The Blackwoods invaded their lands, burnt their villages and crops, kidnapped/killed peasants (mainly women and children) and they also committed the R word to them, they also burnt their Septs (churches) bc House Blackwood followed the Old Gods (they're the only House in the riverlands who still worship the old gods too), while House Bracken (like everyone else) follow the Faith of the Seven. They did all this while carrying Targaryen banners, so everyone knew Daemon sent them. That's why the River Lords were so upset.

I think the how failed to show us how suicidal Rhaenys was becoming in the second season. In the first season we got lots of glimpses of that, I specially remember the scene where she is watching Vaemond's body being prepared by the silent sisters. Another thing that season 2 failed was to mention Laenor... Like at this point in the story it makes NO SENSE that Rhaenyra would'nt just tell Rhaenysthat her only remaining son is alive.

@ hi 👋 I’m not missing the point, I totally get what the character is doing. I just see the tongue in cheek humor that two of Matt Smith’s characters have such different outlooks on being “consort”. (Like I’m imagining Matt Smith, who seems to have a great sense of humor, had an internal laugh when he said that. Okay, Daemon doesn’t desire his mother. He can’t control his dreams, and she died when he was very small. Daemon has very limited experience and understanding with relating to women. His dream was about somebody believing in him, somebody thinking he was good enough to be king. He just needs that acknowledgment even if he’s long accepted he’s not meant to be king. It’s still hard to feel like you’re always (and only) the f-up in the family. In his mind, his mom probably loved him enough to see the good in him. It translates as sexual because that’s the only way Daemon knows how to be intimate with a woman. He’s not a connected father. He had no mother. He’s not fantasizing about her. When he woke up at the table, he was disgusted. He had no appetite. He doesn’t even really want the throne over his wife’s claim. He just thinks it should be done his way. He can’t understand a soft, patient approach… to anything. His other dreams show his love for Rhaenyra. As his niece 🤢 and as his wife, he feels guilt about not being able to support her the way he should. He doesn’t understand himself. He thinks he does right, but it’s always wrong. He wants her to win, but he thinks he knows best. That’s why all of these dreams, with the witch’s help, are important in his journey. Each one shows that he’s a bit closer to really “getting it.”

In my opinion, the mess started with Otto. It's gross but Viserys should've just let Rhaenyra marry Daemon and kept it in the family. It all went downhill when they mingled with the High Towers.
