I would be furious. That is such a stupid mistake. A good quality gasket isn't expensive. I love that part where you started the car to get the distributor to drop down!! Awesome.

What was the symptoms I have a 2005 5.3 rebuilt I changed the fuel pump. Checked the injectors all good put new plugs and wires and the damm engine has a rough idle sometimes smooth then stumble at idle not to bad give it gas smoothens out but feels like the power is 70 percent then what I think it should be do u think it’s timing and can I check timing by putting the piston top dead center and remove the valve cover to see if the valves are closed or do I have to remove the timing cover just frustrating having these issues after spending money to have it running 100 percent I love the corvette 💯

Taking the steering column out makes it much easier. The column is very easy to remove and replace.

Not sure if my sbc has 70K or 170K. I do wanna swap out the heads but I am in your predicament as it does burn a bit of oil. Hopefully from the valve seals (Oring type) . Decided I'll just run it into the ground until a blown head gasket or way to much oil burning before I do anything. Good info on the lifter rods as Jegs didn't tell me about the .100 extra or the new plugs needed. Already have EZ efi on the engine. It was the best thing I've done to the vehicle. Driveability is amazing.

Hello I hope you still respond because I have a urgent question. I just first time disassembled my engine like your's in the video and I wanted to ask, how does it work when you tighten the nut back on holding the rocker arm? I am new to all this, and I am constantly thinking the engine oil will loosen it up. My rocker arm is held in place by a nut on top, and some halfround thing with a flat surface, where the nut comes on top of it. I hope you understand what I mean, like is there no security or threadlock needed for the rocker arm installation? 😅 I'd be glad to hear from you 😄

The two relays at the front, they each control one headlight door. GM had just one there once and changed to two, we think it was so that if one fails you still have one headlight door working. To bypass one and use the other for both is really not "wrong", just not the OE setup. Other than the high cost, it makes sense to convert these to motor actuators, then eliminate all this vac hose stuff

I just rebuilt my 71 the original screws for the grill are 8/32 fillister philips. Mine were. Stripped so I used helicoils.

Great Video! I have a Gen 6 489 BBC with no mech fuel pump provision. Wonder if this will work in my '76 C3 tank? My tanks has a stupid rubber bladder in it and I see yours dont. I read the in tank pump is the only way to go..

I had the same issue some years back. The engine had a distinct misfire at idle but no symptom at cruise speed. I tracked down the leak by measuring the temperature of each exhaust port using an IR thermometer pointed at each header tube near the cylinder head. Normal temp was around 720°F and the "bad" cylinders read close to 350°. When I pulled off the intake, I saw this: drive.google.com/file/d/1fWTPhUkCrfsRicyXEjhUEVc9XGk94KSv/view?usp=drive_link (link to photo) The engine was assembled by an established "professional" who put the failure on FelPro providing a faulty product. FelPro blamed the builder for faulty installation. As you can imagine, the builder disagreed with FelPro yet offered to make it right. I ended up re-doing the job myself using FelPro steel core gaskets which the builder paid for. I used gasgacinch on the large gasket mating surfaces, smeared a thin film of Permatex water pump & thermostat housing gasket maker (designed to be impervious to glycol coolants, unlike regular RTV) around the water ports, and smeared a thin film of Permatex motoseal gasket maker (designed to be impervious to fuel, unlike regular RTV) around the intake ports. I set the FelPro steel core intake gaskets in place then set the intake manifold in place. I tightened the intake manifold bolts in sequence but did NOT torque them to spec, only snugged them down. I let that set for 24-hours so everything would have plenty of time to fully cure. I removed the intake manifold, then meticulously removed and cleaned away any squeeze-out, ooze and runs. I used RTV in place of the end-seals, set the intake manifold in place, bolted it on in sequence to spec then let that sit overnight. I then double checked bolt torque, bolted everything else together, topped it off with my Q-J, ran it for a week to and from work, then re-checked the torque again. No leaks.

This has been repaired before. You can see the difference between that part and the rest of the hood. I got the same thing on mine.

Were the wipers vacuum or electric from the factory? Not the wiper door.

Nice job! I thought you forgot the key on the reassembly, it just wasn’t on video. I did get a little nervous when you were working on slowing the chuck down with your hand, I’ve seen to many ring fingers disappear. Not many people have all the skills you do, how do you keep your friends, neighbors etc. from doing their work? Sure enjoyed the video, also thats a nice shiny red vette in the background!

I just built a brand new engine and I have a vacuum leak around my intake in my throttle body and I just I wish I had somebody like yourself to help me I'm tired of doing things by myself but great video

Pretty sure those blinker lights you bought from ebay are the Front blinkers, not for the rears... they still work and look ok, im just sayin.

Really great video! I done this job 1 month before and can say all the basics are in there video. What do you done withe the inner bearing? they had some indication of spinning, was the pressfit tight?. I had the same issue with one spindle. The big problem, aftermarket spindle are chunk!

Another excellent video. You two guys have the best instructional videos on C3 Vettes on TH-cam . My buddies and I have done this on two Vettes. The first one was much harder because there was no good info like your video out there. The second one was much easier since we knew what to expect. I will say this, probably the hardest part was disassembly. 50 year old rusted parts are truly stuck. The other thing is one of the guys in my group is a machinist of your skill level. That really helps with making tools and making sure the tolerances are correct. If nothing else this video may convince some people that it would be worth it to just buy a new trailing arm and bearing assembly rather than attempt a rebuild. The trick with the fishing line was awesome, wish I had known that. The other thing is the camera work here was great and it really showed things in a detailed manner . Thanks to both of you, I have watched all the videos both of you guys have made and it has been a great help in rebuilding my 72 Vette. Just finished putting a 383 stroker with a Tremec TKX in it , wish you had made a video on that before I did it, again lot of videos but not the detail you always have. Thanks

Another great video! As far as universal joints, on my 76 I tried both zerk and non zerk. Replacing them around 5000 miles. Just couldn’t get the grease to all four cups during a service with the zerk type. I’d make sure on installation they were packed yet develop get a squeak from one of the four universals leaving a stop light. That’s a clean Corvette you have, enjoy it!

I don't understand why trailer manufacturers either don't include spare tires or spare tire mounts, especially on single axle trailers. My car hauler came with the mount installed bit I had to purchase the spare seperately. Doesn't make sense why a spare isn't included with every trailer.
