- Meet one of the fantastic faculty members in the music department at MSU Denver.
Dr. Charles Lee received his bachelor’s degree in composition/piano from the Eastman School of Music and a master’s degree in cello performance at Temple University under Jeffrey Solow. He moved to Boulder in 1996 to pursue a Doctor of Musical Arts degree under Judith Glyde at the University of Colorado, which he received in 2004. Dr. Lee has been principal cellist of the Boulder Philharmonic orchestra since 1998, and also performs with Colorado Ballet Orchestra and Opera Colorado Orchestra. Dr. Lee is the Instructor of Cello at Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Charles alone is enough reason to attend this school. You will not find a more beautiful left hand and right hand anywhere. That relaxed power is just dreamy, and that is why his sound is incomparable. Of course he is more than a great cellist - he is a virtuoso musician, a composer, and entirely dedicated to excellence. Learning from Charles is life-changing, and I am beyond grateful for the years that I spent with him.
I have worked with Dr. Lee a number of times in the professional world and I can't think of any words to give him high enough praise. He is a consummate musician and professional. And I imagine as a teacher, he would impart the most amazing of these skills and knowledge to his students.
