Everyone commenting on the fact that Silco and Jinx have a father daughter relationship.
Jinx is stuck in the mind of a child because of her trauma that's why she's so clingy with Silco.

Yeah some scenes with Jinx and Silco feel a bit weird and to make it even more Jinx in game she is like 15 :)
Jinx didn't shoot that girl thinking it was Vi. We see exactly what she sees: Vi for a split second, then just a girl that looked like her. Jinx realized right away it wasn't actually Vi, then shot her.
Considering we hadn’t seen her after the time jump yet I don’t know how we were supposed to know that it wasn’t her, she looked just like Vi to me. I was CONFUSED

Jinx and silco have more of a father daughter type of relationship. It’s just that jinx doesn’t know or is unaware or even care about those boundaries which creates more and more of an idea of jinx’s mental state
I would say father daughter is even a bit far. Its much more like groomed girl seeking the approval and affection of an older male figure. Which is why it has that borderline weird feeling that you dont get from father daughter (Vander and the girls)

@@iceman10129 He's a mob boss, he keeps the cards on everyone. Silco doesn't love her like a daughter, but he does see her value. Furthermore, he sees her as a reflection of him, so as long as she follows a similar path as he does, he's fine with her eccentricities. But it's not unconditional.
I'm pretty sure she hesitated *because* she thought it was Vi, and when she realized it wasn't she killed the girl. She didn't kill her thinking it was Vi

Yeah, Jinx and Silco are supposed to have a father-daughter relationship. It's just that Jinx doesn't seem to be the kind of person who understand/respect personal boundaries and Silco probably didn't enforce any boundaries with her. It's like when he said to Vander to free the monster within him. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point Silco encouraged Jinx to be as unhinged and crazy as she could be, thinking that it was best for her.
I think the framing of it was also deliberately made to make the viewer uncomfortable because while their relationship is indeed that of Father-Daughter, at the end of the day Silco still tuned a little girl into a ruthles murderer. We're SUPPOSED to be uncomfortable about it, even if there's nothing sexual in their relationship. Very cleverly done by the writers, imo.
@@puffy1700 I agree. There's no way it wasn't intentional. Every single frame of this show is meticulously crafted. It's obvious Jinx loves him, and my interpretation was that they are a thing, but Riot left it ambiguous because many people would find the age gap and relationship dynamic disturbing.

The Developers stated that Jinx was inspired by the Joker (obviously ) but also Gollum from Lord of the Rings, and Helena Bonham Carter, who played Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter.

Jinx and Silco have a father-daughter relationship... didn't get anything sexual from them. Both strongly latched onto eachother. Silco having experienced what Powder did, and empathizing with the child. Jinx having lost everything and immediately imprinting on Silco.
We even see how far Silco's blinded by their relationship cuz he blames Sevika, instead of really holding Jinx responsible.
@Tyler Ton Sevika could escape if she use her arm, it's just she wait for correct moment, but it won't come.
One thing that often gets overlooked in animated shows is the voice acting. Which this show absolutely has top tier voice acting. Coupled with amazing sound design and incredible attention to detail.
Indeed; this Arcane series really shows the value of excellent casting and sound design. They knew the impact they needed to make.
I love how all my predictions from that one scene at the 10min mark I kept getting wrong haha

Jinx knew that the girl she shot wasn't Vi, you can see in the conversation between her and Silco in the office when he said "your sister is gone you know it as well as I do" they both believe that Vi is dead
I think they needed to focus on that girls face for maybe an extra couple seconds to make it clearer. It seems to be fooling alot of people. But, i like that this show does creative little tricks like that to highlight Jinx's mental state.

No. It doesn't mean sexuality. It's a love language, and in this case, one expressed by someone crippled by abandonment issues and mental illness. Silco just allows Jinx to express herself in a way that makes her feel comfortable and safe. Always take note on how he never pushes it into anything more, but takes on a fathery method of gentleness and support. Their relationship is absolutely tied by instability and personal strife, but it's what also makes their connection so incredible.
Overall, the team behind Arcane has done an exceptional job. They deserve all the awards.
Also, the show was animated in France, in Europe they don`t have the kind of puritanical hangups we Americans have been conditioned with "Sex bad and make Jesus cry, you no want Jesus to cry, do you?So be abstaining of sex `til marry!"
I don’t think whatever happened between Jinx & Silco is remotely sexual. It may seem like it, but i believe it’s more of a co dependency relationship, mostly on Jinx’s end. We saw signs of this in act 1 and most heavily in the end of ep 3, she wasn’t stable from the beginning, after everything that happened in her childhood she went completely unhinged.

@@megatron111184 I think it's that moment when he is on the chair and she is next to him, I could see why they feel that way, but I feel the animator did that shot in a way that we could feel a bit creeped out like a lot of things with Jinx this episode, for me it was just a part of her character and that's just her twisted way of interacting!!
I don't think it's sexual either, but I was thrown off guard by their interactions for a slight moment and for that moment I did think there was a weird relationship going on from silco's view, especially when she got up close to him on that chair. It's not like it was a bad thing, it just threw me off guard for a moment because it's not how a daughter and a dad would interact normally for their age. But I realize it's because silco is like her dad that she couldn't interact with as a kid and now has the chance to. It also really shows how much she depends on someone to make her feel useful.
I kinda disagree. It's pretty ambiguous. There's also a scene in episode 5 where they were very close and it looked like they were going to kiss (when they were in the water). The camera hung on that frame for way too long to not be intentional. They were trying to build that tension. You could be right, but I think the show runners want us to feel uneasy and question what's going on there. I do think there is something between them, but either they want it to remain a mystery, or they didn't want to overtly put that kind of relationship in the show because some people would find it disturbing or get upset. (He was like her adoptive father after all).
@@koolaidjerk true that scene in ep 5 was very tension heavy, but I don’t think it was meant to be of sexual kind. It was more like showcasing the unhealthy relationship between them , it was meant to be creepy. They have a very weird co dependent relationship, but it’s more on the Father daughter spectrum then anything else. He is very much sympathetic towards her and treats her like the child she is, but at the same time sees her as a reflection of his younger self and wants her to be strong.
Powder is in a prison her own mind and her body is free. Jayce was lock up in a cell in episode, but his mind was free. Himemdinger comment on this.

You can't really say that with 100% confidence though. They are said to have a father-daughter dynamic, but nothing in the show says it's STRICTLY father-daughter. I think it was left ambiguous on purpose to not upset anyone.

Silco defends Jinx no matter how she screws up, let’s her help him with his injection, takes her side over Sevika whom herself says Jinx is like his daughter which I believe given she’s been with them all these years. She’d know if something more was going on. Jinx is very touchy feely, but that’s to be expected given that she craves affection. Silco never touches her inappropriately either. He lets her be affectionate and that’s about the extent of it. Also the mug she made him on his desk is very reminiscent of a child gifting something to their parents as a show of love.
@@koolaidjerk i mean anyone who has common sense and the ability to analyze relationship dynamics wouldnt think that they are sexual partners. Silco still treats Jinx like a child. Giving her special privileges, comforting and giving her advice when she screws up, while also protecting her. That is not a couple dynamic but more so a father-daughter one. Besides Silco knows that Jinx is pretty much the second daughter of Vander. So why on earth would he had sexual relationships with her? He would be having visions of Vander while doing so and Im pretty sure that wouldnt be pleasant considering the fact that Silco hated Vander. It would also be demeaning for someone like him who has big visions for the future. Instead he protects her and takes on the father figure for Jinx that Vander left behind

Squid game just can’t compare. Mostly besides all the characters didn’t have as much depth compared to Arcane.
It’s not even a competition, Arcane wins by a country mile.

Similarities with Harley are plain but the Jinx in this show shares a narrative with a different blue female sociopath. Nebula. (But with a capacity for mania. Nebula doesn't have ecstatic states. She's just always incredibly angry.)
The big difference being Nebula, as traumatized as she is, doesn't have psychosis
The main difference between Jinx, and Harley, is that Jinx actually has a better backstory and more tragic. Harley is just a character that falls in love with the Joker and gets thrown into acid, and gets crazier.

Everyone says they're lovers, I think its a deeper systemic problem. If it was a mother and son we wouldn't bat an eye. I think it's just the perspective we have when we see men who act loving or affectionate towards kids. It's just assumed they have ulterior motives, other than just tryna be a good parental figure. It's really shitty honestly. I love kids, I think they are hilarious. I could never admit that though or everyone would be lookin at my like I'm some kinda monster....
That being said Silco isn't the greatest father figure, but the point remains lol

I've seen all episodes and damn, they just nailed it. The animations, beauty and especially Fighting sequence was absolutely unbelievable & mind-blowing 🔥🤩
I absolutely fiend for new episodes of the series, the art, storyline and characters are all a delight.
The main difference between Jinx, The Joker, and Harley, is that Jinx actually has a better backstory and more tragic. Harley is just a character that falls in love with the Joker and gets thrown into acid, and gets crazier. Joker in most of his movie and tv adaptations so far has had no real reason as to why he's crazy, he simply is for no reason. Finally, Jinx has trauma, PTSD, and many other mental problems because of her tragic backstory, way better imo.
joker is basically chaos personified, so his backstory isn't the POINT of his character
jinx here is a story about a broken person, so her backstory is the point

It's neither confirmed nor denied explicitly in the show. It's really just speculation. I think they are, based on my interpretation of how their interactions have played out. The show could prove me wrong, but I think leaving it as suggestive was Riot's way of leaving it ambiguous and in the imagination of the viewer. They probably don't want to overtly depict that kind of an age gap/relationship dynamic because some would find it very disturbing.

the way jinx acts near silco is to show that she hasn't matured much because of her trauma, so it may seem weird to ppl watching but it's still a father daughter relationship. in fact part of the reason she might have not matured is because silco doesn't hold her accountable for her mishaps, like a pampered child. she was a little girl when he "adopted" her and he sees himself in her relationship with vi

Jinx's fleshing out of her insanity and the trauma is just beautiful, watching Vi struggle with where she's from and she is, just chefs frickin' kiss. I'm new to LoL, but I'm loving this show so much. The animation with Jinx's drawings reminds me of Harley Quinn in the Arkham games.

Silco and Jinx's relationship is meant to be a father and daughter connection. Jinx has a lot of moments where she gets in extremely close proximity to other people. I think it's because of her anxiety and abandonment issues. With people she cares about she wants to keep them close as she can like resting her head on silco's or when she thought that girl was Vi she wouldn't let go even when they were standing in fire. But with other people I think it's a way of keeping control of the situation. She invades their space, knocks them off balance, and makes them nervous. When she's interrogating or intimidating someone she's right THERE in their face. They can't get away and that gives her control

Nothing wrong with comparisons just makes me like the characters even more cause there familiar
As an esk8r, I want one of those hover boards (Yes, I know we all want Hover Boards, mine was scheduled to arrive 6 years ago).
For those of us who knew League, the surprise for us wasn't who she turned out to be but HOW she got there. But that shocked just about everyone I think, familiar with the lore or not.

Don't worry they only have a father-daughter relationship but I can see why you could think they have "that" Joker and Harley vibe but it's not like that. Powder is just a very clingy child, she's always been like that it was just amplified even more after the time "she only wanted to help". Combine that with her mental instability and Silco basically letting her do almost everything she wants. Makes you think what could've been, Vander would've been the father that is strict but very kind while Silco could've been that scary looking uncle but actually spoils all his nephews/nieces. But alas this ain't Disney, this is Runeterra.
