CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE TRUMPET PLAYING THE PICCOLO SOLO??? AMAZING!!!
DO! NOT! MENTION! THE! SOP! PLAYER! Universal brass band rule
Eb Soprano cornet most likely rather than trumpet, but yes, amazing!
The "president's own" just released a lower brass quartet playing Stars and Stripes Forever. The piccolo solo is magnificently covered by Euphonium.
Challenge to Matoniz: match him, I know you can I just want to hear it.
I believe the D flat piccolo part is easier to play on most any B flat instrument than a C piccolo or flute. It’s off by a half step from what Sousa wrote and the trills are not easy that way. I have had tuba and euphonium players (or myself) fill in for or double the pic part many times.
Ive once heard a tuba play it live at a Texas Tech concert. It was wild
I’ve decided to learn euphonium after watching some of your videos. I’m not regretting the decision, such an amazing instrument. After already knowing trombone the switch hasn’t been too difficult.
With 9 or so years of exp on baritone I learned trombone in a week, I feel ya there
@@FirstnameLastname-et3wd do you know of a way I can learn bass clef? I've been playing euphonium for almost 3 years and just kinda settled in on TC
I started with euphonium and then learned trombone
Essentially you just have to know the Fingerings But the mouthpieces are essentially the same and Clef and Range are too. Except the Trombone is a bit lower
Basically a less jazzy trombone with valves lol
In 1986 I was the only bassoon player in the band of the Royal Military College of Canada at Saint-Jean (that's what happens when you show up to grade 9 music class with braces and all the saxophones and clarinets are already gone). Then we got a new kid who was a symphonic virtuoso on the farting bedpost, and since we only had one of them, I ended up sans instrument. Our music director needed another baritone/euphonium player and since I played piano, trombone, and trumpet as well, I got handed the spare baby tuba. Fast forward six months and I'm wearing liederhosen at Oktoberfest. Never had to wear liederhosen to play the basson; just sayin'. Anyhow, I fell in love with the thing - more fun than the tuba in a marching band, and waaay lighter too (added bonuses: no chance of losing your slide during a Freedom of the City parade - don't ask - and much less chance than French horns or trumpets of valve-freeze during a February parade in Canada).
Thanks, this was great to watch, a little trip down memory lane. Sousa is to the horns as Rachmaninoff is to the piano. And the frantic dumping of the water from the pipes got me laughing.
You have no idea how much I enjoyed this!!!! I haven't played this on the baritone in SOOOOO long.......It was always so much fun to do!!! (on any instrument really) thank you!!!
i discovered this awesome song in the video where the other euphonium player was fooling around.
Nice content btw.
I don’t really like this arrangement but you guys pulled it off so well!!!!!
The tubas are killing it in the background. I'm a tuba player and i love how well they blend in
Tubas unite
Tubas are amazing.
Ello there fellow tuba mates, I'm a beginner and I'm gonna need some tips on how to improve my tone quality here, anyone care to share some tips?
@@Bob-hh8rp use more upper lip for the higher notes, and more lower lip for the lower notes. Other than that, practice.
@@funkapotamus86 thanks mate
Okay I need a pdf sheet of the trumpet player that’s playing the piccolo solo
Whenever I'm forced to play sousa I wish I didn't I didn't play French horn
Or any march whatsoever.
@@jsaavedr1 true
feels like he didn't know what to do with the French horn I just play trombone or euphionum part on french horn instead
I used to learn the trombone parts and play those on the French horn. Believe me, no one missed the back beats
I play bassoon and I have this same problem
Piccolo solo → Trumpet
Rip piccolos😢 I’m a piccolo player and I’m still trying to learn the solo for this song!
Hannahs Flutes I suck at playing the solo
My highschool band did it my senior year and I was the only piccolo player 👁️👄👁️ probably sounded like garbage but I did it
Euphoniums forever!!Best instrument ever invented. 88years old and still playing.
Wow that's amazing, its my 6th year and i love it!
are you still alive
@@luckbinwhat is wrong with you
@@hugeballs What is wrong with you, your username???
Yes I play it's Lil bro the baritone
At least no one stood up at the wrong time hah
:D
I have sen the bait video where your euphonium friend stood up and baited you to also stand up. He seems like a good player with a touch of humour at the right time. Love your performance! Such a good march that deserves to be the national march!
God bless America and the Euphoniuns!

I love the Euphonium part! One of the only pieces of music to have low brass play the melody at one part.
A lot of marches are like this
@@Eloweh yea lol
U havent heard? March april May, Our Glorious Land, Bandology and many more
HAAAAA the first gal almost got the second gal to stand up. 😜😜😜 we all know where she gets that. 😬😜
I'm the only euphonium player in my school band. How I wish I have a companion 😔
I thought he was going at attempt the piccolo part
Played baritone/euphonium in a high school military marching band and symphonic band in the early '70s. Watching you guys brings back great memories...keep killing it!
I'm graduating from high school this year and Im in a military marching band. We're the last one in Ohio.
Im playing in my middleschool marching band!
Why do they always feel like they need to change the music ? I have this memorized for 40 years, but not like this.
Why is s trumpet playing the piccolo solo? (There weren't any piccolo? :V) I don't like it
I'm in love with euphonium.
yooooo the trumpet doing the picc part was so cool!!
Have you ever done a Sousa Concert with Keith Brion?? It’s a workout. Constant music.
Concert piece - march - concert piece - march and so on.
I played bass trombone for a concert and a recording I did under him for Naxos with the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Wind Orchestra a couple of years ago
It was as you said it was. A lot of playing, hardly any rests, a face bender and stomach crippler.
I’ve done a Sousa concert, and a concert with Keith Brion, but not together.
This is easy mode, now do the original part.
Hello Matonizz, I wanted to know if I had really won the DUKE ELLINGTON video competition MEET THE BRASS STRIP !!! CAN YOU NAME ALL THE TUNES PLAYED?!?!?! . Please confirm.
First
Soprano Cornet > Piccolo
God bless America. I'm going back into Highschool and I can't wait to get a new Euphonium.
Fellow Euphonium player here! What model do you use??? I haven't played in a couple years, but back in my day, the Wilson was the best compensating professional model and I used a Schilke 51 D mouthpiece.
I'm looking to get back to playing, I played the Horrovitz Euphonium Concerto as one of my senior recital pieces! Awesome channel!!! Go Euphs!!!
Academy of Music in Philadelphia. May 14th 1897.

was this filmed before the pandemic?
FANTASTIC !!!!👌
Have you ever played the version where the Euph doubles the Piccolo solo?
And somewhere in there is a horn section that wants to stab themselves in the eyes. Off beats hurt everyone.
Oh, just found out the composer is John Philip Sousa! Thks for his talence for composing this beautiful music!👍👍👍
Dang my euph part had me jump from low f to high f at the beginning
It was almost 40 years ago. I belonged to a high school brass band club that is famous in Japan. I played this song in a friendly match with a high school basketball team in the United States, and all the band members were looking at each other as they performed in a weird way. And when I looked at the conductor's teacher, he was conducting with tears and excitement. The teacher said a word when the performance was over and when he pulled up. "Today's performance was one of the best in my life. Don't forget today's performance." Looking back now, I think it was the best performance in my life. Whenever I meet with the members of the time, this performance is a hot topic.
Amazing
One of the few songs the euphonium has a solo
Brass players... Still cool though
I need the sheet music now
Wow, I played this instrument in school and this was my favorite song. But I never played it this well!
Is it just me or does it sound like a trumpet is play the piccolo solo in the background??
This is a brass band. No woodwinds.
etshinn Thank you, I think the thing that threw me off is the snare drum
Dam yall tubas be going crazy
God bless John Phillip Sousa!! Also Euphoniums👍😂
Hey any tips to help you toungue faster
I want a Piccolo trumpet so much, even more so now just to learn that solo. I'm in euphoria.
Wow he's doing a cheating thing when she stops playing
Sounds amazing!!!!
Same version I play! I’ve been waiting for someone like you to post this version to play along with! Thank you! ❤️
......"be kind to your web-footed friend".....
best euph performance of the march i’ve heard
I never understood the euphonium part of this song.. it doesn't sounds like it belongs and is often times drowned out by the melody
Hear on live Or hear it with quality speaker or headphones u can understand why
I need that euphonium pdf

I play trombone for my school band and am decently good for my first year playing. I tried playing the euphonium some time a few months ago and now am considering properly choosing next year for the band class. My and a friend gave The Stars and Stripes Forever to our band teacher, hopefully I can play it next year with the band. Update!! (If anyone sees this) I now play baritone, and trumpet, along with trombone. My band teacher is considering letting me do the piccolo solo on either baritone or trumpet.
Lovely play!😘😘😘 May i know the composer's name of this beautiful music? Any one knows? Thks😍
That piccolo trumpet solo sounds get but nothing beats 2 piccolos trying to play in unison. Lol
My friend gave me this piece to learn because he needed a euphonium and this helps A LOT, thanks
I've always played tuba on this song, so it's nice seeing the euphonium part.
Hi friends! Hope you had a great start to your week. If not, well I hope this cheered you up :D You know the drill peeps: SMASH that like button, subscribe and SHARE SHARE SHARE!!! Thanks and happy upcoming 4th of July to my American friends and colleagues!
What's the difference between a baritone horn and a euphonium?

The conical tubing and sound wise when you hear it in a quality speaker or headphones

Why was the bass cless transposition listed as treble clef in the key of Bb instead of tenor clef?
I subscribed and turned on the bell 🔔
I usually watch this channel and forgot to subscribe so I did
First strain tuba part! Monstrous!
This a standard part played by baritones in High school bands across the USA.
...how's YOUR double-tonguing?
Is there anyway I can get sheet music for treble and bass? Btw great job man!
❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
The highest note I think was a high G so I could actually play this
Academy of music, Philadelphia in may 1897
I play the bass clarinet and the tuba
We played this last semester in my high school and it hurt my mouth so much I’m a tuba player
My primary instrument is the trumpet. However, I'm playing sousaphone for Marching band in fall, and I can also play euphonium/baritone. Baritone and tuba are very similar in terms of Bb trumpet since they both have like fingerings to trumpet. All very fun instruments
They definitely are similar as I play baritone
かなり練習しましたぁ〜
Good, now do that for 40 hours a day
I loved the. Euphonium ..! ❤️❤️👍
This is insane! I wish I could be as good as you. ❤
The way I always thought it should be played!
O. M. G. please god let me have the skill of these tubas.
How REFRESHING!!!!🥰
It was hit or miss for me if I could ever get that Ab at the end!
Nice Job
Incrível
I felt your annoyance at having to empty your slides and spit valves. Always the worst when it happens at the worst times. I love this song for Euphonium. It really shows the depth of sound that this instrument can add to an ensemble
Better than trombones having to make a conscious effort to do it.
Super!
Nice
Amazing job as always
I’m not a euphonium player I play trumpet and I was shook when I heard the piccolo solo being played by a trumpet.. 🤯
Also cool to hear the euphonium and baritone parts!
you COULD play it albeit treble clef......you'd love it!!!
@@michaelshelley1289 would absolutely love to! i’ve since fiddled with a euphonium but don’t have my own and am about to graduate, so i don’t even know where i’m going to be playing for the next few years! 😮
星条旗よ永遠なれ✨
such an iconic song
I love that you have Treble and Bass Clef because I’ve always played T.C
