Thank you for the video I've worked instructions for 20 Don't know nothing about Just what I see You made it Crystal clear explained everything Again I thank you
I'm tackling removing old metal and cast iron plumbing for two sinks and two toilets. Plumbing seems to be putting puzzle pieces together and using gravity to make it all work. Fun stuff. This video was exactly what I needed as a DIYer. Thanks so much!
Great! This was so helpful. While I am familiar with a lot already, you gave that extra detail on how to id the size, differences in elbow, and the markings on the pipe. I will see what else you have bcs you were not patronizing and made it easy to listen and understand.
very well replicating most people think that is how the water goes away but when it is covered it has to have the correct fittings otherwise they are in trouble
For a newbie diyer like me, this is one of the best informative videos I've ever seen. Thank you. Wish I would've seen this a year ago when it came out.
Thanks for this video! I have my first day as an apprentice tomorrow working on commercial renovations, won't be dealing with pvc but seeing the fittings and having them explained helps a lot!
Great education. I'll be building a house myself for the first time ever on 30 acres I just purchased and having this resource is definitely invaluable. Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing this information it will help me when I need to do a pvc job in my yard I never could figure out what those letters and numbers were until now! Thank you !😀
You made the comment about inspectors like to see the purple primer because they can look up and see it. I have always been against purple primer just for that fact. It makes an inspector lazy and gives a false sense of a good and completed job when that is just not so. They need to do their job and physically inspect the work. Just because it has purple primer does not mean a convection was not missed with glue. So the purple primer does no good if the joint is not welded. Or if it was not pushed all the way in to make a good connection. This is a reason why the inspector is their. Will they see or find every mistake no. But using purple primer just makes them more lazy and gives a very false positive. They also now make all in one primer and glue that is clear this is what we use it’s cheaper and saves time and space with one product. With this said you and the video is great thanks.
Same here in Albuquerque you will fail inspection if you can't see the purple primer. I would only use tape when im doing vertical joints but lately it seems like I've been making a mess trying to hurry when doing service work and not able to lean the pipe down. maybe I'll try the the tape for vertical joints as well. Thanks.
Purple primer doesn't make us lazy. Driving to 15-20 inspections a day with some to most plumbers laying sanitees on its back, not shading drains and strapping every nine feet makes us lazy
Great video, Thank You! The only question I have is because you commented on some of the fittings they can only be installed Vertically, not Horizontally. But, you didn't mention which ones could be installed Horizontally. I would appreciate a clarification as to which fittings can be used in which orientation. Thank you!
am doing some at newlo and right now we are on the subject of fittings so i just came to check them out and how they are used, thanks for showing me such info
Good information. All the configurations for the DWV can get really confusing. This is helpful. On a side note: It appears that my local Home Depot no longer sells PVC pipes. My instructor had to purchase ABS pipes. I was told that they are trying to ban plastic pipes. Anyone hear anything similar.
Pvc was getting phased out as far food packing . because it's a "hard to recycle" plastic. But, I haven't heard anything about pipe. we still get a truck load of it every week here in SC. States and Countys have different rules. They may have outlawed it in your area.
Very interesting video calm voice, good tone, organized and informative. Is it possible to install pvc pipe backwards (drainage running away from sewer line). Why would there be orange primer used at ends of fitting. I have issue of washer machine draining into bathtub which no one can fit. The company "Just Plumbing" replaced old piping with pvc. Problem still continue so called a different plumbing company who claim pvc was installed backwards and wrong primer was used. So I went into crawl space and saw job for myself. So now with your video I'll be able to identify what was used but how are you able to tell which way is the flow going. Of course the first company will not honor this issue. So $ is on me.
Very good info. I have a 3" sewage main runs around my basement wall and flow outside. I plan to install a water softener in my basement and connect the softener drain hose to it. Can I use a 3"x3"x2" Y Tee (horizontal) with a 2" P trap, then connect to a 36" standpipe? You mentioned in the video the Y Tee only use in vertical. Thanks.
Thank you, I love your whole series of videos. You didn't explicitly say it, but may I infer that the sanitary tees are for directing drainwater from horizontal to vertical, while the Wye+street combo is for directing it from vertical to horizontal?
You said not to used the double Y with 2” Y s to lay down. Right now the plumbing in my son house, they used cast iron double Y with 2” Y s , the lay them down coming from the bathtub and kitchen sink and goes to the stack. So what fittings do I use
This was awesome! In my plumbing foundation course this week we have a fittings quiz and the point is to be able to identify them as they would be ordered. It's certainly a lot to wrap my head around... for this kind of piping when you order you would start with the sizes, then state the material, the thread or connection type, then fitting shape, right? For instance a 3" pvc cell core 90 degree ell? So useful to hear what order the size difference goes in. Bottom, top, side! Thanks :)
Thank you for taking the time to produce such an informative, helpful, and well-presented educational on DWV & fittings. This really is incredible. You have done a fantastic job. I am disappointed that I am the first commenter on here.
I bought a 90 vented to replace some pool pipe without knowing what “vented” was. I didn’t see any vents so I used it. It’s still drying. Will it leak when I turn on the pool pump to circulate the water?
Awesome video. I'm sure I will use the wrong terminology. I need a type of PVC schedule 40 reducing coupler. On the three inch side it will receive the 3" pipe (female). On the 2-inch side it needs to be the male because it will go into something that receives 2" PVC. Does this exist? Thank you.
we would call it a 3-inch slip by a 2-inch male. they make it but where can you find it I have no clue. you can get a three-inch coupling, a 3x2 bushing, a 2-inch male and make it.
would you use a 4 in. PVC DWV Repair Coupling (slip coupling) to connect new plumbing into an existing underground horizontal 4inch pvc drain pipe that has no movement?
Can you make holes for a 3 inch toilet waste line in a 2x8 joist? How do you pass this pipe from a second floor to a basement through the 2x4 top plates of wall tops?
I'm in a situation where I have a copper pipe stub out under a bathroom sink and I want to know what transition fitting I can use to go from copper to pvc. The copper coming from the wall has threads on it
I'm a new project manager for a major plumbing/repipe company and this is exactly what I needed to know. Thanks for the valuable info!
Best educational drain video on the internet.
Holy crap! I'm watching this on that first 3" pipe's birthday! Happy birthday, little tube.
Happy birthday! haha Little tube! Fun thanks.
Thank you for recording and posting this valuable educational video.
Thank you for the video
I've worked instructions for 20
Don't know nothing about
Just what I see
You made it Crystal clear explained everything
Again I thank you

Thank you... I try to keep it simple and I'm not trying to sell you any thing..
This guy is really good.
I got impressed by his vast knowledge.
Thanks for take of your time and sharing your knowledge with us.
Thank you for this video. I have a class that starts in a couple weeks. I hope I can succeed in the plumbing industry.

Amazed all questions answered.TY. Call this a plumbing project/ Jump Start Video.
Nice over view of all the different fitting types. Good discussion on how a Sanitary T can only be used on a Vertical drop. Thanks.
Great education. I'll be building a house myself for the first time ever on 30 acres I just purchased and having this resource is definitely invaluable. Thank you so much!
I will like work with you
Updates? How did the build go? Any supply chain issues?
Update?
Love the video!
One thing that I found in your video is it is very detailed with info and ultimate graphics. Thanks!!
Great video - very clear and well explained. It's especially helpful that you explain why and not just what.
Things you need to know and nothing that you don't need... for a DIY guy. Excellente' 👌
Thank you for sharing this information it will help me when I need to do a pvc job in my yard I never could figure out what those letters and numbers were until now! Thank you !😀
I watched your entire video... but it was the best one I watched out of many. I learned alot from you despite a year of field work. Thanks
Awesome teacher. Makes learning easy
Thank you for taking the time to do this. Even as an overview, it definitely helps!
Thanks so much Bryan for a video so packed with info. My supplier is going to think I'm a plumber now instead of some old guy DIYer.
Glad to help
Excellent review. Covered every topic I needed. Very thorough explanation.
Excellent presentation sir! I’m just a homeowner and I must say I got a ton of good info here. Thanks! subscribed
this video is so amazing , and explained many concepts clearly. love this one!
Thank you so much for going over all of that. I really enjoyed being able to follow along with the transcript. It made my taking notes easier.
No bushings. Great video! Thanks!

I was just looking at our township plumbing code. It specifically states purple primer must be used. The code was last updated in 2006. 😮
@j.p.6675 I'm from burque aswell fancy seeing you here lol
@@busterhikney6936 Along with missing cleanouts and nail plates.

Perfect instructional video, exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
Thanks to this video I finally understand these 😅 just reading the NCCER and UPC wasn't helpful for my brain
Awesome breakdown of information. Much appreciated!
am doing some at newlo and right now we are on the subject of fittings so i just came to check them out and how they are used, thanks for showing me such info
I think I know half of the items but I need more ideas, This Video will help me, Ahm pls can you set questions too for us.
the best teacher ever
Thank you
Awesome video. Would be great to add TH-cam's *video chapters* feature, allowing us to jump to specific parts of your video.

Great explanation on the materials. You mentioned that a 3x2x2 Y couldn’t by laid flat so you switched to a 3x2 Y….why??
Excellent vid. Thanks! Keep up the great vids. More vids on working with Copper, Pex, & PVC is appreciated.
Great video man! I’m About to get back into plumbing and definitely needed to be refreshed on the drain fittings!
Can you please do more plumbing materials of fittings and all.
Thank you, I love your whole series of videos. You didn't explicitly say it, but may I infer that the sanitary tees are for directing drainwater from horizontal to vertical, while the Wye+street combo is for directing it from vertical to horizontal?
This always nicely watching from Zambia
Thanks for the great explanation of all the different fittings!
I definitely thank you for this very information. It helps me a lot !!!
In WA double fixture tee should be used instead of the “cross” 😎 Nice video 👍🏻
Great educational plumbing videos for newbies like me....
good job. just getting started on learning for my house, this really helps.

This was great information!!! Thank you so much. You have a talent in teaching!
One thing I was looking for is what do you use to connect two mains together both horizontal I’m coming in at a 45.
When stubbing out for a sink 1-1/2" pipe use a long sweep or 90 elbow to connect p- trap?
Thank you for the video. Very clear.
Thank you very much. You mean that this white pipe can’t use for cement underground?
This was great. Very helpful info. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Excellent video and well presented!
Good metiriyal s Good Qualities
Great video! A lot to take in. Thank you.
Great video. Been looking for this exact video thanks

Fantastic explanations/lesson!
Thank you for your great and clear explanation It helps me a lot God bless you
Is it ok to use a sanitary tee with the "swept" end on top just to feed water from a tumble dryer to a horizontal drain pipe?
Really useful, thank you!
Thank you I love this video this was a really good video I like this one thank you I like to do plumbing and learning about the different fittings.
Thank you.

would you use a 4 in. PVC DWV Repair Coupling (slip coupling) to connect new plumbing into an existing underground horizontal 4inch pvc drain pipe that has no movement?
I love this video, good one man, this is the best video I've seen so far. I've learned a lot in less than a hour. You can be my main teacher man.
Are you allowed to use a sanitary reducing (4x4x3) tee in the main stack to connect a wall-hung toilet?
I don't see why not..
Thanks . This was very helpful.
Thank you so much for your helpful video this was awesome
Hi, in a ROW the city says 4" PVC to the SS Main. At my house I have 3" ABS for the lateral SD. What now lol? Great vid by the way.
Can you make holes for a 3 inch toilet waste line in a 2x8 joist? How do you pass this pipe from a second floor to a basement through the 2x4 top plates of wall tops?
A 3 inch pipe will go in a 2x4 wall (you got to be dead on the money) but, not the hub on the fitting.
Learned heaps thank you
I'm in a situation where I have a copper pipe stub out under a bathroom sink and I want to know what transition fitting I can use to go from copper to pvc. The copper coming from the wall has threads on it
SharkBite would be the easiest or a female pvc fitting of the right size.
Awesome I learned a lot perfectly done, thank you
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! I am finally getting the big picture!
!!! Such a great information 🎉
Thank you
This was very helpful.. Thank you!
Thank you for the information ℹ️
Good one. Very informative. Thanks
Great video! Thanks so much!
great video . Thanks
what kind of connections would you use when connecting another pipe into your main line that you can not move like a sewer pipe going into the tank
we call them ferncos or a on hub band. they're rubber and flexible.
Wow that was awesome! Thank you!
Thank so much for this information
Instantly subbed. Super informative.
Excellent presentation.
Does a 1.5" STRAIGHT Street fitting exist? ie) It has only one hub but it extends out STRAIGHT (no 45 degree or 90 degree bend, etc) THANKS!
I don't think so. I have never seen one
