Daemon said a son for a son, he knew if they didn't find Aemond that there was a high likelihood that a child would be killed. Just because this takes place in a savage world doesn't absolve anyone. Killing children is still very much looked down upon in that world as it is today in ours, and that's exactly why Otto used Jahaerys death as a way to get in good graces with the people, and smear Rhaenyra as a heartless child killer.. Aemond genuinely didn't want to kill Jace. Daemon didn't care who was killed, so long as it was a son that died. Daemon and Aemond do have very similar personalities/circumstances, but Daemon as of now in my eyes is just as Rotten as Aegon.
I guess because of the pacing of the show, theres a lot of characters that aren't being fleshed out properly. I don't understand it, because theres plenty of opportunity for it since they're only focusing on mainly two different factions, Greens and Blacks. One bug complaint last season was that Daiman was supposed to have a close relationship to his daughter (as seen int he books) but that seems to be continuing on to the second season of Daimon basically ignoring her.

I think it’s less about judging Rhaenyra, and more about distrusting anything good in the HOD series. Especially right after she said it doesn’t do her any good to let her go. So I was suspicious of why she suddenly changed her mind, but hoping she’d just needed the minute to think about it. Just like how everyone was suspicious when that cart started shaking and every single person I’ve watched had feared they’d drop that boy’s head or body. I’m so glad they didn’t, but you can tell they really built the suspense for that.

What an episode! The acting was out of this world. The Rhaenyra and Daemon confrontation. Then the Aegon and Otto take down. Otto was cooking! 🖤 The twins fight to the death which foreshadows the Dance - a war between kin with no winners.
I’m Team Black for two core reasons:
1) Viserys said what he said. Everybody wanna hold the crown in high regard until the crown does something they don’t like. The king spoke and the Greens tried to backdoor around his wishes.
2) The worst thing Rhaenyra ever did was try to fulfill her duty without completely compromising her own happiness. She’s selfish but not cruel or ambitious or shady. She won’t back down. That’s all.
Also note: the Greens are doing all of this manipulating to put somebody they KNOW is a sadist and a rapist on the throne. Aegon doesn’t care about his son as a person. Watch again. He only ever showed interest in him when it came to “legacy.” Aegon doesn’t care about the realm, either. He only likes being king when it means people admire him. His darker character goes dormant when he gets what he wants. When he’s entertained.
What happened as soon as sh*t stopped going his way? Back to overkill with violence.
Never ever forget that Aegon used to let his bastard children be put into CHILD FIGHTS. They shaved the kids’ teeth down to make them sharper. He liked watching those. So frankly, although it was awful and stupid on Daemon’s part, Aegon kinda deserves to have his baby done dirty. Sins of the father.
You don’t outgrow that, or rape. Aegon is rotten to the core. Rewatch S1 if you ever forget that.
His mama and granddaddy know this and still want him on the throne. For that, I’m with whatever team isn’t them.
So, Aegon vs. Rhaenyra is a no-brainer. Whoever is attached to either one of them doesn’t matter to me. Both sides live in a savage world at a savage time. That just is what it is.
But it’s very much a Trump/Biden call. Easy to make in terms of who to support.

A word about Daemon and Aemond: they are aggressive and impulsive, so they mess shit up. But they are principled and loyal. Their savagery is necessary for that world, so that’s not the problem. The problem is that they can’t hold back when their “second son” insecurities pop off. They’re reckless, not evil.

Daemon said a son for a son, he knew if they didn't find Aemond that there was a high likelihood that a child would be killed. Just because this takes place in a savage world doesn't absolve anyone. Killing children is still very much looked down upon in that world as it is today in ours, and that's exactly why Otto used Jahaerys death as a way to get in good graces with the people, and smear Rhaenyra as a heartless child killer.. Aemond genuinely didn't want to kill Jace. Daemon didn't care who was killed, so long as it was a son that died. Daemon and Aemond do have very similar personalities/circumstances, but Daemon as of now in my eyes is just as Rotten as Aegon.

I guess because of the pacing of the show, theres a lot of characters that aren't being fleshed out properly. I don't understand it, because theres plenty of opportunity for it since they're only focusing on mainly two different factions, Greens and Blacks. One bug complaint last season was that Daiman was supposed to have a close relationship to his daughter (as seen int he books) but that seems to be continuing on to the second season of Daimon basically ignoring her.

Why doubt Rhaenyra’s intentions with White Worm? She has never shown herself to be vindictive. It’s always interesting to see how people are quick to assign devious character to women without any evidence of it.

I think it’s less about judging Rhaenyra, and more about distrusting anything good in the HOD series. Especially right after she said it doesn’t do her any good to let her go. So I was suspicious of why she suddenly changed her mind, but hoping she’d just needed the minute to think about it.
Just like how everyone was suspicious when that cart started shaking and every single person I’ve watched had feared they’d drop that boy’s head or body. I’m so glad they didn’t, but you can tell they really built the suspense for that.

In defense of Helaena, the show has written her as being on the spectrum. So during blood and cheese she clearly knew that something bad was happening but she didn't really understand how bad everything was. Viewers are still mostly Team Black. The whole war was caused by the Greens. I know you've blamed Rhaenyra for Lucerys' death and for causing a war but even if that whole situation didn't happen, let's not forget the Greens stole the throne from her. Even before Alicent misunderstood what Viserys said, they were still plotting to usurp her. In my opinion, it doesn't make sense not to root for them or at least just Rhaenyra. Besides the child being decapitated was all Daemon. Rhaenyra never wished for that. Meanwhile, the entirety of the Greens with the exception of Helaena (and I guess Daeron too) have all contributed to causing this whole mess.
She could just let them have the throne. Tell Aegon about the prophecy and resign from the job. Especially if she truly didn't want her realm to bleed. Cause she knows the greens arent giving up without war. So shes as much to blame for the war as they are.

She knew Daemon had many faults yes, but I’m not sure arrogance, hard-headedness, and impulsiveness (all common for high borns with dragons) equated to child murderer in her mind. There’s also that air of naivety she has(d) for him as her childhood love (groomer) and uncle. I think young her with so many rules and restrictions, was attracted to HOD’s version of a “bad boy” and she’s now realizing once she’s older she got a monster instead.
Rhaenyra was a child when she was interested in Daemon and married him at a young age. She never fully understood his motives or behavior, which she mentions in their argument. Yes, she married him but it was with a child's fantasies at heart. These recent realizations are just that, recent. I believe Daemon's actions have made her see his true audacity and capability, and Rhaenyra is just now understanding the implications of having a relationship with him just like Viserys took decades to realize and act on.
Its wild they even blame her when she was groomed by her uncle from the age of 13 onward, probably even earlier.

The Biblical eye for an eye is a statement of restraint in justice, saying the punishment should fit the crime. It's not encouraging revenge on innocents like this. Killing Aemond could be considered justice. Killing anyone else for his actions is revenge.
