Hit and miss is a little harsh. Chain of memories and birth by sleep got great ps3/4 ports and 358/2, coded and back cover got converted to movies so you don't even have to play them. The only disappointment in the series for me is dream drop distance. That one was pretty ass even on ps4.
@Slevin There aren't any spin-off games in the series. Just because they don't have a number slapped on to the title doesn't make them any less important to the story than KH1, 2 or 3.
Yeah Mickey's original KH voice actor passed away in 09. 358/2 Days was the last time he would portray the character. I think they could've picked a better impersonator. I hated it the 1st time I heard it 2.8.
This is an emotional moment for me. This is not just a game for me but a time capsule of a good portion of my life. From high school to adulthood to marriage to family. This game series has always come out at various points in my life and it makes me emotional. Apart from that it is also an amazing series and one I look forward to playing and revisiting many times in the future!
I remember back in 2005 I was in 3rd grade. My dad came home with a PS2 and three games, Tony Hawk Underground, FFX, and Kingdom Hearts. None of us knew what Kingdom hearts was or never even heard of it. Out of 5 siblings, I was the only one hooked on it. And it was the first ever game I have ever completed all the way through. What is funny, is that once I beat the game I actually started seeing commercials for Kingdom Hearts 2 and man oh man I can't tell you the amount of times I played Kh2. Just as you said before this game series has followed me through some of the highest and lowest points of my life, and here I am a senior in college who is only 2 days short of getting Kh3! It still baffles me that it is coming out, but I can not wait!!

Once we reached the point where we had dozens of versions of Sora, Riku, Xehanort and Kairi running around, journals and heartless were being digitized into mainframes, and the main villain was just casually time-travelling to bring multiple versions of himself into the present, the cup had runneth over.

The reason Mickey's va sounds different is because his original va passed away, RIP Mickey's VA. I felt that once I got used to Mickey's new voice, it was ok. Epic review man! Nice to see a positive review for a great game. Can't wait to play KH3 for myself someday soon.
I disagree with Johnny... If you know nothing about the previous games stay away from this one, you probably won't enjoy it. Is like watching Harry Potter XVII and the teenagers are talking about Horrorcruxes or something and you are like WTF are they talking about!? Just my opinion. Love the show!
I think there is a major difference in what makes the KH storyline inscrutable and what makes normal stories difficult to understand for newcomers who didn’t see previous versions. In my opinion it has to do with the way information is presented. Western storytelling is naturalistic and relies heavily on a belief that the situation you are watching is real. You are meant to feel as though you are spying on other people’s private events. This is based on western theatre culture. Japan, however, has its own theatre culture that heavily relies on Noh and Kabuki theatre traditions and story-telling concepts. This is mixed a little bit with western storytelling, these days. But the end result is that Japanese storytelling doesn’t feel bad about manipulating the reader without any justification story-wise. The story isn’t trying to convince you that it is real. This manifests intel in Kingdom Hearts where characters don’t come across information in realistic ways or piece together information in realistic ways. Characters will sometimes have spontaneous insight that comes out of nowhere. And if something is meant to be a secret, characters will avoid talking about it even when it only makes logical sense for them to do so. In short, Kingdom Hearts isn’t complaicated because it’s actually complicated, it’s complicated because it WANTS TO BE complicated.
You are so positive and enthusiastic in reviewing this game compared to other "reviewers". AND you really care about your viewers enough to not spoil a thing. Subbed

I spin down to the score to see a very general idea of quality and then I play the game regardless of what the review score was. I read the reviews after the fact and I've been very happy with this approach. No spoilers and I get my fill of impressions/reactions/interpretations and stuff afterwards
The game is great, you honestly can tell the EXTREME and I mean EXTREME amount of love from the Developers/Voice Actors. Everyone who helped made this game poured their love into the game and you can feel it while playing. This game will probably not win GOTY but my god the game is so cool and nostalgic. So smooth and plays so beautifully . Much love to everyone who made kingdom hearts 3, respect.

i think for the mickey mouse difference is because the actor who voiced everything died not too long ago, along with xehanort's japanese and english roles too. its a different person who does all the voice work for mickey now. he doesnt have that same bouncy voice no more but still recognise it is mickey., maybe in time he or she will come in to their own with the voice of mickey. its a massive role to fill to be honest.

Thanks for the great and (actual) spoiler-free review! Just to clarify something, in case someone didn't know , the reason Mickey doesn't sound like himself is because he isn't. Wayne Allwine, who voiced Mickey from 1977 to 2009 unfortunately died at the age of 62 in 2009. Rest in peace Mr. Allwine, you did an amazing job that none can 100% replicate. I think Bret Iwan is the one voicing Mickey in KH3 although i think it hasn't been confirmed yet . Embrace the change guys, it inevitably comes! 1 day before KH3 is in my arms, i can almost feel it :')
Sadly there are more. Literally 2 of the 8 worlds are just minigame/musical levels you spend all of 10 minutes in. Frozen world is a joke, the rapunzel world is a ff13 hallway and the 100 acre is the same as always. Heads up lol

Most large (and small too I suppose) gaming news sites seem to have a clause in the contract where they force their "writers" to, at the VERY LEAST, spoil shit in the headlines by making """vague""" comments before adding "HAHA, i'M nOt SpOiLInG AnYTHinG sO lOoK awAY nOw iF yOu DOn't WaNT tO bE SpOIlED hAhA" at the top of their article. Anyone who actually cares about the story of these games will recognise what they're talking about immediately. They've already begun writing articles about "hidden easter eggs and call-backs" that are basically plot points and the game isn't even out yet. I loved this video though, man. Looking forward to play it after all this time and I know I'm not alone.

I'm really looking forward to playing the game. My only complain is the lack of levels based on the older Disney movies:( I really wanted a The Sword in the Stone and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs levels!
The head developer said there might be dlc later but he doesn't want to make a season pass for the game in case the dlc doesn't happen. He also said any dlc won't be anything cosmetic since Sora already has costumes based on other certain worlds like Monsters Inc., Toy Story, Big Hero 6, and Pirates of The Caribbean
AND what's even worse, if you've played the other games and are aware of the worlds you go to in the first 2 games, sadly you only go to about 4 from the last games and 4 new ones. All of which have been shown so no surprises for anyone.

I never comment on any video, but I gotta say, as a true, heavily invested Kingdom Hearts fan, this was the best review I've seen of the bunch. And this was the first time I saw a video from you (this video just popped on the recommendation page) and I was very happy with what I saw and heard. Articulate, informative, down to earth on the matters of keeping the the game under wraps and not screwing us over with spoilerrs you nailed it! I've played every game in the series, and I still remember the time my parents bought me this game on the PS2. I wanted a tennis game and this showed up and I was very sad and left the game wrapped for a couple weeks. Dunno what happened but I picked it up and once I started I got pissed for waiting this long. Kingdom Hearts 2 was even crazier and loved every second of it. After all these years and having replayed them all on the PS4 and prepared myself for KH3 with the Platinum Trophy on the KH2.5. I just can't wait for this day to pass so I can dive into the new one. This series mean a lot to me. Thanks for keeping it real and letting your enthusiasm as a series fan come forth throughout the video.
Awesome man I appreciated your true no spoiler alert review. Too many videos use end game footage (ie RE2 reviews) and claim to be no spoilers but use footage of in game progression which sucks! Thanks for not doing that.
Big ups for no spoilers. I've been lucky not to have seen any since the leak and I still have to wait till I get home from work on Tuesday to play the game. 👍 Also, if you're a first time player, I don't think you should "just jump in" at the very least, watch some story summary, there's a few good ones here on TH-cam. But honestly, I highly recommend playing at least kh1, kh2, and Birth by Sleep.
Watch a couple of 30 minutes story explanations to get a couple of different takes on the storyline and then just play KH3 if you want. Better than not playing it at all if you don't want to go back to older games.

Kingdom Heart 2 is among my top 3 favorite PS2 game I've ever played. I've played it at a perfect time when I was going through anxiety struggles during my high school years. I was going through tough times and KH2 came out at a right time. It's a game that I will cherish as long as I live. Then afterwards I tried out the first game and at first I couldn't stand the first half of the game. It felt sloppily done, the combat system was rough, the platforming is janky and not much was going on story wise, but then I kept playing it. Somehow, I couldn't stop playing it even though there are so many questionable design choices that made me dislike the game. I couldn't put the controller down for some reason and when I beat it, I had such a pleasant feeling that made me feel I achieved something. I ended up loving the first game as much as the second one. I can see why so many are fond of the first game despite some flaws. The first game had a deeper sense of adventure in my opinion, while the sequel had a major emphasis on combat. The spin-offs are kind of hit or miss to me. I enjoyed the combat system of Chain of Memories but despised the dull level design. 358/2 Days is a nice midquel that ties the first two games and Chain of Memories narrative wise, but the game was kind of boring and repetitive. Re:Coded had a huge variety of gameplay, but felt like a filler. Birth By Sleep was a fun PSP game, but not really fond of floaty combat and not a fan that the game started the trend of retconing the series. I enjoyed Dream Drop Distance lot more than BBS gameplay wise because I might be the only one who finds Flowmotion as a fun and refreshing mechanic, but the narrative stinks with forced time travel plot device that harms the series for me. KH 0.2 I fully disliked. It felt like a sloppy tech demo for KH3. Didn't like the floaty simplistic combat with little to no cancelling, felt like an unresponsive button-mashing, it was dull to explore, the animation frames are drawn out and I hope it won't carry over in KH3 because I'd be disappointed. I'd probably wait on KH3 because, I don't have lot of money with me and need to buy a new HDD because I'm almost run out. And I bought two new game this month (AC7 and RE2) so KH3 will have to wait. But it did make me interested to check out later down the line. But for now, I have RPD to explore.
Tyler Wolff Well, it IS a great game. The story is shit, but the gameplay is pretty awesome. Just like Red Dead Redemption 2, you play it for the world, not for the laughably poorly written narrative and character personalities.

Basic summary of the series for people interested in getting into it: bad guys try to summon ultimate power called “kingdom hearts” by either obtaining a MASSIVE amount of other people’s hearts or making slightly convoluted plans to fulfill a prophecy that will bring kingdom hearts to them. Sora, the main character, and his friends go on a inter-universe journey to many Disney worlds and a few original worlds to meet up with famous Disney/final fantasy characters, defeat the bad guys, and talk about friendship and light.
My answer to the question "can i jump in kh3 and expect to understand the story not having played previous games" Dont count on it. Which is a polite way of saying hell no. KH has one of the most convoluted storylines ive seen, even around the basic "light vs dark" plot. If you jump in during 3rd game, youre gonna be totally lost. Of course if you dont really care about the overarching plot and just wanna see the disney worlds, go ahead. They work on their own and are gorgeous, except one which is way too short.
KH3 was mediocre at best, didn’t answer any questions at all only left us with more questions, Keyblade War was such a disappointment, the ending was crap, Black Box barely had relevance in this game, Disney Worlds dragged on far too long, loading time is crap, Sora feels so OP it gets boring after awhile, no secret/super bosses, easy as hell, bland voice acting, Keyblade weirders barely interact with one another (Ven and Roxas), and plenty more. A solid 6/10 for me. Such a disappointing game, glad I was never hyped for this game like any other die hard KH fan.
If you don't like it get out this channel or anything related to kingdom hearts go play your minecarft or make your own damn game because I don't see u trying so shut up boy :)
The gameplay looks good but... I don't hate Disney, but I do hate crazy crossovers. I like RPG's set in beautiful fantasy worlds where everything is carefully designed to create a land you can be drawn into and feels like a real place. But dropping in Goofy, Mickey Mouse, etc just ruins it for me. And not to sound like I'm picking on this game, I was going to buy Starlink for the Switch, until they announced they were putting Star Fox in it. The game has a bunch of alien races, but having the cutesy happy tree friends show up just seems really dumb. So I bought the PS4 version.
Ignored this series on PS2....but decided to take a plunge with KH3 because I wanted a fun and charming game that's full of Japanese and Squares design. Far too many serious games out there. I was blown away by this game. The production qualities are incredible. Audio is top class and the detail is staggering. Love the fighting system. Incredibly fun and varied. It kind of reminds me of Bayonetta crossed with God Of War 3 but with bright fun colours and no gore. It's just pure fun. I intended to spend an hour with it after work yesterday and was hooked for 4 hours. I was also not impressed with the Gummi Ship sections at first but it does grow with time. The variation in the games story and gameplay is staggering. Constantly refreshing and just plain fun. I don't care for Disney etc but put that to the side. It's great! I am a first time to part 3 and it's not been problematic. Watch the museum videos before playing...it helps with back story. It's like PS2 era again but with modern tech. Fun and exciting gameplay.
You said it man; I've been with the series since day 1, understand very little of the story but have stuck with it because it's Disney and the charm is undeniable. I've been waiting too long to let the convoluted nature temper my enjoyment of the game.
How does that actually work when you play games that are not released yet. Do people in your friendlist see that you are playing kh3 ? Do you have to be offline , Extra Account or can they just turn off via patch that it is visible to others
Nigga it's not complicated. It's just like playing a game normally. They probably play offline as not to risk being bothered by online friends and for descriptions sake. It's a normal copy of a game

I know why people reviewing games spoil them-it's hard to review specifics without doing so. Game reviews the past 15 years or so keep have gotten more and more vague (including this one) to not spoil story elements-so why review it at all if you can't speak to anything? I read a lot of music reviews and this isn't the case there-describing what is going on is very different from experiencing it. I would love it game reviews inched closer to book reviews in that those talk about plot points and characters early on but dance around listing specifics of plot points later on.
Kingdom Hearts 3 is a lot of things but accessible it is not. It is a game for fans and anyone who doesn´t do their homework is going to have a bad time. Buy the Story so far collection, start with the first one and play them in order for the optimal experience.
I know the gummi ship is always so below average, but to me it is so classic kingdom hearts and takes me back to all those years ago when I was a kid and i was playing it.

I love how excited you get, I do too because sometimes I just can't believe I live in a world with such incredible games and things! I've been playing DQ8 for the first time on 3DS! I'm about 12 hours in and absolutely loving it. I think it's going to become one of my favorite games.
What we got wasn't really worth a 13 year wait if you ask me, but as someone who has kept up with the handheld titles I'm happy enough with what we got after a 7 year wait. While I wish the first HD Kingdom Hearts had more meat to it and more balance to its combat, it's still a fun enough ride. I just hope we get critical mode in a free update at some point, otherwise I'm gonna have to get creative if I want a decent challenge in future playthroughs.
KH3 didn't start development until 2013 (Due to trying have to have Pixar worlds in the game.) and it was only delayed once, which was supposed to be in 2018, and isn't that big of a delay.
I beat kh2, never finished kh1, now onto kh3. Just preordered it. xD I don't care about the convoluted story. I still play kh games for different reasons.
you should start with is there any secret bosses? and im okay with all the bosses being secret i want that hellish difficulty with secret bosses filled with hints about why they are so good in killing sora and story
I am almost 67 and I have play KH and KH2. I just got the game today, but I will not play it, for I am currently playing Vesperia. I am glad you liked it so much, and I hope I do too.
So this my experience with Kingdom Hearts I rented Kingdom Hearts 1 and just wasn't impressed, i actually returned it. Then Kingdom Hearts 2 came out and i loved it. It was so much fun and while i never played 1 or the game inbetween i still got along fine with the game and still enjoyed the story. However that is where my Kingdom Hearts experience ends. I want to play 3 but so many games have come out in the mean time and story is always the most important thing to me so i think i will eventually get the game when a complete collection comes out or i can get all the games cheaper.
I think square put in a feature for new comers or people who haven’t followed the full story that explains what happened before but I still haven’t gotten it yet because I live in America so I think you can I’m not 100% sure tho
The only nitpick I have is when the voices don’t match the mouths. It doesn’t bother me that much though because I’ve waited 14 years for this game to come out since kingdom hearts 2, and I am so so so happy with this game so far. I’ve played 11 hours so far and I can’t wait to see all of the worlds. These are my favorite games of all time. Kingdom Hearts fan for life.

Strongly recommend you purchase the new rerelease that is 40 bucks. It has 1.5, 2.5, and 2.8. A great way to get a load of games. You get 6 games, and 2 recap and one movie. Definently worth 40 bucks.
I was 11 when the first game came out and I was mind blown, as a fan of both Disney and final fantasy at the time, my dad used to watch me play, sadly he offed himself when I was 17, 28 now so I'm glad to end an era. This is an emotional moment for me. This is not just a game for me but a time capsule of a good portion of my life. From high school to adulthood to marriage to family. This game series has always come out at various points in my life and it makes me emotional. Apart from that it is also an amazing series and one I look forward to playing and revisiting many times in the future!

I remember back in 2005 I was in 3rd grade. My dad came home with a PS2 and three games, Tony Hawk Underground, FFX, and Kingdom Hearts. None of us knew what Kingdom hearts was or never even heard of it. Out of 5 siblings, I was the only one hooked on it. And it was the first ever game I have ever completed all the way through. What is funny, is that once I beat the game I actually started seeing commercials for Kingdom Hearts 2 and man oh man I can't tell you the amount of times I played Kh2. Just as you said before this game series has followed me through some of the highest and lowest points of my life, and here I am a senior in college who is only 2 days short of getting Kh3! It still baffles me that it is coming out, but I can not wait!!

Once we reached the point where we had dozens of versions of Sora, Riku, Xehanort and Kairi running around, journals and heartless were being digitized into mainframes, and the main villain was just casually time-travelling to bring multiple versions of himself into the present, the cup had runneth over.
Nel_Annette it is a good thing I have a friend that is a KH expert. But the story is just not fun anymore.

I think there is a major difference in what makes the KH storyline inscrutable and what makes normal stories difficult to understand for newcomers who didn’t see previous versions.
In my opinion it has to do with the way information is presented. Western storytelling is naturalistic and relies heavily on a belief that the situation you are watching is real. You are meant to feel as though you are spying on other people’s private events. This is based on western theatre culture.
Japan, however, has its own theatre culture that heavily relies on Noh and Kabuki theatre traditions and story-telling concepts. This is mixed a little bit with western storytelling, these days. But the end result is that Japanese storytelling doesn’t feel bad about manipulating the reader without any justification story-wise. The story isn’t trying to convince you that it is real. This manifests intel in Kingdom Hearts where characters don’t come across information in realistic ways or piece together information in realistic ways. Characters will sometimes have spontaneous insight that comes out of nowhere. And if something is meant to be a secret, characters will avoid talking about it even when it only makes logical sense for them to do so.
In short, Kingdom Hearts isn’t complaicated because it’s actually complicated, it’s complicated because it WANTS TO BE complicated.
You are so positive and enthusiastic in reviewing this game compared to other "reviewers". AND you really care about your viewers enough to not spoil a thing. Subbed

I spin down to the score to see a very general idea of quality and then I play the game regardless of what the review score was. i think for the mickey mouse difference is because the actor who voiced everything died not too long ago, along with xehanort's japanese and english roles too. its a different person who does all the voice work for mickey now. he doesnt have that same bouncy voice no more but still recognise it is mickey., maybe in time he or she will come in to their own with the voice of mickey. its a massive role to fill to be honest.

Just to clarify something, in case someone didn't know , the reason Mickey doesn't sound like himself is because he isn't. Wayne Allwine, who voiced Mickey from 1977 to 2009 unfortunately died at the age of 62 in 2009. Rest in peace Mr. Allwine, you did an amazing job that none can 100% replicate.
I think Bret Iwan is the one voicing Mickey in KH3 although i think it hasn't been confirmed yet . Embrace the change guys, it inevitably comes!

Sadly there are more. Literally 2 of the 8 worlds are just minigame/musical levels you spend all of 10 minutes in. Frozen world is a joke, the rapunzel world is a ff13 hallway and the 100 acre is the same as always. Heads up lol

Most large (and small too I suppose) gaming news sites seem to have a clause in the contract where they force their "writers" to, at the VERY LEAST, spoil shit in the headlines by making """vague""" comments before adding "HAHA, i'M nOt SpOiLInG AnYTHinG sO lOoK awAY nOw iF yOu DOn't WaNT tO bE SpOIlED hAhA" at the top of their article. Anyone who actually cares about the story of these games will recognise what they're talking about immediately. They've already begun writing articles about "hidden easter eggs and call-backs" that are basically plot points and the game isn't even out yet. I loved this video though, man. Looking forward to play it after all this time and I know I'm not alone.

I'm really looking forward to playing the game. My only complain is the lack of levels based on the older Disney movies:( I really wanted a The Sword in the Stone and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs levels!
The head developer said there might be dlc later but he doesn't want to make a season pass for the game in case the dlc doesn't happen.
He also said any dlc won't be anything cosmetic since Sora already has costumes based on other certain worlds like Monsters Inc., Toy Story, Big Hero 6, and Pirates of The Caribbean

I never comment on any video, but I gotta say, as a true, heavily invested Kingdom Hearts fan, this was the best review I've seen of the bunch. And this was the first time I saw a video from you (this video just popped on the recommendation page) and I was very happy with what I saw and heard. Articulate, informative, down to earth on the matters of keeping the the game under wraps and not screwing us over with spoilerrs you nailed it!
I've played every game in the series, and I still remember the time my parents bought me this game on the PS2. I wanted a tennis game and this showed up and I was very sad and left the game wrapped for a couple weeks. Dunno what happened but I picked it up and once I started I got pissed for waiting this long. Kingdom Hearts 2 was even crazier and loved every second of it.
After all these years and having replayed them all on the PS4 and prepared myself for KH3 with the Platinum Trophy on the KH2.5. I just can't wait for this day to pass so I can dive into the new one.
This series mean a lot to me.

I've been lucky not to have seen any since the leak and I still have to wait till I get home from work on Tuesday to play the game. 👍 Also, if you're a first time player, I don't think you should "just jump in" at the very least, watch some story summary, there's a few good ones here on TH-cam. But honestly, I highly recommend playing at least kh1, kh2, and Birth by Sleep.

Watch a couple of 30 minutes story explanations to get a couple of different takes on the storyline and then just play KH3 if you want. Better than not playing it at all if you don't want to go back to older games.

Watch a few playthrough of the two previous main games, not all the spin offs, and watch some cutscenes before getting into this. Give it a few hours of viewing, then decide ^~^ BACKSTORY COUNTS!
Kingdom Heart 2 is among my top 3 favorite PS2 game I've ever played. I've played it at a perfect time when I was going through anxiety struggles during my high school years. I was going through tough times and KH2 came out at a right time. It's a game that I will cherish as long as I live.
Then afterwards I tried out the first game and at first I couldn't stand the first half of the game. It felt sloppily done, the combat system was rough, the platforming is janky and not much was going on story wise, but then I kept playing it. Somehow, I couldn't stop playing it even though there are so many questionable design choices that made me dislike the game. I couldn't put the controller down for some reason and when I beat it, I had such a pleasant feeling that made me feel I achieved something. I ended up loving the first game as much as the second one.
I can see why so many are fond of the first game despite some flaws. The first game had a deeper sense of adventure in my opinion, while the sequel had a major emphasis on combat.
The spin-offs are kind of hit or miss to me. I enjoyed the combat system of Chain of Memories but despised the dull level design. 358/2 Days is a nice midquel that ties the first two games and Chain of Memories narrative wise, but the game was kind of boring and repetitive. Re:Coded had a huge variety of gameplay, but felt like a filler. Birth By Sleep was a fun PSP game, but not really fond of floaty combat and not a fan that the game started the trend of retconing the series. I enjoyed Dream Drop Distance lot more than BBS gameplay wise because I might be the only one who finds Flowmotion as a fun and refreshing mechanic, but the narrative stinks with forced time travel plot device that harms the series for me.
KH 0.2 I fully disliked. It felt like a sloppy tech demo for KH3. Didn't like the floaty simplistic combat with little to no cancelling, felt like an unresponsive button-mashing, it was dull to explore, the animation frames are drawn out and I hope it won't carry over in KH3 because I'd be disappointed.
I'd probably wait on KH3 because, I don't have lot of money with me and need to buy a new HDD because I'm almost run out. And I bought two new game this month (AC7 and RE2) so KH3 will have to wait. But it did make me interested to check out later down the line. But for now, I have RPD to explore.

Tyler Wolff Well, it IS a great game. The story is shit, but the gameplay is pretty awesome. Just like Red Dead Redemption 2, you play it for the world, not for the laughably poorly written narrative and character personalities.

I'll never forget what it was like finding out what the next world in the oringal kingdom hearts games was gonna be and i can't wait to have that feeling again.

Basic summary of the series for people interested in getting into it: bad guys try to summon ultimate power called “kingdom hearts” by either obtaining a MASSIVE amount of other people’s hearts or making slightly convoluted plans to fulfill a prophecy that will bring kingdom hearts to them. Sora, the main character, and his friends go on a inter-universe journey to many Disney worlds and a few original worlds to meet up with famous Disney/final fantasy characters, defeat the bad guys, and talk about friendship and light.

Dont count on it. Which is a polite way of saying hell no. KH has one of the most convoluted storylines ive seen, even around the basic "light vs dark" plot. If you jump in during 3rd game, youre gonna be totally lost.
Of course if you dont really care about the overarching plot and just wanna see the disney worlds, go ahead. They work on their own and are gorgeous, except one which is way too short.
KH3 was mediocre at best, didn’t answer any questions at all only left us with more questions, Keyblade War was such a disappointment, the ending was crap, Black Box barely had relevance in this game, Disney Worlds dragged on far too long, loading time is crap, Sora feels so OP it gets boring after awhile, no secret/super bosses, easy as hell, bland voice acting, Keyblade weirders barely interact with one another (Ven and Roxas), and plenty more. A solid 6/10 for me. Such a disappointing game, glad I was never hyped for this game like any other die hard KH fan.
If you don't like it get out this channel or anything related to kingdom hearts go play your minecarft or make your own damn game because I don't see u trying so shut up boy :)

The gameplay looks good but... I don't hate Disney, but I do hate crazy crossovers. I like RPG's set in beautiful fantasy worlds where everything is carefully designed to create a land you can be drawn into and feels like a real place. But dropping in Goofy, Mickey Mouse, etc just ruins it for me. And not to sound like I'm picking on this game, I was going to buy Starlink for the Switch, until they announced they were putting Star Fox in it. The game has a bunch of alien races, but having the cutesy happy tree friends show up just seems really dumb. So I bought the PS4 version.
Ignored this series on PS2....but decided to take a plunge with KH3 because I wanted a fun and charming game that's full of Japanese and Squares design. Far too many serious games out there.
I was blown away by this game. The production qualities are incredible. Audio is top class and the detail is staggering.
Love the fighting system. Incredibly fun and varied. It kind of reminds me of Bayonetta crossed with God Of War 3 but with bright fun colours and no gore. It's just pure fun.
I intended to spend an hour with it after work yesterday and was hooked for 4 hours.
I was also not impressed with the Gummi Ship sections at first but it does grow with time.
The variation in the games story and gameplay is staggering. Constantly refreshing and just plain fun.
I don't care for Disney etc but put that to the side. It's great! I am a first time to part 3 and it's not been problematic. Watch the museum videos before playing...it helps with back story.
It's like PS2 era again but with modern tech. Fun and exciting gameplay.

How does that actually work when you play games that are not released yet. Do people in your friendlist see that you are playing kh3 ? Do you have to be offline , Extra Account or can they just turn off via patch that it is visible to others

I know why people reviewing games spoil them-it's hard to review specifics without doing so. Game reviews the past 15 years or so keep have gotten more and more vague (including this one) to not spoil story elements-so why review it at all if you can't speak to anything? I read a lot of music reviews and this isn't the case there-describing what is going on is very different from experiencing it. I would love it game reviews inched closer to book reviews in that those talk about plot points and characters early on but dance around listing specifics of plot points later on.
He really just rambles on an says nothing about the game. That's a pretty big fail as for a review.
Kingdom Hearts 3 is a lot of things but accessible it is not. It is a game for fans and anyone who doesn´t do their homework is going to have a bad time.
Buy the Story so far collection, start with the first one and play them in order for the optimal experience.

I love how excited you get, I do too because sometimes I just can't believe I live in a world with such incredible games and things! I've been playing DQ8 for the first time on 3DS! I'm about 12 hours in and absolutely loving it. I think it's going to become one of my favorite games.

What we got wasn't really worth a 13 year wait if you ask me, but as someone who has kept up with the handheld titles I'm happy enough with what we got after a 7 year wait. While I wish the first HD Kingdom Hearts had more meat to it and more balance to its combat, it's still a fun enough ride. I just hope we get critical mode in a free update at some point, otherwise I'm gonna have to get creative if I want a decent challenge in future playthroughs.
13 years in the making. To be honest, I feel off the series with the multiple delays of the 2nd game. But I did like birth by sleep a lot.

KH3 didn't start development until 2013 (Due to trying have to have Pixar worlds in the game.) and it was only delayed once, which was supposed to be in 2018, and isn't that big of a delay.
I beat kh2, never finished kh1, now onto kh3. Just preordered it. xD
I don't care about the convoluted story. I still play kh games for different reasons.
you should start with is there any secret bosses? and im okay with all the bosses being secret i want that hellish difficulty with secret bosses filled with hints about why they are so good in killing sora and story
I am almost 67 and I have play KH and KH2. I just got the game today, but I will not play it, for I am currently playing Vesperia. I am glad you liked it so much, and I hope I do too.
So this my experience with Kingdom Hearts
I rented Kingdom Hearts 1 and just wasn't impressed, i actually returned it.
Then Kingdom Hearts 2 came out and i loved it. It was so much fun and while i never played 1 or the game inbetween i still got along fine with the game and still enjoyed the story. However that is where my Kingdom Hearts experience ends.
I want to play 3 but so many games have come out in the mean time and story is always the most important thing to me so i think i will eventually get the game when a complete collection comes out or i can get all the games cheaper.
Get the story so far and kh3 and your caught up 😀 this closes all the story up to now and sets up a good future for new things.
i think most people return games when they rent them though.

I think square put in a feature for new comers or people who haven’t followed the full story that explains what happened before but I still haven’t gotten it yet because I live in America so I think you can I’m not 100% sure tho
@@Acidima Yeah I think there is a story so far but from my experience it's better to experience as much of the story as possible.
The only nitpick I have is when the voices don’t match the mouths. It doesn’t bother me that much though because I’ve waited 14 years for this game to come out since kingdom hearts 2, and I am so so so happy with this game so far. I’ve played 11 hours so far and I can’t wait to see all of the worlds. These are my favorite games of all time. Kingdom Hearts fan for life.

been playing this whole week and this game is seriously breathtaking, BUT some of the game mechanics/controls really take you out of the flow. either that or im getting too old for complex stuff in video games lol
Yeah. Mostly the Attraction flows(Disney Rides) and cutscenes(Which can be toggled of for the keyblade transformations)
Strongly recommend you purchase the new rerelease that is 40 bucks. It has 1.5, 2.5, and 2.8. A great way to get a load of games. You get 6 games, and 2 recap and one movie. Definently worth 40 bucks.

I was 11 when the first game came out and I was mind blown, as a fan of both Disney and final fantasy at the time, my dad used to watch me play, sadly he offed himself when I was 17, 28 now so I'm glad to end an era. Maybe now I can grow up, oh look next gen is on the horizon, I'll grow up in ten more years. Lol

Yeah... hated gummy shit. I don't understand why it's even there. During ps2 era , I had to turn off the game during gummy shit, because it totally shit on my mood to continue on.
You do know that the voice actor who did the voice for Mickey died between KH2 and KH3 in real life, right? That's one reason why it sounds differently. Hard to be upset about. What are you going to tell the guy, don't die? Overall, good review though and love your enthusiasm.
