I highly recommend CV Source. They rebuilt CV axles for my W123. I had them shipped from Canada and picked them up near border. It took more effort to organize all this but it was worth.
Many thanks also for the video on the sender unit, I used it to clean the one on my slc. Re the axles, I inverted a puller and used it as a pusher to get the axles out. Be well and thanks for all your great videos and keeping the old benzes on the Autobahn.@@woodsandbarclay
Got my axles back from CV source. Great job , they look fantastic and could not have been more pleasant and professional to deal with. Highly recommend them. Be well and thanks again.

I'm really trying to drive more business to these guys because they really are the best in the country at what they do. A lot of people are buying the cheap Chinese aftermarket axles and restoring The originals is way better.
@@woodsandbarclay Any good American company or European company make these axles? Also if the car is driving fine but has cracked boots can't you just put new boots on or you really need to inspect the area better to see if you need a rebuild even though the car is driving fine?
@@sonofprince4124 if your boots are cracked then that means the oil has already drained out and your axles will be destroyed very soon. Even if your boots aren't cracked to drain all the oil out you still need to have these inspected. Normal wear happens on the axles in the wiess joint. I've taken perfectly good looking axles to see the source and they've opened them up and had severe wear that had to be repaired. No there are no good companies reproducing the original axles. The best option is to have your original axles restored or buy a set of used axles and have them restored
@@woodsandbarclay Very informative John! Do you think those listed New on PartsGeek, Autohauz, FCP Euro would last even 25K - 50K miles? I guess the original Mercedes axles rebuilt should last 100K miles or more?
@@sonofprince4124 I do not know how long the boots or axles would last on the aftermarket ones sold on those websites. I will not order them and I have never ordered them. Original axles can last hundreds of thousands of miles after being rebuilt.
Sorry for the ignorance…I’m brand new to vintage Mercedes, having purchased my first W123 a few months back. What needs done on the axles exactly, and how do you know you’re at that point of needing this service?
Well just remember the boots on your axles are 40 years old so who knows how much longer they're going to last before they get a small crack or tear and start leaking all the oil out. Once all the oil leaks out it won't be long before you completely destroy the axle. That boot is filled with oil from the factory. The oil Lubricates the wiess joint with those Chrome balls that move back and forth. If your boots are in excellent condition that I think you're fine and you don't need to do anything. However if you inspect the boots and you see some small cracking starting I would go ahead and just take care of it. If you don't take care of it and wait till they leak all the grease out then it will cause further damage to the wiess joint and the repairs will be more expensive than just having to reboot the axles.

Great company that I have used for years.
😎
Awesome great video.
So glad you're enjoying the videos
Even though I live in California, I could not find anyone willing/able to do the job so injustice sent my 107 axles to CV source earlier this week.
Smart move!

Great info. Thank you. I’ll discuss with the mechanic who has been helping me here in Ohio.
cool guy!
John is great. He's a master at his craft!
