How have the hinges held up? Might not be enough weight to matter but did you use longer screws?

Yes longer screws to make sure they are sunk into solid wood. I actually sold this property, so I couldn't tell you how it's doing. However, I see no reason it still wouldn't be functioning as intended. It also isn't much heavier than to begin with.
