    5-Baby Brush Hog

    Back in the 90s the joke was on my home lake Clark Hill. Any worm will catch fish, as long as it's a Zoom U-tale and long as it's Watermelon Seed. We fished it on a Carolina Rig, up to 5 feet long. First creature bait I remember was Zoom Creepy Crawler. They came pre rigged. They didn't invent the Fluke, Lunker City's Fin-S was that. But they did improve it. The Fish Doctor was our winter time bait, called the Do Nothing worm back then. We fished the Trick Worm weightless on a short leader. Called it the floating worm, even though it really doesn't float. It's now the #1 worm on Clark Hill now, fished anyway possible. You know, as long as it's watermelon seed

    Really the super fluke didn't make top 3? It's my top bass catching lure for spring time and pre spawn. I've never tried a speed worm before. I might have to try it next year. The super chunk is a go getter for sure. Keep up the good work Randy.

    Randy, have you ever thrown any micro lures for bass, at any time of year?

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fly fish food, had something called a 'Batman nymph'. It's basically a bass jig with live rubber legs. That got put into an atomizer machine, and made into miniature scale. I don't know how one would throw it, apart from Carolina rigs or some kind of drop shot system vertically. I don't know if bass would respond or not.

      @@williamfaragher3671 There's a design out there, known as a 3F Frog. And it's interesting as a scaled down frog bait too maybe. Yeah, perhaps for creek fishing with Tenkara tackle maybe. But it could be used to 'pattern' fish that could be feeding up, next to topwater vegetation.

      @@williamfaragher3671 Martyn White Flicking Feathers. He's got an interesting range of flies on his channel. That you will recognize as almost minature bass lures, if one knows anything about bass lures. The frogs he has are some. There's also Texas rigging types of flies. He actually makes them for saltwater I think (surprisingly small baits can work in saltwater). My guess is that 'clear' water in freshwater too, like saltwater where fish can visually hunt. Using too big a lure might not be advantageous. I've always fished 'clear' freshwater. And the large fish really don't mind small lures. They're just as effective (within reason), as large baits. Where water gets darker for a certain amount of time, larger baits can clean up too.

      Martyn White has quite a caralogue of bonefish and warm water bass flies. Just checking now, the 3F Frog was from five years ago in his library. Along with some interesting ones. The Bunny Boiler bass fly, the Grim Reaper. And others. It's worth having a scan through the collection.

      Best way to use them from a boat I'd say, is just to leave a Tenkara type rod and line on the boat deck. In case the opportunity came along to throw a foam bug or similar. It's as simple a system as one can get.
