I'd just like to say that I had two codes on my 2009 town and country 3.3L. First code was for the cat converter, low efficiency or something like that...I think P0420. I had that code for maybe a year even after having the cat converter replaced and O2 sensors checked etc... 2nd and more recent code was P0401 for "insufficient EGR flow". Engine was starting to knock and shake or run poorly when idling. Found that EGR valve pipe blocked about 5 days ago and both codes have been gone ever since. It's back to running normal again. Super easy fix! Thanks!
Replaced the EGR valve twice. Just replaced that tube altogether. Disconnected the battery. That reset the code. Just got the code again four days later. The engine kicked the bucket right after I replaced the first EGR valve. Put a rebuilt engine in, and the problem is still there. Looks like the blockage is either in the rear cylinder head or the old exhaust manifold.
That was it! Saved me $$$. thank you. Had P0401 & P0420. Both cleared & been 3 days and still no check engine light!
Brilliant, mate. Mine was clogged except for a pinhole the size of a toothpick. 2001 Grand Caravan.
