  • Today we remove the engine from this Nissan Micra CR12DE 1.2 Petrol to replace the timing chain which has stretched and is starting to rattle!

    I take my hat off to you Max ! Absolute pig of a job and a pity because it's the only way to do the job properly.I understand that garages can charge up to 10 hours for labour ! I like these cars but I would be reluctant to buy one with high mileage because of this common issue. I look forward to the next episode.A great demo for someone willing to take the job on and save some money.

      Hey Mark, it took me four hours to remove the engine, it took me six hours to dismantle the engine, fit the new timing chain and then reassemble the engine and it will likely take me another six hours to refit everything, get all the fluids right and take it for an extensive test drive

      My 05' Micra's just hit 182k Milles and still no rattles smoke or bad noises ! Having full Synthetic Oil as required helps these CR12DE engines as the wrong oil makes em sound so different !

      I cant remember now sorry, i think there is an eyelet above the gearbox and then i just bolt the other side to the engine by using an existing bolthole from the upper engine mounting cast plate…

      I dont do engine swaps really unless its like for like but thanks for the offer
