Excellent video! I have a 69 and want to convert to try and help with fuel vaperlocking . I was going external but now I need to rethink because of the noise.
I highly recommend skipping the external pump and go straight to the in-tank pump. It is fairly easy to do and definitely worth it. I didn't think it would make that much difference noise wise, but it really does.
It always makes me nervous when I see someone working under a car, especially when it's my brother. It amazes me how much you know about all that stuff and how good you are at it. Nice video 👍 P.S. I know a little something about cars, I can fill my gas tank and go get my oil changed, lol 😅 sis!
I always use jack stands when I work under a vehicle. I leave the jack under too as added protection. I remember when I was young a friend of Dad's was a mechanic. He was working under a car without jack stands when the jack slipped and trapped him under the car. He was killed. I always think of him before I get under a car. you can't be too careful. Thanks for the kind words.
Great Video! I have a Gen 6 489 BBC with no mech fuel pump provision. Wonder if this will work in my '76 C3 tank? My tanks has a stupid rubber bladder in it and I see yours dont. I read the in tank pump is the only way to go..
No, you do not have to have a baffled tank. The hydro mat that attaches to the end of the fuel pick up tube on the pump keeps the pump from cavitating. The mat works as a prefilter too.
the lack of needing the external regulator was the big plus for me. did you consider putting that fuel filter just before the sniper so the gas is filtered just before it enters it?

I'm not sure this would work in a tank with a bladder. An in-tank pump is definitely the way to go. They are so much quieter.
@@timewiththedurbins Ill research. thx!
Hi Mark do I need to have a baffled gas tank for the submersible fuel pump to work without running dry ?
I have a 1973 corvette..

I have the post filter mounted on the frame rail by the motor. It's as close to the Sniper as possible.
